This documentary reminds me of human society. Only the most selfish, barbaric, and unrelenting creatures survive by taking advantage of others. Every decision, every situation effects your chances of survival.

This is the natural state of the animal and human world.

 No.258592

That's a very simplistic world view. Social animals are generally a lot more complicated and being selfish and barbaric generally isn't the best strategy when a group could easily decide to cooperate and kill you off. It seems most animals follow a tit-for-tat strategy where they remember bad players and take revenge, as well as the opposite.

Yes, most people are selfish and care about their own needs but people that act like insufferable narcissists generally don't do well. A tyrant can rule only for so long until he gets killed in the public square by an angry mob.

A tyrant that can't rule effectively. If you're an effective tyrant, there would be no way for the angry mob to kill you or even fight back.

>act like insufferable narcissists generally don't do well

So a filthy rich narcissistic billionaire that fires 2,000 people for not making enough money for him in a single phone call can't do well? Come on.

And how does he have power? Because of his inner circle that controls the military, police, judges etc. He doesn't have to worry about the average citizen but he has to keep his lieutenants happy otherwise they will stage a coup and take over. Same thing with gang leaders, they're kept around as long as their leaderships brings in profit and other players benefit. It's really difficult to be on top without the right social structure that keeps you there.

The regular worker doesn't mean shit to him, but his board can easily replace him if he fails to meet quarterly goals and loses them money. His power depends on cooperation with the right individuals.

A person can be as selfish, barbaric, and unrelenting as society lets him be and in our current society, they're basically free to do whatever they want as long it doesn't break the law.

Everything is done in the interest of the self.

Sure man, we're just like the lion and the zebra on the savannah. It's be or be killed, dog eat dog, one chimp to rule the all. This is not reductionistic at all.

Paradox of being a ruler is that you have to make sure your enforcers are obedient. No one rules alone despite how tyrants try to convince you otherwise.
