I identify with your posting OP. I was always a poorfag as well and first things I started buying when I joined the labour force was video games and toys I never had in my childhood. Meanwhile my cousins grew up in relative affluence with their own televisions and video game consoles in their bedrooms. And also cable tv.
Here are some of my favorite PS2 titels:

>GTA San Andreas
>Yakuza 1
>Yakuza 2
>007 Goldeneye Rogue Agent
>Tomb Raider series
>Metal Gear Solid series
>Tenchu
>God of War series

>Final Fantasy X
>Okami

I'm sorry but i want to share my conclusions on psVR with my fellow wizards.
Tldr- DONT BUY IT.
Some games are immersive as hell and I'm gonna sink a lot of time into it despite all the negatives below.
-resolution is too low. I can see single pixels.
-hardware is too weak to handle high quality textures and rendering. Most games look like what I see without my glasses on. Reading text is (in most cases) a low resolution strain on eyes. Sometimes it's not readable at all.
-tracking is not bad bud not what is the best. There is no boundary check to make sure I won't hit a wall. What I expect from vr is being able to walk around my room freely and without a fear of irl obstacles. this leads to a little feature that saves me from readjusting helmet after talking it off to look around irl
- there is no camera view that allows to walk around and see irl world.
So basically 3 big deal breakers for perfect vr experience. Space for movement is more elaborate topic because not everyone have an empty, 10 square meter room to walk around. Some people are fine with couch vr. But Being able to walk around garage in virtual rickality and reaching far away objects is great. Other games benefit from it too. That's why it's really important part of vr imo. (And don't forget porn games are exclusive for PC)
I'm using it for 2 days so far and on a second day I used it for an hour or two. I don't get the whole "vr legs" thing. There was one game "loading human" that gave me serious motion sickness; turning in farpoint and skyrim isn't easy for my brain either but there are other options for movement. I'm sticking to smooth turning because despite it's Caveats it doesn't break immersion unlike sharp turning/teleporting.
Oh and super hotVR is my favourite so far. It reminds me of hotline Miami but in 3d and VR with my whole body as part of the game. I have to move around to dodge bullets and get a better aim. Graphics don't need much processing power so it looks decently.
No.47346
>>46268Loved that game. Rented it as a kid from a chain similar to Blockbuster and had a blast finishing it. Personally, even as a kid, I thought the stealth sections were just as cool as those that focused on the combat. Not sure how I'd feel about it now exactly, but, either way, I have fond memories of it. Perhaps I'll even emulate it at some point, since it'd be interesting to revisit it after all this time.
As an aside, it's interesting to note that 'Shadow of Rome' was the prelude to the 'Dead Rising' series. The use of wrestling moves specifically, like in that gif, was something you can see that was imported over into DR. Would've liked to have seen a SoR 2 somehow instead of DR, but that's just me.

>>50491It depends on what you can find. You can probably find wayyyyy better prices for certain things. A Japanese PS2 can be scored for maybe like $100 bucks, while the games can vary from $20 all the way up to $100+ (IIDX Empress and DDR X were the main culprits). The Beatmania controllers can be a bit scarce, but there are plenty of way better third party options like the ones you can find at the following website:
https://www.gamo2.com/en/ The FP7 and the Platinum Edition Evolution are particularly popular alongside the newer Pheonixwan. As you can probably see, they are a bit expensive.
As far as DDR controllers, that's where it gets difficult. I mainly just use my PS2 controller to play them as finding a good DDR pad that is not expensive as shit is hard to come by. Stay away from DDRGame pads. They have weird sensors.
Overall, it depends on how dedicated to these games you are.
I've been playing DDR for a long time and played IIDX on and off until I got the PS2.
Ebay and Amazon are very good places to look for these things. Maybe Ebay more so.

My old PS2 is having trouble reading discs, anyone have any tips for what I can do?
No.50500
>>50498Trouble reading discs?
First of all, there are 2 problems that I know for the PS2, at least the slim variant in regards to loading games. The first issue is one that I've dealt with and that is that there is an unseen switch that the lid presses when its closed. This switch is responsible for telling the PS2 that the lid is closed and to proceed in spinning the disc. It likely wears out over time and, while there are more surgical ways to fix it, the solution that has helped me is to put some small weighted object on the top of the lid while you play. I use a NOKIA 3310 to hold the tray down personally, just to give you an idea of how much weight I put.
Now, if it's a legitimate read error, it could be a problem with the laser itself. Sometimes it just needs to be cleaned, but other times the part itself needs to be replaced. These parts can be bought on the internet. I haven't done this myself, so I don't know how it's done. But there are plenty of videos on the subject.
I hope everything goes well with you! :^)
