There is a Vocaloid thread†¹ on /music/ and there is not a Vocaloid thread on /jp/. This is a problem. Vocaloid is a software suite aiding in producing multimedia extending beyond just music. There are:

-Vocaloid Books
-Vocaloid Musics
-Vocaloid Animations
-Vocaloid Games
-Vocaloid DRM-free desktop pets
-Vocaloid Mods
-Vocaloid Art
-Vocaloid Merchandise

Only one of these things (Vocaloid Music) can be discussed on /music/. All of them can be discussed on /jp/.
This thread acts as a proposition to move the Vocaloid thread to /jp/ so we can discuss the many types of Vocaloid media.

Thank you.
The original software came with a lengthy instruction manual. It's safe to assume those who influenced Vocaloid's popularity read this book before ever publishing anything. The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku has been a book for as long as I remember seeing it being for sale. There are tens of thousands of Doujin works available for purchase too.

>doesn't know how to link to threads
Why should you be taken seriously?

9dbe4 No.62674

The cross-board hotlinking feature is convenient but falls apart when threads are moved to archive or missing entirely. Using the whole URL is more versatile in the long run, allowing users to find the thread in their browser histories and on third-party archiving services such as Archive.is . Please, I have long since learned how to cite posts properly and have been educating users on how to do so for many years. >>>/music/8005 is an example of me doing it correctly.

There are also Vocaloid skins, like for Steam and for KDE's K Desktop Environment, but these might count as mods.

0275e No.62681

There are also people who livestream themselves creating Vocaloid works, and these streams are commonly music-free so they wouldn't belong on /music/.

also, someone cooked up some vocaloid-shaped pancakes one time

It's true, like that Miku toast maker (discontinued).

If there are no objections I will report the thread to be moved

I object.

at the end of the day vocolaid is primarily music related. and a subject for /music/. it would be the same as saying there should be allowed a rice/soy sauce thread for jp becuase there are so many other things related to rice and soy sauce when its at base a ck topic.

e085a No.62790

Idol anime are primarily music related yet they stay on /jp/. I listed all of the other types of Vocaloid media and there are far more entries combined of these non-music pieces of media than there are strictly music related medias. Vocaloid is a software first, a multimedia franchise second.
