While i dont embrace pessimistic anti-natalism,since im still christian,I have gone from being anti-succubi to slowly becoming anti-human contact.
Im seeing even enterteinment, such as super sentai or anime,to be a bad way to spend time, I even lost most interest in my own phsyical apperace(I used to want to body-build)
as i said im christian so I struggle to pray more and learn more about my religion,i dunno if any monastery will accept me,but Im feeling a mix of nostalgia for chilhood with anprim hatred of industrial society.

Life is not inherently shitty or depressing, it's modern life. There is a reason why people are obsessed with escapism, depressed, put on psychiatric drugs and are more mentally ill than ever. Read the 'The Technological Society'' and realize that the problem is that you're not living a real life, but instead a regimented, nihilistic, soulless and inhuman existence. Find God.

entire premise is wrong because god's non existence and the lack of objective/cosmic meaning is why life sucks, unwinding technology won't fix that…almost any burden can be shouldered if it's understood the pain and suffering isn't just dust in the wind, it won't help much if you're toiling as a hunter gatherer or farmer with the knowledge that your life is an arbitrary thing in the grand scheme. but that's how it is…sorry to the religious wizards

 No.167978

I am a hedonist and I find the idea of gods/God to be really horrible, if they or He does exist then I can say with confidence that no god is worth serving. Lots of people say it is only the abrahamic religions which are faulty but I can't accept any religion at all because they are aimed at their core at making humanity/existence continue on in some way. Most buddhists reproduce, most hindus reproduce, and so on. The purpose of religions have always been to maintain some level of peace and order among the community. I kind of agree with Schopenhauer who said religions are only useful for communicating concepts, which would be otherwise hard to grasp, to the average man.

Take Christianity for example: Jesus suffering and dying holds the message/concept that life is supposed to be suffering and there is nothing wrong with it, after all God himself couldn't escape suffering so we shouldn't try either.
But on the other hand, I refuse gnosticism too. The Father of Light is either completely powerless or simply doesn't care about us, otherwise He would give us more comfort and strength. Also, gnosticism pushes the problem only a few levels back, since The Monad is the source of everything, even if indirectly and if so then how could existence be this bad?

Long story short, I dislike all religions. They may have done some good concerning the lessening of pain and suffering in the world but overall they do more harm than good.

>industrial society

>modern life
Not this nonsense again. Modern life is superior in every way when you compare it to how people lived before. The fact alone that computers and the internet exist make it possible for me to have access to an infinite amount of entertainment. Why would you want to live as a goat shepherd who doesn't do anything all day except for getting bored to death?

>>167956
>Life is not inherently shitty or depressing
But it is.
People are obsessed with escapism because they are slowly realizing that real life isn't worth living. By the way, it is only a minority who is obsessed with escapism, most normals still prefer the real world because they refuse to take off their rose-tinted glasses.
>depressed, put on drugs, more mentally ill than ever
Psychiatry and psychology is a very new thing. But if they existed before I guarantee you there would have been much, much more mentally ill people officially recognized in let's say, the middle ages for example. If anything, the modern man is more stable than his predecessors, thanks to improved living conditions, less burdens and access to escapism.

Hi OP, shitty christian here. I understand your issues.

>I have gone from being anti-succubi

Yes, the female nature. But all succubi? I still think humble virgin church succubi are worth their salt, since they fear God and therefore will take care of their marriage as their priority in life. They are increasingly rare though.

>to slowly becoming anti-human contact.

Me as well. Most people suck. Society sucks hard. But I try to remind myself that Jesus died for us, even though we are so disgusting. If the sinless King of Kings loved all of us, how can I despise humanity?
Sometimes I do. Most of us are shitty, and some of us are really, really vile.
But I'm not that much better than them, so I try feeling compassion/praying for them instead of anger/disdain.

34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
35 The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”
36 The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar 37 and said, “If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.”

But I understand these feelings wizbrother. I do.

>I'm seeing even entertainment, such as super sentai or anime,to be a bad way to spend time

I went through the same, and now I think it was just a natural rejection of escapism. You will find new mature/realistic tastes in the end. Be it more mature anime or other in other media.

>I even lost most interest in my own phsyical apperace(I used to want to body-build)

Well, seems like you were motivated by the wrong reasons. Have you considered (western) self-defense? It will motivate you to stay fit while you learn survival skills.

>so I struggle to pray more and learn more about my religion

Same boat. Best of wishes.

>i dunno if any monastery will accept me

I have this same desire as well. Modern society is not for me. So much pointless and artificial worries/procedures/tribalism.
If you're already 30+ you can try. Being a monk is certainly not for everyone, but I'm pretty sure anyone willing can try.

Stop caring about others, stop feeling empathy towards others, stop feeling pity for anyone - including yourself - and live only in the moment, ignore the past and the future altogether -> this way I guarantee you that you will enjoy life much more.

On a side note, I was raised as a christian. I still go to church on sundays and have to pretend that I care about christianity because I am a NEET who lives with his parents so I try to respect their feelings and faith since they are the ones who feed me and all that. But honestly, I had my doubts about the whole thing even back in kindergarten and was pretty much a nonbeliever except for short periods of faith in my late teens and early twenties. The whole pretentious 'love thy neighbor' and 'turn the other cheek' mentality always disgusted me because I don't consider others worthy of love and mercy (except those who directly contribute to my happiness, like my family). In fact, my problem isn't just with christianity. It is with any ideology and worldview that preaches love, peace, forgiveness, meekness and all that - they all come across to me as hypocrite ramblings.
I went to Holy Mass again today and it is just…boring. This word describes christianity very well in general and other religions and philosophies which are concerned with 'loving the neighbor' above all else. Anyway, listening to the same texts again and again - I read the whole Bible - can get very repetitive. And basically all of the Bible can be summed up as "God is awesome, worship Him!" The epic tales about conquers, massacres and obscure miracles are quite entertaining but they are mostly contained in the Old Testament and modern christianity likes to ignore them - which is a shame because they are the best part of the religion. And as I listened to the same basic things I heard over and over in my life already today I wondered how protestants can endure all of this (my family is roman catholic), given that catholicism/orthodoxy at least likes to mix things up a little with remembering different saints each day and having many Mary-related days in their calendar and other stuff they celebrate, I genuinely don't understand how protestants don't get tired of all the plain worshipping, Bible reading and all that.

OP and all other christians here, my advice for you is to stop caring about God and Heaven. Only boring old priests, sick and crippled people are in Heaven anyways. It wouldn't be any fun getting into Heaven, it would be like sitting in church all day, praising God and adoring Him constantly while not being allowed to do anything entertaining sounds like a horrible way to spend eternity. I'd rather go to Hell and talk with wise philosophers, heroes of the antique world or famous tyrants and discuss anime and such things with fellow wizards while burning away in a lake of fire.
If we are talking about religions then I have to say that I respect the pagans of the old days much more, they knew how to live life and enjoy it to the fullest. Christianity had some good periods too to be fair, like burning witches at stakes and killing heretics for fun sound like good hobbies, the knight-era was the best era christianity had. I feel like we need to bring back the primordial, ancient, barbaric, dionysian type of man, we need to revive that instinct-driven animal that lives within us if we want to rediscover how to enjoy life again.
