Just saw this while scrolling 4chan. My parents were exactly like that. Just wondering how true this is for any neets on this board?

My father is the single most negative person on the planet. He will often tell me that what I am thinking about doing is too much trouble and I shouldn't bother. He will poke holes in all sorts of plans I have. My mother does the same because she worries about me and then to deal with that she tells me all the things she is worried about happening to me as if it is helpful and she is protecting me from those things by telling me about them. In reality she is just instilling me with anxiety and doubt. Then they tell me to be a normalfag and am surprised when I can't do it. For many years I actually thought they were being helpful too, until I realized not being around them is like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. My first reflex has always been to turn to them for advice because I lack confidence. I realized that was a massive mistake because the reason I lack confidence is because of them.
