We've had a lot of discussions about Monks, and I certainly understand the appeal of being physically separated from the normie world in an isolated group-hermit community of fellow volcel men. But I'm not sure if I'm suited for the laboring aspects of it, picking potatoes. And so while I started out with monks as my ideal community, I started looking into the more academic side. It was actually right here on Wizchan, in one of the Monk threads, were a Wiz in Missouri mentioned there was a monastery very near him. And then I did some research on it and found out it was also a Seminary. And that seemed like the idea for me, combining Benedictine community with academic scholarship. And so I realized I was more interested in the scholastic aspect. So I started looking into other orders like Franciscans, Dominicans, Jesuits.

As a teen I used to have very creative fantasies about my future adult life. They were so detailed, that it would have been almost a disappointment if they came true, a deja vu, rerun. Now that I'm an adult, most of my fantasies are about redoing life right. Although even with a magic time machine, it seems like every turn is a wrong one. I get into a lot of detail with my schizoid couldabeen watif fantasies. Even looking up Archive.org pages from 2006 of colleges I could have went to.

Lately my main fantasy has been over being a scholastic professor of medieval metaphysics. My main interests are philosophy and history. And some of my watifs revolve around being a high school history teacher or college philosophy professor. Getting paid to talk about my favorite subject is awesome. But babysitting hormonal American teenagers is hell for even normies. And a larger problem of devoting my life to secular philosophy, is I study the ontology of Hegel or Heidegger just saying Being Being Being all day. And then at 70 I wonder what the point of it all was. As a Scholastic saying God God God all day, at least there is a point.

In my fantasy, in 9th grade just when I was getting into Calvin, Cromwell, Charlemagne, I instead get into St. Benedict as the ideal community. And read everything I can on Monks and the other Catholic orders. I remember reading HG Well's Outline of History, and being inspired by his description of Ignatius of the Jesuits. How he had been a soldier, but then seen the light, and devoted this military virtues to instead serving God as a volcel. So then I convert to Catholicism in college, go to this college near me that specializes in Continental Philosophy, get my BA and Phd. Become a Jesuit or Dominican. Devote myself to the abstractions of medieval ontology. With any ideology or worldview, with me it starts with the praxis of the ideal community, but I quickly float upward to the most abstract metaphysics. Its the same categories I study in modern secular philosophy but with medieval scholastic volcels. Essence-Existence, Form-Content, Abstract-Concrete, Potentiality-Actuality, Cause-Effect, Substance-Accident, Quantity-Quality, Universal-Particular, One-Many.

Just living among my volcel brotherhood of Dominicans, reading and writing, getting into the intricacies of medieval metaphysics. Henry of Ghent and Duns Scotus being my companions and arguments, instead of this modern world. I could be living in 1300 and it wouldn't make a difference, because I'm just pure mind. The words on paper have more reality than the world around me. Yes this was the life I was meant for. I want to be a volcel. I held volcel values a decade before I found Wizchan. But I don't know how to live within the world with my values or to find a community of values outside the normie mainstream. I was between a rock and a hard place. Can't live by my values, can't live by their values, can't live at all. If only I had become a medieval scholastic. Thats what I was meant to be. Aspects of the Catholic Church were a stumbling block to me. But what do I know about right and wrong? The only morality is celibacy, and the RCC is the sole volcel institution of the West. Thats the only ethics I needed. And from the volcel praxis to the Thomist ontology. Logic-chopping how many angels can dance on a pin. So removed from this darwinian universe. Just talking to God about metaphysics all day.

Just had a dream I was at a big medieval philosophy conference in a college auditorium. And then it was my turn to speak, and I wasn't ready. I'm usually pretty good at BSing on my feet, public speaking.

So I was hesitant at 1st. Then I read out the really long jargony title of the book I had with me, and said thats what I love about scholasticism, how dusty the old books are.

And I started getting into my stride and planning out my talk.

But then a succubus professor calls out and asks me what I think of Spartan philosophy and then segments into Professor Blank being an expert on greek philosophy and its his turn now.

And they rush me off the stage. I can't blame them, since the entire audiotorium needs a chance to talk.

As I'm being lead down the steps, I try to think up a few lines to sum up my thoughts on why I love scholasticism.

At numerous points in my life I had seriously considered turning to religion. But time and time again whenever I decided to read religious material, forums and everything, it would immediately remind me why I was an atheist in the first place.
Religious people with shit attitude, corruption within my denomination and it's primarily political utility, which undermines all respect I might have had for it (I'm an Orthodox Christian) aside, none of the religious books really strike a chord with me, some even manage to do the opposite, like the Old Testament.
I seriously fucking hate this. All I want is to find a teaching that would bring me peace of mind not through near-fanatical preaching and praying and/or extreme self-delusion, that'd also be relatively down to earth.

I think Protestantism is better for normie morality but has no place for volcels, but Catholicism does not improve the morality of Latin societies, but at least has a space for volcels.

I was raised in a Protestant church environment (my mother worked at the church and brought me there all the time).

Most the people there seemed like hypocrites, but I wouldn't expect otherwise anywhere else.

Maybe you'll appreciate the life of Carthusian monks, wiz. I tried to become one, but they would not accept because the rigid life style of Saint Bruno's rule is not well suited for someone with a history of some psychological problems.

That was a shame, I was really interested by them. Today? Well, all I can say is that I turned back to see porn once in a while. So, not something a good monk would be doing.

How can you believe some guy in Palestine a couple millennia ago was the Son of God? We have no basis to believe in any claims about alleged gods, so agnosticism is the only reasonable route, and atheists are still understandable since the burden of proof is not on them. Yet theists are willing to abandon themselves to a leap of faith that looks like nothing but deranged self-delusion from an outside perspective. Why would anyone be willing to debase human reason so much and forfeit any semblance of logic? Theists often say to me, "human reason has its limits and can't explain everything"; that may be so, but even granting that it does not follow that the Bible has all the answers (nor the Quran): it's a non-sequitur. nah, but I can guess what it's about. There are tons of numerological codes in The Bible.
There are prophesies encoded in the names of the Patriarchs of Christ.
Prophesies can also be not-so-secret plans.

The Book of Numbers tells of all these folks who live for X years and have such and such name and begat so and so. It's encoding more wisdom. Understand Hebrew or Greek meaning of the names and ages and year numbers as words, understand the numerology of the numbers and each word too, the whole bible will start opening up. Many folks get dazzled by some of the numerology, and forget that God is ALIVE. Really a living entity explainable by cybernetics (which explores the science of information flow in human, animal and artificial systems like business and government, not just muh PCs).

The thing about the Old Testament is that it is an old source of power assembled over a very long time by master-level autistic occultists and numerologists. None of the Three primary Abrahamic faiths actually claim to believe in the book, but say it's all symbolic. The truth is that the science contained in the book is the source of power that gave the Christians and Jews their legitimacy. They couldn't defeat God's real Wizards, so they just joined with us.

look at that, you answered your question in the pic you attached. everywhere you look christianity is under attack, if religions truly are equal and you can just choose to believe in any one as if it were shopping, why would one religion be under so much attack? my belief isnt based on an arguement i can give you and then you will believe it too, my belief came with time.

lets look at flat earth, page one of the bible. space is one thing that "they" like to push really hard. the theory of space tells you that you came from nothing, you do not have a reason, and you are alone. that is reason number 1 why i believe the earth is flat, space is a direct attack on christianity. another few reasons, the moon is "tidally locked" with earth, no, massive spinning balls dont exist, the moon isnt spinning. and the sun is a million times bigger than the moon but they look to be the same size. i dont know about you, but to me that sounds like complete fucking bullshit! the idea that there were 2 lights created to rule over night and day is much more believable than a one in ten vigintillion chance.

look in the media and there are blatant attacks on christianity everywhere. no single event led me to believe that the media hates christians but you have to be a fool not to see that. another thing is that i only see people shilling against christianity, why would such a large group of people hate this inconsequential guy that lived in palestine a couple millennia ago? the shills dont even have to do all the fighting now because they have brainwashed atheists into fighting for them.
