I'm such a low IQ subhuman. I fucking hate myself. I want to die.
I'm wasting away, I feel like my brain is further deteriorating every day.

I want to do something about this, but can't into math or logic unfortunately.

Is there a way to improve this with video games?

I got my PSP out recently and found it quite enjoyable to play the puzzle game 'Ecoshift'.

Are there any similar games? It doesn't have to be for the PSP but would be preferred because I don't have all the distractions on there I would have on my computer or phone.

thanks

there's a "game" called dual n-back that does improve working memory but you will find the experience of playing it agonizing

Get into a board game like go, shogi, riichi mahjong etc

Do sudoku and crosswords. Other games that help are turn based strategy and, dont laugh, doing Dynasty mode on Madden/Whatever sports (its like putting together a puzzle kinda) And also if you have high emotional and or verbal IQ I think that is more important than math/logic anyways. Just my advice

I'll take a look at it:-)
if I actually find the motivation. looks kinda hard to get into.

much more with those. they require a lot of will power I'm afraid to learn all the rules and stuff.

Intelligence is a generalized ability to solve problems and it seems stable throughout life. You can't increase it by playing video games or doing difficult cognitive tasks because you only get better at that particular task. If you spend a thousand hours playing chess, you will get better at chess, but your generalized ability to solve problems will remain stable. Even experts in particular fields are rarely better at things outside of it because it never generalizes.

If your only motivation to play these games is to increase intelligence then don't bother, you'll just get better at virtual abstract tasks. Maybe read books or learn programming because at the end of all that effort you acquire some knowledge or practical skill. Anything you do for a prolonged amount of time, you'll get better at, but not everything is worth the time and effort investment.

I named the one exception and that is dual n-back. It only improves one aspect of IQ and that is working memory. It isn't fun, perhaps even painful, and can hardly be considered a game.

I thought it was settled that DNB didn't even improve WM meaningfully? In any case, the factor loading is in the wrong direction here, so it doesn't matter.

Research on the subject is a bit sketchy and I strongly doubt you would like the kinds of games that have any effect.
Like there are straigh up educational game, or ones built on logic puzzles and reasoning skills, or even just autism fulled sim and stratagy games that requre you to use your brains to actually do well.

the kind of puzzle games you seem to be talking about would do nothing.
Go play some actual educational games.

Some puzzle games I've personally enjoyed

Kula World on the PS1 - Neat 3D platforming puzzle game that's fairly easy to get into. Later levels get more difficult as you go on and the game ends if you reach 0 points (you lose points by dying) but there's save and continue functionality every few levels that you can use to make it easier.

Sutte Hakkun for the SNES - 2D platforming puzzle game where you use different colored paints to affect block and platform movement. Controls are very simple and it's easy to get into like Kula but I'd say it's pretty difficult in some of the later levels

Baba Is You on PC - Really unique sokoban type game where you use word blocks to control the game-world logic. It's easy to get stuck on some levels even early on and bash your head against the wall for hours so I'd only recommend it in short bursts though. When a solution finally comes to you it's pretty satisfying though.

Stephen's Sausage Roll on PC - Also a sokoban game but slightly more traditional than Baba, you use a fork to skewer sausages and need to cook all sides of them to complete a level. Pretty hard from the beginning so you might end up hitting a wall as early as the first level, but it gets a little better once you get the hang of it.

Zachtronics also makes a bunch of different puzzle games on PC, of which I've only tried Opus Magnum and Infinifactory. Infinifactory is probably the most intuitive since you're basically putting together assembly lines. Some of their other games are pretty pretty much lite assembly programming type stuff that's probably harder to get into.

Layton games on the DS and 3DS are fun if you want riddle-like puzzles, although I recall some of the puzzles having some 'gotchas' due to poor wording.

Puzzle games don't actually make you any smarter.
At least not the kind you seem to be taking about.

probably one of the most devastating inventions of the 21st century.I have to admit the psp was pretty much a precurser, but nothing compared to the hell smartphones have brought upon this world

Anime posters are all attention whores who pretend to be smug despite being the most insecure. This insecurity is why they have to post anime faces all the time, they don't think their posts have enough merit to stand on their own.
