Watching fma made me realize something. I realised that most people have sins (sometimes these attributes are stronger in some ppl, sometimes they are weaker, but they always are)
>Pride
>Greed
>Lust
>Gluttony
>Sloth
>Envy
>Wrath
To properly function in the society, in this world you must adapt some of these sins (I mean mainly wrath, greed and pride) If you lack these 3 main attributes, then you are very easy target to attack and they can destroy you.

 No.260882

Those three are top tier, the rest seem like a hindrance especially lust and gluttony. Sloth can be good so you don't overwork yourself. Envy is crab shit

 No.260886

>Those three are top tier, the rest seem like a hindrance especially lust and gluttony
Yes, definitely
>the rest seem like a hindrance especially lust and gluttony. Sloth can be good so you don't overwork yourself. Envy is crab shit
Sloth can be good in the way you describe it, but can also be very bad at the same time, if you too lazy to do anything, then you may miss lots of things in life.

 No.260887

Sin is actually more complicated than that. If you actually go too far in the opposite direction you fall back into sin, funnily enough, it's about a fine balance.

>Going too far past humble means to be self abusing and deprecating

>Being too far past industriousness means being a workaholic.
etc

pride is only really a sin for people in power, for downtrodden people like us it's often all they keeps us going in life

 No.260889

Now I am forced to take the side of christian writers and thinkers. You people misunderstand this. When christian thinkers listed these as sins they had extreme cases in mind.
Pride - being too full of yourself (without reasons) means you are delusional and have a god complex. "Knowing" everything better than everyone else can be very harmful to you. Plus too much pride can mean you refuse help from others. It leads to self-destruction in this sense.
Envy - always looking at what others have and comparing yourself to others will result in a bitter and frustrated life. You can only live your own life. It is natural to miss out on things, no matter who you are. Too much envy leads to self-destruction too.
Wrath - getting worked up over small things is objectively retarded and your enemies can use this against you easily. Beating up someone because he insulted you can result in more suffering for you in the end for example. Obviously very harmful in excess.
Greed - not sharing anything with others or not using what you have even for yourself because you are too much of a "jew" can backfire on you too. Like not going to the hospital for treatment even if you have the money.
Sloth - can result in not doing things that would benefit you or people you care about. Can lead to self-destructive apathy and being content with lying around all day.
Gluttony - obviously very harmful to the health in excess.
Lust - can make you do retarded things, can result in many bad things like stds, unnecessary conflicts/suffering, ultimately also self-destructive if taken to excess.

Deconstruction of christian values and anything associated with them is so mainstream and part of pop culture nowadays. Felt like the contrarian now so I defended these values.

All of them are pretty meaningless when you think about it. But the most destructive ones are pride, envy and wrath.

Greed is the only thing I conflict with because our system pushes us to greed with how our economy is and how everything has to cost money for apparent reason. Without money in America, you're worthless, end of story.

>muh taxes
You could search a bit amongst libright ideologues. While ancaps advocate for chaos, the moderate ones do provide some basis with clearer insights about how evil is the hidden state behind cameras:

“When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men in a society, over the course of time they create for themselves a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.”
― Frédéric Bastiat

“Politics: the art of using euphemisms, lies, emotionalism and fear-mongering to dupe average people into accepting–or even demanding–their own enslavement.”
― Larken Rose

“It's not an endlessly expanding list of rights — the 'right' to education, the 'right' to health care, the 'right' to food and housing. That's not freedom, that's dependency. Those aren't rights, those are the rations of slavery — hay and a barn for human cattle.”
― Alexis de Tocqueville

“I'm not scared of the Maos and the Stalins and the Hitlers.
I'm scared of the thousands of millions of people that hallucinate them to be "authority", and so do their bidding, and pay for their empires, and carry out their orders.
I don't care if there's one looney with a stupid moustache. He's not a threat if the people do not believe in "authority".”
― Larken Rose

“The truth is, one who seeks to achieve freedom by petitioning those in power to give it to him has already failed, regardless of the response.
To beg for the blessing of “authority” is to accept that the choice is the master’s alone to make, which means that the person is already, by definition, a slave.”
― Larken Rose

“The world, viewed philosophically, remains a series of slave camps, where citizens – tax livestock – labor under the chains of illusion in the service of their masters.”
― Stefan Molyneux

Again with this retarded view of the world? If you really believe this garbage then grow some balls and move out of the "horrible slave camps" that first world nations are to any of the many places of the world were you can pay zero taxes and half or more of the population are in the black market and everything is done in cash.

You know why useless whinny bitches like you an Molyneux will never do it? Because you are too soft and spoiled to actually live in the brutal jungle that all those places are. You are all soft and love all the massive privilege, safety and commodity that all those taxes and big government has build for you and could not stand to live in a place were the roads are all made out of dirt, garbage is all over the place, power goes out every other day and you can't take your cellphone out of your pocket or you will be robbed immediately. That is how the world without strong government and taxes looks like, were every man is on his own with nobody telling them what to do, and you are too much of a pussy to live in it.

Out laziness. Jungles bring not much but attention from (((first world))) so being visible is the worst thing one can do.

>this how things without taxes can do

As a minarchist, I do not reject taxation fully, rather make it dependant on whoever needs the service, so the state acts a loan agent instead of draining everyone for the sake of a little bunch of degenerates or infortunated ones. You mistook me for an ancap.
>too much of a pussy bcoz do not want to get robbed by dubious elite

Bootlicking mastery, here. But if mankind is so worthless then it is obvious that whoever gets in power will also be a mess so you lost your point even before starting it.

The mother of every vice is said to be pride. Because first you have to think you are important enough to put yourself above others. If we lived in a world of humility then everyone would be sharing and generous. Because they wouldn't prioritize their own self-interest before everything.

>>260974
The world you want is pretty much normal paradise. A world where everyone works and gets things for himself. Very anti-wizardly.
The wiz-friendly ideologies are either authoritarian ideologies like state communism or absolute monarchy or aristocracy of some kind. That or anarcho communism where society treats everyone equally or at least tries to and gives us free stuff. The first category because if wizards happen to luck out they can leech off forever as a party member, aristocrat or servant of the king. The second category because obviously people like us with nothing/NEETs would benefit the most from equality.

Your libertarianism is nothing but slavery while pretending to be free. You are only free if your stomach is full and don't have to worry about bills and working and such. Lol Who cares whether you have to pay taxes or not? Give me free stuff, man.

>>260988

my understanding of christian reasoning is that all so-called sin stems from pride, as all sin is rooted in rebellion against god, and that is why lucifer is the "author of evil" for rebelling out of his pride (of course, this is all nonsense)

>>260987
>you are too soft and spoiled to actually live in the brutal jungle that all those places are. not those wizzies (and not even a lolbert) but there are likely people living like that in your country right now, where there are no public roads and intermittent power at best. more important than the state in such places is the local culture, as the only thing stopping people rustling livestock, a hunt passing through an estate turning into a robbery, or people dumping stuff in rivers or wells are their cultural values

>Pride - being too full of yourself (without reasons) means you are delusional and have a god complex.
>"Knowing" everything better than everyone else can be very harmful to you. Plus too much pride can mean you refuse help from others. It leads to self-destruction in this sense.
Yes, but if you dont have pride at all, then you would never put yourself above others, so other people could literally stomp on you, if they are full of pride.
>Wrath - getting worked up over small things is objectively retarded and your enemies can use this against you easily. Beating up someone because he insulted you can result in more suffering for you in the end for example. Obviously very harmful in excess.
But if you completely lack wrath then people could bully you and stomp on your face, because you wont get angry that easily. So being wrathy sometimes could save your life.
>Greed - not sharing anything with others or not using what you have even for yourself because you are too much of a "jew" can backfire on you too. Like not going to the hospital for treatment even if you have the money.
But if you lack greed, people could easier rob you and steal something from you, because you re too altruistic. If you were greedy you would be completely pissed off if somebody messes with your things.

So - pride, wrath and greed are good things, if you dont overdose them. Homever better to overdose them than to lack them.

Sloth is partially good/partially bad.

Lust, gluttony and envy are useless and only could cause problems.

You understand well. Pride is the source of all evil.

>>261035
What you are talking about is self-defense, not pride/wrath/greed. It is possible to defend yourself without being a sociopath. You don't have to hate your enemy in order to defend yourself or those close to you. You don't have to be a cocky, arrogant person in order to prevent people from "stomping on you". You don't have to be a greedy dwarf in order to protect your property.

>Sloth is partially good/partially bad.

In this case too, it isn't sloth to rest or to play around. It is sloth when you don't help others/yourself because you are too lazy.

Truth. I agree 100%.

>What you are talking about is self-defense, not pride/wrath/greed. It is possible to defend yourself without being a sociopath.
In the past self-defense was very hard for me. I dont know, perhaps its because I was social phophic and depressed guy with hard life experiences.
So what about self-defense for specific people like me? Dont you think that a little of wrath, pride and greed wont make me stronger and harder target to bully?

 No.261109

These vices will only make you miserable. They aren't considered vices in christian circles because they are harmful to the community only but because they are harmful to your soul/mental state too. There is a difference between self defense and giving in to your wrath/pride/greed like I said.

Like all vices they feel right in the moment you give in to them but afterwards you will regret it.
Pride will make you ignorant, cocky and detached from reality. It is a state of error above all. Greed will make you value material things above all and this way will cause you more suffering. And wrath will result in you being a raging bull who lashes out at everyone or anything in his way.

You don't need these things. You are better off living a moderate life where you are in control all the time.

>They aren't considered vices in christian circles because they are harmful to the communit
Christian values sometimes are just bullshit. For example they teach us that suffering ennobles and that you should sometimes turn the other cheek.
>There is a difference between self defense and giving in to your wrath/pride/greed like I said.
As I said before, I self defense is much easier when you give yourself into wrath/pride/greed when somebody tries to attack you or make use of you. I m specific guy, who without these 3 attributes is almost defenseless.
>Pride will make you ignorant, cocky and detached from reality. It is a state of error above all. Greed will make you value material things above all and this way will cause you more suffering. And wrath will result in you being a raging bull who lashes out at everyone or anything in his way.
You're wrong. Only too much pride can make me ignorant. Greed could be good thing. If you're greedy, your greed can push you into professional development, which could in the future make you earn better salary at job and be less poor.
>And wrath will result in you being a raging bull who lashes out at everyone or anything in his way.
Only too much wrath could make that effect, you can show your wrath also in calm way without being a loud psycho.

Moderation is the most important thing. Everything has to be balanced.

 No.261186

>>261176
In other words we are saying exactly the same thing. But you confuse healthy and rational self-defense with pride/wrath/greed. Well, it is a game of words and definitions so I don't think we disagree that much.

>For example they teach us that suffering ennobles

This can be true, though. Same for turning the other cheek. There is more to life than just pure self-preservation, at least if you want to live a cultured and intelligent life.
