I dropped out of college due to financial problems. Since graduating from high school, my life has felt empty, and I'm certain I'll continue living at home.

I'm sorry brother, high-school was pure dogshit for me and I was isolated during 90% of my there, I think they saw me as an autistic retard or something, at least in college I can just stare at my phone during lectures, I think I'll drop out in a few months though, not sure.

I take it "it's free in my country" model of high education is an incredibly debatable idea.

You need to take an entrance exam to enroll, the shittier your results the worse your education will be, I had fine results myself

I was on this site back when I was 14. I used to spend class reading through the archive until I read every thread that interested me. I don't understand the hate towards younger people here as long as they are not being fucking annoying.

Do you guys think I should go back to school? I am 26 years old and I don't have much going on in my life. I don't want to continue to be a drain on society and I would like to have children one day. Problem is that I dont talk to anyone and I haven't accomplished anything in the 7 years since I graduated High School. No job, no new friend groups and no connections. I have been on a decline for years. I don't even go outside for anything. I'm a shut in. Thanks.

 No.311107

>>311106
no if you're financially fine, shut ins stick out like a sore thumb in public in spaces like school, you won't be making any new connections unless you can find fellow shut ins

I don't have a job. I live with my mother I've thought that it might be a good idea.

If you're sure you wouldn't stick out then sure, maybe try finding a job first though

But if you befriend others who are equally isolated, it doesn't last; they eventually leave to hang out with other people—that’s just how campus life is. Not to mention financial issues and tuition costs—I went through that back in junior high and high school. Plus, if you’re just sitting around unemployed at home, your parents become incredibly annoying—which is exactly what I’m dealing with right now. Basically, there’s no way out, and I’m baffled as to why I’m being left in limbo like this.

If there is some subject that youre interested in that you want to study, then yes. I think you would enjoy going to school. You might even meet people who have similar interests.

 No.311115

I miss school, it's the only thing I've ever been good at.

 No.311116

It prepares you for a life of jumping through hoops and obeying authority, yeah it's for automatons, the stress it induces is deliberate to make you submit. I also hated it, the only thing that got me through the school prison is the thought of playing games

Now games fuckin suck too, not all of them but mostly

My "plan" around your age was to get a part-time job or something to reintroduce myself into society and "sort myself out". I had such a shit time in college when I was 18/19/20 (basically just walked around like a ghost, went to lessons and never spoke to anyone) that I decided not to jump back into education until I was a real boy who was happy with himself and ready to be a social busybody who might actually be accepted by people, otherwise it's gonna be another hellscape alienation ghostmode simulator.

I didn't do it in the end. I'm 29 now and have a part-time job but have no idea what I'd study and think I'll be too old soon. I've heard normalfags say going back to school really "upped their social game" (*pukes*) but then they're normalfags so of course it would.

In any case I would start low-level, maybe volunteer somewhere, find somewhere you're accepted and treated like an actual human by people, and you'll start feeling better, and can work from there and maybe pursue further education. It's not easy, I have no advice, I went on some course and they gave me a job, pure luck. But they treat me well and my hypothesis that social isolation completely ruined my life in my teens was validated. I have moments of belonging which make me want to pursue things because being treated well and held in mind by people lifts the depression blinders enough to consider doing things, at least temporarily, sometimes.

Unfortunately I think the damage is done for me because I was isolated so long, but I can see how getting a good social start in adolescence is a major key to living a "proper" life and achieving things. Without that base, whether that's friends, family, whatever, I think it's very hard for a person to motivate themselves to do anything, because there's no people so no context and no future. Maybe not if you're a sigma lonewolf schizoid elite sas operative battlewiz impervious to social needs like a sim with a defunct social bar, but that's probably not you, as much as we'd all like it to be.

I think I was fucked over by my narcism learned in school together with that I shouldnt try too hard and just study last day because it always worked. I uni I fucked myself over once I noticed I was good enough in first semester and then stopped trying hard because things will work out somehow. The narcism is like a brainbug together with my laziness and slop addiction made it impossible to spend my time well, plan ahead or giving a fuck. And when I noticed things arent going well I just became more miserable, constantly comparing myself to others and trying to nitpick how I am better to find a reason why I shouldnt work harder. And I cant force myself to work I cant convince my subconciousness that I should or else Ill just search for distractions.
Im 24yo still in uni now and hope I can somehow find a job and fix my grades.
