>It's not a scam, nobody lies to you. People who play the lottery know (or should know) their chances are practically zero.
It is a scam because it takes advantage of people that don't understand statistics and probability. There are many other sources of gambling like the stock market which are objectively a better way to spend your money. It is also marketed to people by psychologically manipulative, disingenuous methods.

It'd be a scam if they told them they have higher chances of winning. Let me clarify I'm not defendig the lottery, I think gambling in general is stupid. And I agree when you say they use psychologically manipulative and disingenuous methods. But I still don't think it's a scam.

You are talking about porn on a site where people don't have any sex at all.
There is no stopping someone from getting straight porn on the internet.
The only people, even prison gay people, who seek out gay porn do so because they are actually gay. Not because they have no other options to get off.

Satan?

But really though, outside of cases of isolated populations I don't think that is the case.
Even if it was it wouldn't be the same as prison gay since it is driven by situational circumstance such as being locked in a all male environment.
I mean whores are a thing and are universally available. Similarly there are low standard sluts that will sleep with anyone that pays them attention and gives them stuff like food and drink.
This may be because I am a outsider to the whole mating/sex chasing thing, but if your goal was just sex with a succubus it actually is really easy, especially if you have some spending money. Not being gay at all, even a complete hambeast of a gross succubus is still more physically appealing on a pure lust level then a man. Such low value succubi are usually pretty easy to sleep with from my observations. At least if they have the esteem/self worth that properly aligns with their sexual market place value.
And I will say it again, as long as you aren't totally flat broke, whores are always a option.

You have to put yourself out there to get it though. I’m not “prison gay”, I’ve had an attraction to men for a long time. However, I never put myself out there. Same for most crab types, they aren’t willing to put themselves out there for it. So in practice it isn’t really any easier. It’s the same with straight sex really. If you went out of your way for it, you could just pay for sex.

My mother forced a family meeting, and my sister being a succubus of course, asked me why I don't go to parties , mocking me that I do not have life experience because I am isolating myself in my room, never had a job, girlfriend, shit like this, I briefly told her my outlook on life (which she disregarded completely because "muh life experience") and she was "I understand you , you don't understand me , YOU NEED FRIENDS, I AM TRYING TO HELP YOU" and so on, of course I sperged out and told her to leave me alone.
Now all of my family members look down on me like I am a homonculus.
At least my gut feeling was right and I should've just nod and leave, they only care for me to be there just to give me shit.

Wrong, actually
>we find that students from lower-income families were less likely to hold a growth mindset than their wealthier peers, but those who did hold a growth mindset were appreciably buffered against the deleterious effects of poverty on achievement: students in the lowest 10th percentile of family income who exhibited a growth mindset showed academic performance as high as that of fixed mindset students from the 80th income percentile. These results suggest that students’ mindsets may temper or exacerbate the effects of economic disadvantage on a systemic level.

The words "Reproducibility Crisis" don't mean that research group A cannot issue endless papers backing up their own claims that secondhand smoke is harmless, they mean that other research groups cannot recreate the same results from the same study.

Since you're fond of bigger n rather than targeted sampling (and since this study itself is paywalled and I need to reach the pertinent information indirectly):
http://www.educationalneuroscience.org.uk/resources/neuromyth-or-neurofact/intelligence-is-fixed/
>That said, a brand new analysis has been released of all the papers that have been published on a) the relationship between mind-set and academic achievement and b) the extent to which interventions to change mind-set can impact on academic achievement [x]. Considering the data from over 400,000 individual participants, the authors found a very weak relationship between mind-set and academic achievement (r¯ = .10), with only 37% of the studies included showing a significant, positive association. Furthermore, of those studies which attempted to positively impact on academic achievement by changing students’ mindset, only 12% found a significant, positive benefit. Notably, studies were more likely to find positive effects if they taught mind-set through reading materials, and if students came from low socioeconomic backgrounds, suggesting that this technique may still have potential for some children.
Since effects are so conditional, a plausible scenario is that students from low socioeconomic backgrounds have to compensate for lower external investment in order to have any motivation to do any educational work at all, and so the "growth mindset" condition of study itself raises the level of external investment in the student, which is entirely different from the internal factor association of mindset focus.

The link between "growth mindset" and self-help inspired by occultism is fairly obvious, as it is usually the same sites and same individuals selling both, as well as a few researchers desperate to disbelieve the scientific consensus that IQ is largely genetic and otherwise environmentally determined.
As for the behavior of educators who embrace this, that's been a matter of personal observation.

A possible reason for the test on chinese children being unable to reproduce the results is that they did not control for poverty like the Claro et al study does. As the study points out, children from an impoverished background are more likely to hold a fixed mindset to intelligence, which would mean that analyzing just the mindset without looking at anything else wouldn't necessarily show anything. Doesn't in any way show a "reproducibility crisis".
Here's another study:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5147462/#B1
Which shows that:
>all the variables, including students’ growth mindset, resilience, psychological well-being and school engagement, were significantly and positively related.

This does contradict your initial claim that
>Mindset has no effect on educational/skill development.
It clearly does. Don't move the goalposts and try to say that it doesn't count because it's not good enough for you or speculate that growth mindset students are receiving higher investment for some reason, with nothing to back that up. Even if higher external investment was the cause, growth mindset, an internal trait, is still the thing causing that.

I just made a steak and it served as a reminder as to how shit my parent's taste is. They always thought that if there was any pink in the meat it was underdone and overcooking shit was better than undercooking it. Then of course they would drown the steak in steak sauce because it was so tasteless.

I slightly overcooked my steak (ended up medium to well instead of medium rare) but still it way WAAAAY fucking tastier than anything that my parents made.

I think my parents got used to the taste of burned beef so that when they taste properly cooked beef they think it is undercooked. I had this reaction itially as well the first time I ate something that wasn't burned to all fuck, but once you actually get used to the taste of beef, it is fucking delicious.

I can only tell you about getting a polished edge, not a "toothy" edge which pretty much everyone prefers. I hate that shit. The anon who mentioned sandpaper…that's where you start. Many people insist on using stones, but we're not all made out of money. Sandpaper works and it's cheap.

I polish with a full series of sandpaper grits from the lowest one necessary (depends on how dull the edge is) up to 2000 grit that I buy at walmart. Places sell 3000 grit and higher but those are expensive. 2000 is high enough anyway, after which I strop with red rouge and green chromium oxide, which are around 5000 and 8000 grit respectively iirc. The rouge (iron oxide) can be a solid stick of polishing compound they sell in hardware stores, or a paste for a strop. The green oxide is a paste and can be expensive, but there's an alternative. Art stores sell tubes of green chromium oxide paint in an oil base, it's chemically the same thing and like 1/3rd the price. It's what I always use.

Sharpening method is another matter though. If you google it, please don't use the "mousepad" sandpaper method that's recommended everywhere because you'll basically blunt the edge. Use a flat, rigid surface for the sandpapers. I'm going to bed now.

 No.228271

The fuck?
I actually just looked that up because I never heard of it and yeah, that is fucking retarded. I would have thought it was a troll but it is really wide spread and a lot of people believe it for some reason.

I will say that stones are cheaper in the long run then sandpaper, and even the ultra cheap China shitstones can work for rough sharpaning then a proper stone for the fine on up.
I almost never strop because again, I don't like sharpening things all the time and I rarely need a edge that sharp 99% of the time.
Still, good advice though.

They do, but they wear down very quickly because they're artificial stones.
>I will say that stones are cheaper in the long run then sandpaper
Yeah but there's a couple problems with that for anyone who doesn't sharpen a ton of stuff all the time, like a professional chef, or doesn't feel like investing much time. Using stones involves a higher learning curve, more delicacy, and eventually you wear a recess into the middle that needs to be lapped flat on another stone (more time & $). If you want hair whittling sharpness you're buying japanese waterstones, too, so there's even more money and learning/maintenance time + higher learning curve.

Sandpaper is great if you only sharpen every now and then. It's cheap and easy to learn and maintenance free and allows superfine edges.

You aren't wrong.
It is a prefrence thing because I learned on stones. As for the chinies ones wearing out, that takes years for myself or most people and like I said, I use it for the rough stuff.
For fine/finer I really like Arkansas water stones. Those things are worth the money and last for decades with regular use because they are harder then most others. I have a couple of small field kit size ones that I use for pocket knifes rather then those big bench stones. While they make them all the way up to ultra fine "hair whittling sharpness" kind of stones, such a edge (and work for such a edge) isn't my personal preference.

It's useful if you properly learn it and use it to divine about yourself. You can go about it either in a ritualistic manner or in a more open way (like creating your own method). Personally, I prefer the ritualistic method (Solomon's circle), but you'll need to find which you want to use.

Do you have any tips for a beginner? Are all tarot decks equal? I see lots of trendy ones, like "kawaii tarot cards" (pic related).

What should I get obsessed with and dedicate my time and energy to?

 No.228453

>>228448
Tips for beginners, eh, let's see.

If you are completely new, I'd say that generally, you want to have a clear mind beforehand (which means you should meditate beforehand until your mind has settled down), and that you should have the attitude that the cards are either alive or are connected to a higher power (god, the universe, whatever), and what you do is just translate what they mean. Be a bit humble, have respect towards the cards, and have the mindset of an interpreter/translator.

Generally speaking, what deck you choose stylewise doesn't matter as much since you will be channeling will into them/"marking" the deck with your question. If you wanna go hardcore, you can find old (like 50+-100+ years old) decks, and there is something there, but you don't really need them if you aren't going at it super hardcore.

The only real difference in decks are the prescribed meanings and the deck size.

If you buy an actual deck, they often come with an interpretation chart, which in some cases can include or exclude some specific meaning compared to others. As such, no matter the deck, it's best to stick with 1 source for interpreting, otherwise stuff might get a bit mixed up. (interpretation sources can be found online or in physical books. I myself use a physical book due to not being a native englishspeaker)

Really what's important in deck is it's size/ if it's a Major or Minor Arcana.
Major Arcana includes the "major" cards (like the hanged man, the fool, the magician/pope, the king, etc), while the Minor Arcana includes the lesser cards (1-10, plus a Page, Knight, King, and a Queen) times four (for Sword, Wand, Cup and Coin).

It's up to you if you chose to only use one, the other, or both, but in general, the more cards there are, the more the deck (and by extension, the read itself) will be unique after a shuffle.

Aside from that, there's like a million of ways to do a reading, and another million quirks people might incorporate. Some people opt to draw 1 card, some opt to draw 3, some 7, some take into account cards that fall out during a shuffle, others always half the deck, so the method will either be the one you look up or the one you develop yourself. At the beginning, I'd advise to looking up a method and using it. If you feel it ain't working, just go to the next one.

Don't mention it wiz.

For the most part, the rules of procuring a divination or a read might differ, but the card's meanings are usually the same or very relevant to other meanings (even between different sources), but it should be noted that there are differences.

Also generally speaking there are ritualistic/"ancient" ways to do a read, but most nowadays don't use such methods and instead rely more heavily on intuition.
In general, these are the generally most used spreads
https://www.learnreligions.com/tarot-spreads-4051812

Added to that it's also a question of inner intuition and "logic" to interpret. Sometimes a card might not seem immedietly relevant to the asked question, but putting it into context it can make much sense.

I've no personal experience with reading for other people other than like twice for one of my family member who I know very well, so making correct interpretations was easy.
For my own self though, I do read with relative frequency, and I can tell you that it does aid me in understanding things.

Where do you believe the cards come from? Is it god? Is it the cards themselves?

 No.228496

>>228476
Oh, the cards themselves are very physical. It's not like the cards were sent from the divine realm to this one. The cards either come via being handcrafted by a human, being produced in a factory, or in some cases, even just printing it out.
Rather, the cards are something of a communication tool that connects to something higher. This communication is something that you as the reader will have to facilitate.

Whenever it is God, the Universe, Fate, Angel or Demon, or the cards themselves, is really up to your internal intuition and spiritual ideas and feelings that you can attribute to. It is something that will develop with your method and "sense" of the cards.

For me, since I printed a Major and Minor Arcana deck for myself, I spent a good number of hours to make them solid and not fimsy. I just use the method similiar to the one they used with divining mirrors, which is to focus and fill it with elemental and a few other energy types, then visualizing the cards themselves come to life, all connected by a glowing golden thread. So for example, my way more leans towards a construct/servitor approach to the cards.
