I can not stand it anymore. I'm done. I don't know what to do. It's over for me. My whole will be shit and then I'd die and finally I'd be at peace. When you think about your life, you must think the whole thing (your 40s, 50s, 60s, etc…). A thing that young people (29 and less) don't do. secretly, your parents still believe in you. You just want to be cool. Are we posers?
>>292824 What is the meaning of even wanting to be cool or being a poser at this point ? The end goal that we have submerged into ourselves have became unclear and we're just living and thinking that we're living, But the problem is we are not content with what we have so we strive for an illusionary Endgoal that it automatically becomes a Mean when we're done with it.
I don't know anon but I know deep down within you that you want to remove celibacy but you were unfortunate and that's why you want to find resonance, Unconsciously trying to stir up emotions of love and longing away from your core in order to portray a "I don't give a fuck about love" outter image but deep down within you want to.
But still you must understand that love is not essential in life, It's only a means, we must treat a person as an endgoal rather than treating them as a means for our endgoal, Why do you think your life is over ? Have you been mutiliated ? Are you dying of excruciating pain ? Are you living in India or some remote 3rd world country ? Are you living in 1979 Cambodia ? Are yo so poor that you cannot afford food ?
I don't think the problem is that you must see others as a means to justify your happiness but to see that others are accepting their lives and fighting through the pain of life that was presented through them, They are struggling and they're not wasting their life away unlike people who are completely blindedsighted on the gift that they posses.
the Modern world makes people think that they wasted their whole life but in realtiy it's just the beginning whether you're 40 or 30 or 20 because in every day there is a beginning until you die.
>>292828 You know you're the only one who can save your soul if you want to, I can't guarantee you that you can find a person but i guarantee you that people close to you like you.
>>292853 ha! i never insulted my parents. was scared of dad tbh. don't care about it now, maybe it was good actually. people who come down to insult tend to be not very intelligent
>>292871 I hope it is not. if it is then people with profound retardation can't be happy. I guess being in the norm (for IQ) is perfect to enjoy life and understand it
>>292868 If a selfpitying man comes across any of you trashing himself, you better take his word and deal with him according to it, before he gets to prove how much right he was about himself, by trashing you.
>>292897 the point of trashing people is to snap them back into reality. it's painful for them in the beginning but is better in long term than catering to the self pity.
>>292911 rather be saved by saya or turn the world into monstrosities to fit my scenario and be at peace. none of that will happen, saya doen't exist and I'll rot because we live in a world without scenarios for each one of us. we create our story, not fate
>>292929 The world has both determinism and free will. Take a million people with the genes for down syndrome or heavy alcohol abuse, and 99% of them will have the same life outcomes in 25 years.
But there is the 1% that can fight their circumstances and genetics and instead of dying in a car crash or living in an institution for the retarded, they escape their fate and do something worthwhile.
>>292934 are smart people more risk takers and low iq people less adventurous because their instinct tell to not be near danger. what do you think, is it true?
Whether determinism is true doesn't matter, because you have to live as if it isn't. Even if you think it's true you have to live as if you're directing your own actions. Perhaps that's just an illusion created by your brain, but if it is then so what? It doesn't change the way you have to live.
>>292934 >Take a million people with the genes for down syndrome or heavy alcohol abuse, and 99% of them will have the same life outcomes in 25 years. that's exactly what i'm saying, in limit you have predictable result, but how exactly this result is reached is far less deterministic. that means that your life outcome is likely already decided, at least for the most part, but how exactly you arrive there is likely up to you. this is why i maintain that you should arrive there happy, regardless of what you have to go through >>292935 it's hard to tell and largely depends on nurture. if you grew up safe you won't be much of a risk taker, even if you're smart. >>292938 i've been thinking exactly same thing. i find it healthy to add here what i've said above. this way if i fail i don't care because that was decided for me by God or Fate or whatever you call it. i only care about maintaining happy disposition regardless of shit
>>292941 why let fate decide for you? if you let so happen to you, fate will put you in whatever situations he will and you'll be draged like an donkey here and there and you will complain what this happen to me. BE the one who tells fate/destiny what YOU wants and not the other way
>>292942 are you being retarded for fun's sake or should i unironically treat it as a genuine reply? you only can defy fate in your opinion at the price of misery. "woe to me, this or that happens in my life so i'm miserable". instead be like "oh well that's a lot of shit to swallow, gotta get done with it asap". i'd like to see you command your fate when an artillery shell lands in your home btw
>>292947 Of all the things in the world, some depend on us, others do not. Those which depend on it are our opinions, our movements, our desires, our inclinations, our aversions; in a word, all our actions.
II. Those which do not depend on us are the body, the goods, the reputation, the dignities; in a word, all the things which are not among the number of our actions.
III. The things that depend on us are free by their nature, nothing can stop them or obstruct them; those who do not depend on it are weak, slaves, dependent, subject to a thousand obstacles and a thousand inconveniences, and entirely foreign.
IV. Remember therefore that, if you believe free those things which by their nature are slaves, and those which depend on others are proper to you, you will encounter obstacles at every step, you will be afflicted, troubled, and you will complain of the gods and men. Whereas if you believe that what is yours is yours, and that which belongs to others is foreign, no one will ever force you to do what you do not want, nor prevent you from doing what you want; you will not complain about anyone; you will not accuse anyone; you will do nothing, not even the smallest thing, in spite of yourself; no one will harm you, and you will have no enemies, because nothing harmful will happen to you. >>292947 this one is also good too. replace bad omen by fate
XXVI. When the crow makes a croak of bad omen, let not your imagination carry you away, but immediately make a distinction within yourself and say: “None of the misfortunes presaged by this omen concern me; these misfortunes concern either my puny body, or my little possessions, or my little reputation, or my children, or my wife. For me, there are only happy omens, if I want them; because whatever happens, it depends on me to get good out of it
>>293007 >If we entrusted your body to the first person who came along, you would be outraged; and you, when you entrust your soul to the first comer, so that he may disturb and upset it with his insults, are you not ashamed?
Epictetus The quote I showed you is one of my favorite among all quotes from all philosophers (for now haha). I like it because he's right. Like you wouldn't prostitue your body like a whore to any passerby; as your mind, you will not let it be troubled by strangers. I am someone who is easily hurt when I receive a comment or when something is supposed to hurt me, so this quote by epictetus helps me whenever something happens, I remember this quote and try to not be hurt. I like philosophy and want to be a philosopher but I'm just amateurish haha. I found a blog about him, been reading since. do you like philosophy?
>>293011 >I like philosophy and want to be a philosopher book 3 chapter XV That we ought to proceed with circumspection in everything ever paid attention to that? >I found a blog about him, been reading since. mind if i have a look? >do you like philosophy? haven't figured that out, because i don't know philosophy, not even what the word means. epictetus is useful though
>>293016 this quote? >XV. You have acquired many beautiful things, you have many vessels of gold and silver, you are rich. But you lack the best good: constancy, submission to the orders of the gods, tranquility, freedom from trouble and fear. As for me, poor as I am, I am richer than you. I don't care about having a patron at court, I don't care about what people will say about me to the prince, and I don't flatter anyone. This is what takes the place of all goods for me. You have vessels of gold and silver, but all your thoughts, all your desires, all your inclinations, all your actions are of earth
here it is: https://mediterranees.net/litterature/epictete/pensees.html sorry it's in french but you can translate using google trad or translate the whole blog. so you have les pensées (thinkings) and then book 1 to 4. for now I've only read the thinkings >I don't know philosophy you're wiser then me haha. like said plato: I know that I know nothing. which is wisdom. I bet on you may understand philosophy better then ma haha
>>293017 >this quote? actually, the first passage. beings with >In every act consider what precedes and what follows, and then proceed to the act. If you do not consider, you will at first begin with spirit, since you have not thought at all of the things which follow; but afterwards when some consequences have shown themselves, you will basely desist (from that which you have begun). this has struck be right in the balls when i first read it >sorry it's in french frenchwiz? you seem oddly familiar, just can't remember where i'd seen you before.
why'd you start reading philosophy? i just kind of stumbled upon a (really short) quote somewhere on imageboards and that was it. it's kinda skill of eloquence in action. not skill of platitudes, which seems to be overly common
>>293025 >frenchwiz? you seem oddly familiar, just can't remember where i'd seen you before. I was talking to a half french, half black on /lounge/ on the neet/hiki thread. I even shared my manga collection. maybe this is werr you heard about me
