Hello everybody, in this thread I would like you to talk about games you kept an eye on but eventually got canned. Not just (potential) masterpieces, just titles that stirred your interest for one reason or another. Here's mine:
1) Timesplitters 4 (
https://www.unseen64.net/2009/03/24/time-splitters-4-x360ps3-cancelled/ ): I really enjoyed the trilogy and feel quite nostalgic about its satire. Nowadays it's harder to take things lightly
2) The Dark Knight (
https://www.unseen64.net/2009/03/31/batman-dark-knight-x360ps3-cancelled/ ): Do you remember the 2008 Batmania? I remember it fondly! I was eagerly waiting to play the game after watching the movie (and eating the pizza:
http://channel13metal.blogspot.com/2012/01/dominos-gotham-city-pizza.html )
3) Chrono resurrection (
https://chrono.fandom.com/wiki/Chrono_Resurrection ): This one, a fan project, was supposed to recreate Chrono Trigger in 3D. Square Enix sent a "cease and desist". They could have picked it up à la Valve with Counter Strike, if you ask me.

>>53351A lot of stuff to be said IMH:
How SOE was too scared of zoomers not to gratify them with that minecraft shit.
How Sony (I presume), decided to part ways with SOE soon after.
How it could have definitely revamped the EQ brand but, like most good things, turned to shit.

>>53358It would be interesting to find out how much of Silent Hills got into Death Stranding.
On a different note, I always wondered how much Guillermo Del Toro was actually involved in the project other than definitely being a buzz name.

Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun
Instead we got some retarded multiplayer shooter that died after like a year

Years and years ago I remember Snoop Dog was coming out with a 3rd person shooter that was somewhat similar in gameplay to True Crime:Streets of LA game (if you remember that).
Really sressing my memory but I think it was going to be called something like Fear and Respect but I am not sure.
From what was published about it in gameinformer and a few now gone websites it looked a lot better then the 50 cent games that came out a few years later.
Still not as cool as Def Jam though. That game was great.

>>53367True Crime was a very good game, deserving a lot more praise than what it got IMH.
About Fear and Respect, you mention, it definitely looks cool as hell, considering the time

>>53365Digging a bit, it turns out the story of "Legacy of Kain" as a franchise is a lot more convoluted than what I thought. Thanks for the hint. This article is worth reading if you feel like:

>>53373Yeah it was a bit of a shitshow from the start, with stuff like Silicon Knights and Crystal Dynamics fighting over the 1st game. Gonna check that thread out, looks interesting.

>>53376This of course is of the highest ranks of games to cause butthurt, or lack of games as they planned literally a third but capitalism literally got in the way.
Not that I play it but:

>>55010I don't want to spam this image over and over again to make people understand but I guess I have to.
Mml1 and 2 were early gamers. They were dweebs, like wizards, later gamers are normalfaggots that like cod and madden and gta and etc.
Think the image over and you'll realize in shock that them saying it's the fan's fault means 'we didn't have as many people to make it for by comparison to [insert normalfag game]' as after all most people are normal ergo most people get catered to, not that oldfaggot dweeb.
Literally they said 'not enough support' to make it.

>>55007>>53376it is kind of funny how stuff like legends and zx didn't get sequels when they needed them but X literally had a definite ending and capcom still pumped out three more games for it. I have no idea how well mm11 sales did or all the lc's but depending on that we might see a continue of mml, but doubtful, mmexe/sf collection should be coming out next year so there is still interest in the series I guess
>>55012imo every single game on that list is garbage/casual crap for normals, it all getting homogenized into cod isnt a surprise, Im surprised 2011 isnt skyrim though

>>55068Come to think of it, the fact that they kept pushing X as the flagship Megaman, while all of the innovation was being relegated to handhelds, is probably why the franchise completely lost relevancy around the 6th to 7th gen.
I wonder how things would look if Zero was made as a 3D action game for consoles, while the later X games came out on GBA instead.

>>53324THQ Nordic acquired both the Timesplitters IP and Dambuster studios (former Free Radical) a few years back. After that they announced they'd be making some kind of new Timesplitters. It's been a while but at least there's been a new sign of life.
