/wiz/ became just a soft /b/.

Shame, where's the galaxy brain topic? Where's the insightful discussion about the nature of being a wizard and the philosophical ramifications? Where's the phenomenological threads about inner experience of the wizards?

Just low quality borderline shitposty thread.

/lounge/ is supposed to be the soft /b/.

Nothing is stopping you from creating quality threads you know…

well tbh the board categories are ill defined

it would make sense if

wiz= topics related to being a wizard

lounge= high quality misc

b= low quality misc

but de facto we just have 3 miscs. sometimes posts do get moved from wiz to lounge. but wiz is more of a general than wiz-topics only.

because at a certain level of sophistication people will stop pretending and start having to make critical remarks about wizardry and the website, which the admins really dont like for some reason.

Like really, I run an imageboard and it isn't exactly a free speech zone, but I don't ban intelligent posts just because they aren't completely in line with our philosophy. That's how you create yet another retard den on the internet.

This is a clubhouse
Not debate club

Make rule 8 less vague, so wizards wouldn't be ashamed to post wizard pics

Posting same wizard hats can, currently, put wizards into rule 8 ban territory

I remember this site was very different around 10 years ago. (if memory serves)
Now threads disappear pretty fast mostly because of low engagement.
I guess the old people already talked about everything before so why bother, young don't care or are behind too many levels of irony.

Threads used to go on for years and years, now you look at /wiz/ and it's a ton of sub10post threads sliding into the void.
Maybe it's just poor memory again, but I think the catalog is smaller as well.
I do recall the site going down for an extended period and it never being the same. Maybe I just hallucinated that idk.
I kinda wish there was some kind of archive of the old stuff so I could browse it again.

Can't blame people for not engaging. I often see a thread that has some real substance to it and think I wish to write something, but it takes too much mental energy to read through it all and then contribute so I just leave it open and a couple months go by…

This. Would be great if not-so-/wiz/ topics would've been landed to /lounge/

I try to post well articulated responses but get no replies, but then some annoying faggot barges in and posts "im only 18 and life is over" at which point whatevever topic was beginning to be discussed ceases and the thread gets derailed.

There really needs to be a crackdown on that.

I was here then too. Most of us killed ourselves save for a few straddlers like me who lack the courage. If memory serves, wasn't there some drama with this site that ran off most of the old userbase too?

I heard there were people from Crystal Cafe trying to lurk for lolcows and then the ownership changed hands, I think there was some faggy discord about this site made at some point which drew in a bunch of undesirables which was probably the final nail in the coffin.
