There's a daki thread on /jp/ I think, so give that a read.
I have slept hugging a fluffy pillow a few times when I was having real intense emotional issues, but other than that not really, they dont do anything for me unless I'm in very deep turmoil, mind you I didn't hug the pillow because of some waifu-shit, but from some primal form of chemical release caused by hugging an object that seemed to soothe me ever so slightly
Found it (https://wizchan.org/jp/res/26161.html
for reference). Thanks for the info. The discussion there is mostly focuses on the technical aspects though.
I have a teddy bear. I treat him psychologically as a sort of tulpa, as if he were alive and was one of those kami from Shinto. There is nothing wrong with that.
I sleep hugging a pillow (a regular one) and have another one tucked behind my back. When I'm in a deep depression I hide my face into it and it makes me feel somewhat safe.
He's a cute fella. How old is he? I'm sleeping with the same teddy since I was 1.
Serious question: Can anyone explain what the appeal of these pillows is supposed to be? Is it like a regular pillow except with an illustration on it?
Pretty old, idk 25 years or more maybe. Its a gift from my aunt when I was newborn.
>>221934>I don't want to buy one because I'd feel like a faggot.
cringe>I like the ones with anthros.
Cute. I have a similar one, but brown, and it also has a vest and a hat sewn on. I like plush toys much better than pillows because they feel more personal.
I have a teddy bear named Micky, and I think my auntie bought it for me as a child. He is a brown monkey and I used to sleep with him holding him tightly and talking to him. The last time I visited my mother's house, she had stuffed him in a drawer so that the bedroom (which she had redesigned, with barely anything in there any more) looked neat. I took him out and placed him on a pillow on the chair in the corner, and made sure he looked comfortable before leaving. I love you Micky.
I like anthros and I feel horrible about it. Thanks fellow wiz. >>222812>Ara>fk

that's a cute story anon, thanks for sharing that
I bought one back in 2010 because I fell for the meme and thought maybe it would be nice to hug at night.
In reality I just kept kicking it off my bed and each time it would wake me up, eventually I put it away.
Mom made fun of me for it a lot too.
Your mom just wanted you to hug her at night.
Sounds like I should put mine away too
I went for a daki on a fluke and it's changed my life. I look forward to sleeping and naps. It relaxes my body and mind, and I feel refreshed and better after snuggling with my Emilia daki. Sometimes it makes me feel more lonely, but overall it's some sort of substitute for physical touch. I realize the body actually needs physical touch. When I cuddle with my daki, by body reaction is completely automatic and besides myself… I cling to it completely.
Can't decide whether these look comfy or like they'd take up too much space in the bed. I only have a single bed, not needing more than that.
I've had a plain sheeted body pillow for many years now that I actually just use as a literal pillow for my head, since it's way more comfortable and convenient versus a normal pillow. Even so, I was seemingly dead set on getting a second body pillow to use as a daki a number of months ago, so as to stymie my sense of loneliness and to not make this room seem so empty. Even if that means pretending that a daki is actually a real person that is lying next to me in my bed, or sitting next to me on the couch. Something that I could hug and can make believe they're hugging me back, or something that I could even cry into when I'm feeling really sad while imagining that they're stroking my head and whispering how much they love me and that everything is alright.
Unfortunately, it all ended in big puff of nothing, since I had to grapple with going the commissioning route, since there's only one officially released daki of what I was looking for, but it sucks. The guy I picked seemed like a decent artist, but was a real snake in the grass when it came to actually delivering on what I wanted. The fact that english clearly wasn't his first language made matters even more difficult, since it seemed as if the guy couldn't even understand half of what the fuck it was I actually wanted him to do, but then acted like he did, only to keep delivering me the exact opposite of what I described. Had to cancel the job as a result and just said fuck it to the whole thing.
Since then, there's other artists I thought about trying to commission, but enh. All their styles kind of just blend together as a sort of cheap, generic anime design 101 type slop. I want to commission an artist that can really deliver a high quality image, but, outside of that one guy I mentioned, I haven't been able to find one. At this point, I almost wonder if I should just buy a daki with more common characters as the subject, like Rei or Asuka, that have a plethora of official designs to choose from, since I've yet to find another artist that either is open to commissions or has a style that would actually make commissioning them worth it. I'd still really like to get a daki though. I just need to work up the wherewithal to give the process another shot. Easier said than done for a depressed autist like myself, where even pursuing something I'm ostensibly interested in feels like too much effort.
Outside of a daki, I do have 2 little stuffed bears in here. They mostly just act as little decorations, but sometimes I stare at them and feel almost a warm, comforting presence emanating off them. In a sense of it being like, "Don't be so sad, we're here with you. We understand. We know it hurts to feel alone. Don't feel like such a horrible person. We love you for who you are.". I live with my parents, both of whom I can talk with at anytime about almost anything, but, even so, my room can often feel quite cold and dark, so I like to pretend as if I always have company in here so I don't feel so alone without sacrificing my privacy.
Also, just an aside, but the image I posted is simply a pose list I found that some random user on DeviantArt had drawn up for other people to use, so as to make the process of describing what I wanted to a commissioning artist easier, which in the case of that one guy I mentioned didn't really help, since he couldn't even replicate any of the poses in that list to any degree of satisfaction.
I'm the guy who's post I'm replying to. I received the pillow and the cover and slept 2 nights with her. Worth every penny.
Awesome! Ara is such a cutie waifur! You are one lucky wizard. I'm still unsure if I'll ever go through with buying one.
I have a Felix Argyle daki, super comfy, cuddling it always helps me fall asleep
Do you have pics? Also how is the fabric? How do you use it? Do you just lean on it at a desk or do you cuddle up with it?
It helps when you live alone. It would have been a no-go otherwise.>>223215
Fluff-Kevlar himself sells these daki sleeves on his Etsy page for $50-$60 depending on which fabric you choose. The peachskin and plush are $50 and $60 respectively (plus tax). As far as the pillow is concerned, I ordered the CMD9150 from Amazon for about $80. It's kind of an expensive investment, but in cases of extreme loneliness and perceived isolation from other people it's very worthwhile. I basically hide her under the covers when away from home, but I do snuggle with her a whole lot. It's kind of crazy how much of a bond I've built with her during the past few days. She is very soft (I got the plush fabric) and, coupled with a good pillow, very squishy.
Other than possible detrimental effects to your social image, I can't see any problems with having one. I only see healthful benefits.
1: It helps you sleep in a healthier position during sleep.
2: Depending on your perception of the pillow (For example: if you view her as someone special), I think it can help your body produce much needed oxytocin levels.
Overall, she was worth every penny.
Same guy. I just wanted to say that the pillow case was a bit crooked on the pillow. I have since re-aligned the sleeve.
>Ara>an old thinkpad>arch gnu/linux>those games>konami turn table
WITNESSED! You really do have patrician taste. 100% a true wiz after my own heart. I'm rocking a X201 with Arch. I was actually going to attempt a migration to Artix tonight just for the meme of it.
It's super awesome to hear that Ara has helped your physical and mental health and she's been a companion to you. Maybe Ill get an anthro daki when I live alone, but for now it's absolutely not a viable thing to even think about lol. Besides I dont even know which character I would get.
Well done wiz. Well done.
You sound like a quite the cool wiz yourself. Hopefully I come across you again.
Definitely consider getting a daki when you're in the optimal state to do so. I hope it helps you as much if not more than it has helped me.
One thing about many dakis I've seen online that I didn't like was that they looked far too loosely fit on the pillow. Fluff's plush dakis however, seem to fit quite snugly on the pillow. Also make sure to get the right size for both products as dakis tend to come in 2 standard sizes: 150cmx50cm and 160cmx50cm. Also, if you buy from Fluff, I'd highly recommend paying 10 extra smackaroonis for the plush variant. Long story short: Just do some research. It can be a moderately substantial investment in terms of cost.
In regards to my computer, I've been using chaos magick on it for too long. I have no organization system for files or anything. I've been thinking of finally succumbing to the Gentoo meme with the obligatory fear of the compiling weighing on my decision.
I really want to learn more. I'm getting too comfortable in this state.
Anyways, I wish you the best, fellow wiz. :^)
I would get one from fluff if he made one for Ayn. He has another character on a daki called "Shakti" who's pretty hot, but not too much my taste. Ayn is exotic and very inviting which is why I like her. I also like Mihari , especially the way fluff and scorpdk draw her, but the owner of that character is an insane succubus. I like the way some artists draw Callie Briggs and M'ress but no dakis to speak of for those waifurs either. That cutie from the new ratchet and clank game seems good too, I guess. Believe me when it's time to get my waifur daki I am going to buy the best fabric money can buy (two way tricot, right?). Also you said you've been bonding a lot with Ara, that sounds like a nice experience. I hope I can find something similar. How have you bonded with her apart from the obvious spooning at bed time?
In terms of computers there is a nice way to clean up your directory, see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yy8RoDSdhIQ
I too have thought of the Gentoo meme as well as alternatives such as Funtoo, Source Mage, and Lunar. After the apparent difficulty of installation the only inconvenient part is waiting for applications' source code to compile but after that it is supposedly faster than arch. I am tempted by source mage because it is a literal wizard distro, but gentoo has more packages so it could be more useful. Source Mage does have the most commonly used ones though so it could be a non issue. IDK, Ill just stick with arch/artix in the mean time. (pic brought to you by imagemagick)
I was kind of disappointed he didn't have an Ayn one too. It should be obvious that she, out of all of FK's characters, would be deserving of quite a sexy daki.
Perhaps it's that she's canonically 6'2" and it would be kind of a big pillow and he's not willing to make compromises, but that's probably a stretch.
As far as bonding with Ara is concerned, it's mostly that I look forward to cuddling with her at night. It's gotten to the point where, if I'm at home, I'll give myself like 5-10 minutes to cuddle with her to refresh myself. My mind perceives her as someone special. But it really doesn't extend away from the bed so far. However, sometimes I like to imagine that she likes some of the music I listen to, that she's my significant other or whatever.
To go into detail, I like to sit her up on my lap and hug her, spoon her, lay my head on her chest, etc. She is very soft and spongy. Is that a good description? She's soft in that she's a pillow, but she's able to support my legs without collapsing unlike many other pillows. Kind of like Jello or something.
I mean it's kind of sad, but it beats having to deal with succubi I'm sure. I enjoy being free, but also need someone to hold close to me.
Forgive me if this post is chaotic. My head isn't as clear as it was yesterday.
As a former gentoo user I should warn that if you plan to switch be prepared to to spend a lot of your life performing manual configuration, tweaking, and troubleshooting. If you desire making system administration a major part of your life go for it. Balance whether the minutes shaved off of a program's long-term execution time are worth the tens of minutes spent compiling. In my experience it really is an enthusiast's distro.
True. Ayn is a tall succubus. I don't think thats the reason why fluff didnt make a daki of her. I bet if he did make one they would sell out. It's awesome how youve already gotten so much out of Ara as a companion. Waifurs are always hands down better than succubi, nothing beats them. Besides Ayn and Ara, which other anthro succubus would you wish you could have as a daki? Also rate my set up, it's not quite as nice as yours yet. >>223276
Thanks for the heads up, wiz. I think for now I'll stick with arch/artix. If you don't mind me asking, what made you switch away from Gentoo and what distro do you use now? Have you ever tried other source based distros?
I've been so incredibly lonely. I believe my quick integration of her into my life was due to this. I needed a companion. I feel like an outcast of outcasts among the adjacent people. Ara was a great investment.
As far as your setup goes, I'm no good at arbitrarily rating things with numbers. But, I certainly like how clean it is. Also the Unicomp keyboard is awesome (That's just a guess. Am I right?). How are the switches? I've been wanting to get one. It's kind of weird to see an actual keyboard with a trackpoint. I also like your ThinkPad's appearance a bit better than my own's, very boxy. I appreciate the lack of a mouse (who needs that shit?). What sort of window manager do you use?>>223276
I appreciate the advice very much. Thank you! :^)
Furfags, fuck off and die in a fire.
Yup it is a unicomp. I am looking for a monitor to complete the setup. I use dwm as my window manager because suckless master race that's why. :^) Have you ever used Pywal? You basically run it on an image that you have and it changes the color scheme of your terminal to match it. Maybe you can do an Ara color scheme lol. The switch works well, like I said before I am in the process of getting a monitor for it.
I wonder what distro Ara uses. Probably which ever one you give her. She is an android after all, right? This is totally off topic but doesn't Ayn's color pattern kind of remind you of Timon from lion king or am I just crazy? >>223291
This is wizchan. No one gives a flying fuck about what you think. Go back to 4chad.
I switched from Gentoo to Artix for a while as I had never ran Arch and was curious but prefer to steer clear of systemd. Sadly encountered major issues stabilizing Artix on my optimus laptop so I ditched it after a very educational month. Currently I run Antix (a lovely rock-solid debian-based distro) on an old Toshiba laptop resurrected mainly for tinkering and porn and OpenSUSE Tumbleweed on my primary optimus Lenovo laptop due to that distro's great stability and low maintenance. I also run Devuan on my frankenstein desktop as a multipurpose LAN server (NFS/torrentbox/kodi).
I have never tried any other source-based distros, but I suspect Gentoo would be the best documented and supported of them. I guess you could say Artix is partially source-based due to the beauty that is the AUR but it does not compare to the puritanical dedication to absolute control that is the signature of Gentoo.
Oops! Sorry. You asked what anthro characters I'd like to have as dakimakura? I'm quite content with Ara right now. I would honestly take most of Fluff's dakis like Krystal and Carmelita Fox. (Yes, I know Krystal is the Yoko Ono of the StarFox series as the great Fred once said. But I still think she's hot.) Here's a mildly more obscure one which would be Ginger from Dust: An Elysian Tail. She's just innocent and sweet. Not sure who else.
I've heard of Pywal, but I haven't tried it yet. That sounds quite nice.
I actually was wondering the same thing regarding what OS Ara runs. I was dreading that she might actually just use Windows 10, but I refuse to believe it.
Upon looking it up I can see exactly where you're coming from. I personally love her ears.
Also, it's obligatory for the "yiff in hell, furfags" guy to be in any public conversation with furs. I'd be more concerned if there wasn't one of those guys. :^)
Same guy>>223300>Upon looking it up I can see exactly where you're coming from. I personally love her ears.
I was referring to your statement regarding Ayn's fur's colors.
I really need to proofread my posts better.
I understand. You did not have the patience and discourage everyone to validate your choices.
I'm just advising based on my personal experience, troll.
Yeah thats what I've heard. I really appreciate the input of your experience, anonymage. Thank you. I am tempted to try out Source Mage or Lunar for the meme though.
Funny enough most of the old timers I know that are hard core unix linux veterans all seem to prefer debian or some kind of debian based distro. I have no idea if thats just the way they started out or if ending up with the most stable distro is the logical conclusion of all this… or worse we are forever doomed to distro hop! >>223302>>223303
Dust was a great game. Similarly to Fred's A Fox in Space, Dust was mostly developed by a 1 man team. I also like Ginger because she's nice and sweet. I also like Haylee that one rabbit blacksmith. I kind of wish that the world was developed more. I really liked the Asian inspired fantasy world that was agrarian but also had some high technology in it from another era. Maybe one day we'll get a sequel or something if we're lucky.
Well at least I know I am not crazy, I knew Ayn's fur pattern was familiar. So you like her ears, huh? Well I like a lot of her lol. And I wouldnt worry about Ara's choice of OS, if it's not said by cannon, she uses gnu/linux as far as we're concerned. As the perfect distro alludes us, so does the perfect waifur daki.
This is going from a daki thread to a fur/linux thread lmao.
Oh gee, how could we forget, you obviously know his experiences better than he does.
this thread degenerated into some furrycon circlejerk between 2 deviates.
fuck you im no furry
Oh shit, deviants on wizchan? Someone contact the authorities! We gotta reeducate them!
You are correct about that.
It is so fucked up how the west just appropriates a culture for some social brownie points and attention before they get bored and move on to the next non-western subculture.
Anything western is a trashy counterfeit especially when it comes to art.
Anthros are infinity better than your dime a dozen copy and paste weeb shit. It literally all looks the same and only appeals to autistic pedophiles.
With anthros there is contour and nuance with every half competent artist. Take fluffkevlar, scorpdk, and koul for example.
Face it brah u suck sasquatch nads and have basic bitch takes.
When it comes to fabrics which one is the best? Is paying more for the so called "better" fabrics worth it?
The fabric matters a lot. No point in a daki that's rough and not nice to hold. I like peach skin, but it's not very common and most ones with it are knock offs.
A lot of people say "2 way tricot" is the best and is the most expensive fabric you can get as far as I know. There are videos on the internet talking about each fabric and describing how they feel.
Perhaps it's worth buying something just to get your hands on a tester kit, but I went ahead and got the two-way tricot since they were shilling it like the second coming.
2 way tricot is the standard for a good daki, you can't really go wrong with it.
I guess it's 2 way tricot of some kind for the absolute best fabric
I never liked stuffed animals.
They couldn't stop my father from hitting me and yelling and shouting while banging his hands on the metal kitchen counter from 10 pm to 6 am, preventing me from sleeping at all.
And I had a lot of them, too.
