For wizzies that have moved out and wageslaving, is the independence meme worth it? I'm currently wageslaving, but tired of living with my parents even though they're quite nice and understanding. I want to be able to do what I want in my own space, cook the food I want, not have to share bathrooms, etc. I can pull it off financially, but I'm not sure if I'll regret it and end up saddled with a bunch of responsibilities.

I prefer it over living with my parents which is absurd financially, really. They never made me pay rent or anything like that and here I am wasting over half my money just to be alone in a shitty apartment. There's something about coming home and drink while staring at the traffic and people at night bellow through my window, alone and completely unattended, that makes it worth it. My advice is hold off on moving out until its either absolutely necessary or you find a good deal on a place. If you're able to live rent-free with parents while working & saving money by all means do it. At a minimum you'd want to have a large financial safety-net set up in place before you move out in case of any unexpected expenses. Living on your own can be quite expensive if you're not prepared. If you still want to look into independent living but don't want to spend too much money, I'd suggest to look into a roommate situation if possible. You'd still be living on your own, away from your parents but it'd be financially easier. The main issue would be finding good roommates though.

I work as a security guard and I make around $1,000 a month working Saturdays and Sundays.

I'm currently renting a room for $420, which lets me save around $500 a month. I don't pay for food or soda because I go dumpster diving at a family owned vending company that tosses away candy, food and soda.

You might be living a better quality of life then me. I work in an office doing a tech job making around $2500 a month but I live in a major metropolitan city where cost of living is high and everyone has roommates. So rather then paying like half of my income for some studio apt in the ghetto I decided to basically split a room room with another guy for $500 a month that includes everything. My goal is to basically increase my savings at a very fast rate while I'm relatively young & healthy and focus on investments that will bring me money every month. After a few years of living like this I think I would like to probably relocate to a cheaper state with lower cost of living of simply drop out of the normie wageslave life completely and start living in a van while traveling the country and doing seasonal jobs.

I was too lazy to do the seasonal work part of it but I know it's an option for me now. I think I'm going to sell it though and just live with my parents until I die because I expect society to collapse with the next 20 years from global warming and I don't see the point in doing anything other than sitting at my parents place until then.

Then you'd get stuck "pair programming" with no chance of actually being able to work and have to quit

 No.212340

There bascially aren't any jobs in society. There isn't a shortage of workers in any type of job out there that I can think of. Obviously you can get hired somewhere, but they only hired you because they turned down a lot of other people, in which case you probably got lucky, or someone in your familly hooked you up. I can think of only one job where there might be a legitimate need for workers, which is being a caretaker at retirement home. Nobody wants to wipe the asses of old people, so that doesen't come as a surprise. There are other niche cases where there is a legitimate need for workers, such as let's say a factory in some sort of remote location.
The whole "learn a trade" thing is a meme as well (but still a more viable option than college). Do you really beleve that people aren't lining up to become a plumber or carpenter in this shitty and dead economy? The problem with trades, at least in my country, is that it's filled with foreign workers, whom are willing to work longer and harder for shittier pay. If you removed these people from the equation, things might have looked very different. As of now you will not be in demand whatsoever if you learn a trade, but again, probably a better option than that college meme.

Not to mention that there are too many employees compared to the work that needs to be done, at least in many cases. And many jobs are just bullshit made-up job, such as being a telemarketer and whatnot. So you have people bullshitting around at work because the workplace is over-staffed, and you have people doing bullshit jobs. On top of that you have a fuckton of unemployed people (which the official statistics are probably lying about). Imagine all the people that are currently wasting their time studying something where they won't find a job afterwards, on top of the umeployed people that the statistics are lying about.

The whole "work" thing is a meme and an archaic system that ought to be changed. There is a legitimate need for workers in our society, but their effort and energy is being wasted on nonsense. Instead of scamming people over a telephone, we could likely provide every human being with a free home. If say most people were employed by the government, and their efforts were directed into doing actual legitimate things instead of fucking around, the world could look a whole lot better.

 No.212341

If you want to be realistic about it, there is no reason other than harvesting votes to keep useless people alive. The majority of humans have become superfluous, they should be left to their own devices, left to starve. Maybe wall them off in ghettos so they can kill each other over scraps. Eventually they'll die off. That's a good thing. Society itself is becoming obsolete. It's now an entity, a sentient entity. The lower classes are a cancer on it. The aristocracy are a cancer on it. Let the cancer die, what will be left is muscle and brain.
The number of true individuals in the world is very small. You know how most people couldn't fathom being self-sufficient? They would panic and shut down if their "wealth" (social privilege tickets) were ever taken away. These people aren't people. They're organs, they're insects.

i wouldnt say it's a meme, but you have to be young, healthy and built for it. I tried getting into it, im built like a succubus, i struggle to lift 20 lbs, they laughed and said the fuck are you gonna do on job sites by yourself.

i have seen the abyss cause life and shit genetics really fucked me. way too ugly to do anything dealing with the public or sales. shit tier IQ so i couldnt get one of these sweet IT/stem jobs every other person in these forums seems to have, and then my experience trying to get in the trades.

>The majority of humans have become superfluous

Everything is superfluous anyway, it's not like humanity is working towards something. It's all just a game, a stupid shitty game. All we can try to do is making the game better. What would we accomplish by killing of a huge percentage of the population? It would just make the game shittier. I'm in favor of executing people that have caused a lot of harm (meaning many rich people, not just what society defines as a 'criminal') and some sort of 'light' eugenics programme perhaps. Let's say we could start offering criminals a payment to get sterilized for instance. Just flat out killing off dumb and inferior people would just make this shitty game even shittier. I don't believe in utopia because the game is shitty at it's core. The only thing you can do is to make the best out of a pile of shit, which we are currently failing at.

>end of the fucking decade edition
decade ends next year, bud

 No.212351

>>212347
It depends on how a decade is defined.

The popular and common definition is that the 10s digit in the year defines a decade, so 2010-2019 is a decade. So, unless you want to be called a pedant, stick to this, and celebrate the end of the decade in a in a few day's time.

However, there is another definition of decade called the "ordinal decade" that runs from 2011-2020. This is predicated on the fact that there was no year 0, so the first 10 years were years 1-10, and so on.

A similar dilemma occurred for the turn of the millennium (1-1000 years = first millennium, 1001-2000 years = second millennium, but the fact that all the digits were changing between 1999 and 2000 meant that by popular convention 1-1-2000 marked the new millennium).

Wizards here are ultimate cucks from what I've noticed over the years, ironically like most norms they can see the problem and suffer its consequence, but refuse to see any alternative or solution.
The unions over here suck and my co-workers didn't want to change the system because they thought maybe one day they could exploit it themselves.
Anyways, working conditions are gonna get worst so I'm gonna NEET as much as I can for now.

Are they centrally organized unions?? The second link I posted explains why bureaucratic unions fail, and instead advocates for horizontal unions, which are directly controlled by the workers. The Idustrial Workers of The World (IWW) is the biggest horizontally organized union in the U.S. and it has had much success. The only problem is u.s. laws making organizing harder and anti-union propaganda, as well as skepticism towards unions due to corruption from union bureaucrats in the hierarchical unions, which is why we advocate for horizontal, non-hierarchical unions like the IWW which are directly democratically controlled by the rank and file. If you can comfortably be a NEET though that may be easier and preferable, but many here can't and the only way to improve their lives is to fight for it.

Horizontal unions prevents your co-workers from exploiting the union themselves because there is no hierarchy in them, all members have the same power. The links I shared explains a lot of this.

Ive often heard libertarians say that unions might increase wages for the workers in the union, but at the expense of workers as a whole, as its impossible to increase all wages at once across the board, as that would be inflation.

So even by the logic that unions are not idealists for the people, but just selfishly helping their narrow members, that would still be a reason for individuals to join.

The evidence in support of unions is overwhelming. I doubt you will read any of this, but along with all the links I already posted (which also have additional links to additional evidence on the side of the main text) I don't mind posting more, though I don't want to turn this into a politics thread. I thought talking about unions would be appropriate since they directly relate to fighting against wageslavery, but further investigation may get my posts deleted. I gave you several sources and a meta-analysis to back up what I've said and your evidence is nothing more than a video whose only evidence of of his claims "working" is under totalitarian governments like chile, china, or hong kong (though china has a planned economy and in the rest workers live like shit so really he has nothing). You should be the one providing me with empirical evidence of your claims, though you can't because there are none. I mean, outside of oil havens or money loophole countries like the UAE and kuwait that is. So it is true that there are extremely exceptional cases of people living with high standards of living without unions but that is not the norm in modern times nor has it been for the brunt of capitalism's existence. And I advocate for unions for more reasons than just higher wages. I advocate for them because I am a socialist and see them as tools to fundamentally change the nature of social relations (see this post and video >>212516 ).

Comments like this only show the level of brainwashing under capital has been taken to such an extent that they call the very ideology that their system is built on (liberalism, and yes, conservatives are liberals) the same as its complete anti-thesis. Also this video to show what we want to replace liberal indoctrination schools with. If we had control of schools then these are the type of schools we would have. I'm not making this up, here are more sources from actual socialists (of the anarchist tradition) to prove what I say. Unions create artificial scarcity by using force to prevent willing individuals from entering into jobs that they are qualified for. They do this simply because it's financially beneficial for their members. There's nothing revolutionary about that, it's just more bullying and blustering by the exact same group that you use the ill-defined and vague term "capitalist" to describe. I believe that people have a right to their body and their labour. Unions are antithetical to that.

 No.212648

>against mandatory unions and competing unions
I don't think you'll read any of what I posted, but even in my replies on wizchan I agreed with this. Unions should be completely voluntary, there is nothing revolutionary about competing unions and these practices are only done by business unions which I am against and have said so several times (or I thought I did if not?).Not only have I said so here, but my original union links even explain this. The term capitalist is actually very explicit both in bourgeosie economic terms and in the socialist definition, though we differentiate more when we speak of class positions. So when I say capitalist, I mean someone that derives most of their income from property ownership, not from labour. Like owning stocks or a house or a bank. It's really not vague at all. "a right to their own body and labour"… YOUU ARE YOUR OWN BODY AND LABOUR… these are not objects that can be taken away from you. The capitalist notion of self-ownership is completely nonsensical because if it were true and your labor was like an object and not part of yourself, then when you go to sleep you could send your labour to work for you in the factory, but obviously this is ridiculous.
And capitalist create plenty of artifical scarcity themselves too https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NAIRU and don't forget the fucking division of labour that tells me I can't be a thinker but only a grunt doing manual work.

>The capitalist notion of self-ownership is completely nonsensical because if it were true and your labor was like an object and not part of yourself, then when you go to sleep you could send your labour to work for you in the factory
This doesn't really hold any water. Tools and equipment that you need to be present to operate are considered property, not fundamental components of the Self. You can sell organs and the value of your labour can be transferred from you, so these things are not inalienable from the Self.

>So when I say capitalist, I mean someone that derives most of their income from property ownership, not from labour.

This just isn't consistent with what you've been saying though. In the very same post you describe a certain view on the body in relation to the Self as "capitalist" even though it has no relation to income. And you even describe an economic concept as capitalist for some reason. Clearly your definition is faulty.

I'm not even part of this conversation but I want to jump in. You're a socialist and have said so yourself.

The origin of socialism is the idea that all people are equally worthwhile and useful - which they patently are not.

If your views are inspired by Marx then they will have, at bottom, the labour theory of value as their justification. Which is fucking retarded because a simple thought experiment should show you that 100 retards, hurr durring for a hundred years only produce thousands of pairs of shit filled pants that no one wants. Try as they might that's all they can do.

And I'll leave a few more turd nuggests in your cereal by way of a parting shot - if your feeling is that their "something" wrong with all these rich people are poor people then you need to come to terms with the fact that the biggest determinant of poverty is simple geography - people need to be fucking whipped to work at anything and capitalism means you whip yourslef - and that the numbers of bernie sander "muh uuhhh uhhh millionaires and billionairess and trillionaires and uh uh billionaires" are fucking tiny compared to the numbers of public stock companies, the ownership of who's shares drives the entire machine of investment and 90% of retirement pensions. There's no fucking pot of gold at the end of your rainbow.

There are maybe a 100 thousand niggers walking around with millions that they "don't deserve" even according to your own moral reasoning, and if you squeezed them all dry you might just buy every neet a top of the range gaming pc….and that'd be fucking it.

Reality itself, contrains you.

As for all the other monetary slack in the economy in the hands of people who aren't "uhu uh uh uh millionaires and billionaires" the boomer money etc…well to be fair there's a lot there that could be better spent - but you never preach the "i'm going to raid everybody's pocket because buying a new car every 5 years as a boomer is fucking stupid and grossly wasteful" doesn't go over well. So you peddle shit instead.

God you make me as mad as capitalist fuckery - you're just as much as a cringing little snake. In reality you see yourself as a fucking commisar with us poor benighted idiots being lucky to be ruled by you, don't you?

Vacation days are good if you're actually allowed to use them when you want to.
We're basically forced to spend most of ours during summer or during christmas period, since there's very little work to do then so you're not "missed" if you're away. But it's almost a 'catch 22' scenario for me, since coming to work on summer is the only time I'm actually comfortable doing so, my commute is twice as fast as there's very little traffic in the city (since most people are on vacation and school is out), I get air conditioning at work, and there's very little to do so I can just fuck around for most of the day, so it's almost like I'm on a pseudo-vacation anyway.
So for the last few years I tried to arrange to not have any vacation time during summer, and instead take at least 3 weeks off some other time, ideally in october/november but I'd take some time during spring as well if that's not possible, but I was basically told it's unacceptable to take more than a few days during those periods.
Instead I just waste a few weeks at home every july/august or december doing nothing, and it doesn't really feel like a vacation, since even if I was going to work then I wouldn't be doing much either, since there's nothing to do.
It feels less like a vacation, and more of a punishment and being forced to adjust my free time according to average norman lifecycles and schedules.

Is anyone else here paranoid about getting fired? I got an office position by pure luck (there wasn't even an interview) and if I get fired I'll have to work in retail or something. My mental capacities barely allow for average performance. And if I don't do better than others I'm the first one to go out because of my social retardation and speech disabilities and other aspects that norms pay attention to like looks, height, etc. It's also hard to tell how I'm doing since I'm relatively new, so I'm working my ass off all the time in hopes that it's enough.

>got a Christmas temp job
>been working lots of 8-10 hour shifts over the Christmas period
>got an extension on my contract for being a good little wageslave
>next week shifts go "back to normal" with 5 hour days
I'm so conflicted. On one hand the work was tolerable because I was saving a lot of money and working towards buying myself as much non work time as I could. With this change the growth of my savings grinds to a near halt, but in return I get significantly less work.
If I did shit with my time off this would be more of a blessing but I just consume media the same way I do when working, in fact I'm more efficient cramming in media in the mornings and nights of work days than I am on my days off.
Overall it's between immediate relief and future relief. It's not like I was making an absolute killing working myself to the bone anyway so I guess the immediate relief is better. I don't have a choice in the matter at all so it's pointless to even think about.
My fear with all of this is that I'll be pushed to wards job searching again. That was my only relief when I first got the job, followed by having money of course.
In conclusion I'd still rather just die in my sleep tonight. Wish me luck.

Kind of. I was fired from my last two jobs. I got fired from them for my own actions - one for stealing from the store, and the other because I hung up on customers who were phoning in to the call centre.

That's a good image. Captures the ennui of modern wage slavery quite nicely.

Personally if I were you, I'd quit. The worst thing about wageslaving for me is the day-in day-out slog. I prefer short bursts for high pay, high hours. Getting paid almost nothing but having to spend every day at work, even if it's less time would suck. Somehow working a new job actually normally fills me with energy, but by the time I've gone to work over and over again, that feeling begins to be replaced with nothing but dread and misery.

Same reason why they're against very flexible working time.
Now of course flexibility can't be applied to a lot of jobs, but when it comes to a lot of generic office jobs like mine, the only thing that matters is that I finish my work for the week on time. So why do I have to sit there for 8-9 hours each day, if for example I could finish the same amount of work by working 10 hours a day, and take every friday off then, or even work monday-wednesday 12-13 hours a day, and then get 4 days off? Or just not even come to work or leave early when there's really nothing to do.
I mean if they expect you to work overtime when there's lot to do, wouldn't it also be expected to work "undertime" and leave early when there's nothing to do?
In fact you'd almost think employers would really be for this, since it would mean that things that I usually finish on friday would now be finished a day or two earlier, but no,

Dear wageslave,

How did they do it in the past? I think about how hard it is to make ends meet today and the past doesn't make any sense. If most people today can't afford kids, how did medieval peasants afford kids? If most people today can barely find a place to live, how did serfs find a place to live?

 No.213356

Generally the more children the average peasant family had the better. The children helped out with the farm work and eventually took care of the parents when they got to old. In modern western 1st world countries it becomes very expensive to raise children the education, succubus in the workforce bringing down wages. Who would normally take care of the house doing stuff like sewing clothes, cleaning, cooking and taking care of the children. To think in the past 1 man could supply/support an family, house etc. So now you gotta buy clothes and both are working so gotta pay for daycare and then the modern gadgets that's becomming more and more essential as time passes. The list goes on and on.

It was probably stupidly easy to find work at that time and the population wasn't as big as now. Also back then working for a lot of hours didn't mean much because they don't have much to do anyways, not as much hobbies or shit to do, it was a simple time but nonetheless tough and can be pretty boring.

 No.213386

>>213355
Working back then (as a peasant) was nothing like working today. They started out with land and the means to survive, instead of having to work for it, but still probably had to pay grain/taxes to a lord. All of life was dependent on the harvest. Half of income came from selling grain, and only that which was left after feeding one's family was sold. During growing season, you would work your ass off, spending all day doing physical labor. But after harvest there would be much less work to do so you would either take it easy if the harvest went well, or do something else to make money. succubi would only have children if the harvest went well. The elderly would likely only live another season if the harvest went well. Whether the harvest went well was mainly decided by the weather. So if you lived in the Medieval Warm Period, life would've been pretty great. If you lived in the 17th century during the "Little Ace Age" it would be misery.

Working in industry is hell. I never cared about products or customers, so having to put on a facade every day is exhausting. I'm sure many wizards will agree that the corporate hierarchy is oppressive and arbitrary, the constant demands of customers give you no peace of mind, and the profit-driven mentality is the death of the soul.

I wish there was a comfy scholar job where you could work in an archive or library all day, doing research, writing papers, with nothing to interrupt your concentration, and not have to interact with people. It seems like the life of a perpetual student is ideal for a wizard, but it seems that such jobs have been automated over the last century in the pursuit of efficiency. Academia has been turned into a sweatshop with brutal competition and "publish or perish" culture, so I don't think that's a solution.

If something like this ideal job still existed, I wouldn't even mind getting paid subsistence wages, enough to afford a studio apartment and basic necessities. The tranquility alone would be worth it.

My mom realized that she's put up with an insultingly mediocre job with a long commute for 18 years only to see inflation outpace her meager raises and her medical to be slashed to the point where she can't even use it. Instead of using her social network to get a better job first she's pressuring me to work more hours while my sister doesn't even pay bills because she's buried in debt. Started bitching at me while I was making breakfast because some son of someone she knows did something better than what I'm doing. Of course she probably can't even imagine that I'm infinitely closer to quitting instead of applying for more hours. Expects me to be a good wagie.

Clerical work involving billing and collections. Even though she's one of their senior office wagies they never gave her a more advanced position. She makes the same hourly as the new hires but she gets a few weeks of vacation and they let her stay longer, nice right? Last year her boss chewed her out and embarrassed her in front of the other employees just out of spite. She must have some kind of martyr complex because anyone with self respect would have quit then.

You'd be surprised how technical some may sound. I work for a US state agency that does civil engineering. Half of my office co-workers are old boomer draftsmen or photographers that no longer have shit to do because CADD has developed to the point that the workforce greatly outnumbers the work and automation/drones have made the photographers obsolete. Yet these guys sit in their cubicles all day playing fantasy sports, talking with each other, bragging about their pensions. If they feel like it they'll contribute to some project someone is working on, but they take their time. Basically, as long as the department fulfills its annual mandate all is well, because the boss is a combination of very nice / nonconfrontational / really good at paperwork.

10% have to get shit done. 90% do nothing or do something pointless. Sadly, I'm in 10%

These situations are sprinkled all throughout public sector. Depends on the management really. This does not occur in private sector. I don't see why a wizard would choose private over public sector unless they have really expensive hobbies.

Having nothing to do at work is so shitty. I mean in certain settings it's probably alright, if say you're a security guard and just watch a surveillance camera all day, and you can just bring a laptop with you and watch movies and stuff (and you would even be expected to do something like that in such a job). But when I have nothing to do, I just sit on my shitty old phone and browse through newspapers for 8 hours. I'm in a cold workshop with concrete walls and floor. It's an open space, there's almost nowhere for me to hide. I show up there every day and barely get any tasks to do at all, it's so utterly pathetic. The company doesen't get enough contracts, and the workplace is overstaffed. And no one of my co-workers seem to mind just showing up there every morning to do fuck-all for 8 hours. And they look weirdly at me for sitting in a corner on the phone and not being entushiastic about having nothing to do. The crazy thing is, I don't see how this is sustainable at all. The company is paying a full wage to all of these people that do nothing all day. The workplace was busier when I started 1.5 years ago, so I suppose they are living off previous earnings. But right now I just hope this company goes bankrupt, because this is incredibly annoying and pathetic. I cannot fathom how a workplace can be this pathetic. I wonder if this is even normal, since I haven't worked anywhere else.

I just left work after an hour today because I couldn't take it anymore, after already sitting for 8 hours on my phone yesterday. My boss calls me and says that I have to do a training course on monday, doesen't even mention the fact that I left work today. My boss is so apatheic and non-confrontational, and it's fucking up the whole workplace. My contract expires in 5 months, after that I might as well go homeless or something. I don't see the point in living a life where you just go to work every day and do nothing at all, why even live? I could work under certain conditions, but as of now I'm pretty fed up with "work" and humanity.

The funny thing is that the roof over your head is just a thing that exists, it doesn't somehow go bad if you don't insert dollar bills into it, all that makes it so you need to do that is power structures determined by human society. Imagine if it was like the old days where you just took a plot of land that no one was using and built a house on it and then that house and the surrounding land were yours without you having to constantly pay money for it, you just owned it. Being NEET is very overrated

Well wiz I'm sorry to tell you this but being a neet really reveals what sort of person you are. Having all the time for yourself can be a blessing for those who actually do have something they wish to pursue or a curse if they find out to be but a husk of a human being without anything particular interests or abilities. The latter ends up making use of gaming and other low effort stuff that most of the time won't be satisfying for too long.

The fact you think having all the time in the world for yourself is overrated reveals something about yourself, not neetdom as you assume.
