Watched the movie but did anyone here got to watch any episode? Are they worth being looked for?

 No.38542

You mean you saw the movie before watching season one? Anyway I think it's great. Definitely worth watching

I think he means that the movie was cut into episodes and broadcast on tv as its own season. It has some new scenes but isn't important, the movie is better.

Wait really? The fucks the point of making it a movie in the first place then?

No, and they are basically nonexistent. The main one doesn't even talk. This show has zero romance. Good drama and action though.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (鬼滅の刃) is visually spectacular but it does nothing that I (a long-time anime fan) have not seen before. Best as a my first shonen fighting anime..

 No.38776

I've been thinking about picking it up, I think almost all japanese learning podcasts I've been listening to have talked about it, one of them even mentioned "キメハラ", a harassment over people who haven't watched or didn't like it, I feel like I'm missing out.

Anything with samurai sells in japan

 No.39233

The writing is similar to that of other shounen so it's not great. I was also put off by the constant use of CG. But I still enjoyed it because of the historical setting, there's not that many anime about the Taisho era.

I'd say there isn't that much good Japanese media with a historical setting. At least when it comes to anime and video-games. It seems like Japanese people are way more into unrealistic sci-fi and fantasy settings.

Dude really? I think Japs are the only people who like their own history enough to make media of it. I could list you tons of "historical" anime and video games. Think how many times you've seen oda nobunaga show up in something.

The West makes a shitton of historical media, the West was far less isolated than Japan so there's more potential settings. Pirates, Crusades, Vikings, cowboys etc.
>I could list you tons of "historical" anime and video games
I've seen a few good historical anime but you can't deny that they are far less numerous than those of other genres. As for games, I'm not that much of a gamer anyway but the only Japanese game with a historical setting that I've both tried and enjoyed was Sekiro.

Nioh 1 and 2 are historical fiction, and there’s lots of musous about the warring states. I don’t think it’s fair to lump the west together, cause China also makes a lot of historical fiction.
