Hey. What character I like from anime?
I like Scar from FMA and FMA B. Why? Because he was mysterious and his country was treated poorly when there was a war.
But after war was over he came after alchemists, because he wanted revenge so much.

That impressed me.

Are there any character who wanted revenge in anime? Give me examples of them.

Char Aznable spent a good chunk of his life getting into the high ranks of the Zeon army only to have a chance to kill the ruling family from the inside.

Oh I guess I forgot to expand on the revenge part, but basically the ruling family killed his father so they could seize power and twist his ideology into their liking. Char got really angry about that.

Keith Flick from B: The Beginning is motivated by revenge pretty heavily. His adopted little sister who was in love with him was killed and the guy who confessed to the murder didn't actually do it. He spends the next decade working to arrest/expose the real killer. If that ain't revenge I don't know what is.

You might want to check out 91 Days, the whole series is built around the protagonist seeking revenge for his family.

 No.30903

The mc of Vinland Saga is motivated by revenge, he joins the guy who killed his father so he could betray him at some point

Gun X Sword counts I guess.
It was aright in it's own right, but it felt more then a little like a rip off of trigun.

Can you at least contribute when you bump? It's not hard. Like this

Togame from katanagatari.

It was an interesting sci-fi take on the classic novel, really liked the somewhat contrasting ed theme.

>be lame western animation studio Disney.
>make a movie about a deer who's mom dies, then tries to survive a wildfire, find his dad, and find a succubus friend.
>be awesome eastern Japanese animation studio.
>make a movie about a lamb who's mom dies in a wolf attack.
>Lamb pursues wolf and asks the wolf he can be more like him.
>Wolf shows him the ugly side of life and how survival is what only matters.

holy shit this cartoon was dark.

I had no idea about it until tfm made a video about it.
Gave it a watch then and yes indeed it both fits the bill for this thread and is a surprisingly good watch that is darker then it's art style initially lets on.

>Scar as a vengeful character
You know how his arc ends, right? I wish more anime let vengeful characters be vengeful, rather than see it as an affliction that needs to be cured.

 No.35413

>>35407
Most vengeance arcs leave the character inert once they get vengeance unless they get additional character development.
Since most people enjoy well written character development of interesting characters that is the better path if you want to keep that character around in a long form narrative.

A simpler vengeance motivated character works best in shorter and more action focused narratives where there lack of depth isn't as much of a issue.

Togame from katanagatari.

Kind of a weird case that one.
