I just recently got a "starter kit" with a humidor, lighter, cutter, 10 various cigars, and some humidity packs. I just need some lighter fluid and I can finally relax.
>>31900 I used to love trying out new brands of cigarettes back when I smoked. Nicotine helped me get through the days at work when I wanted to pass out.
>>31900 I like cigars, I even opened a similar thread like this a little less than a year ago, but it died.
So far I smoked around 10 Cuban cigars. It was usually enjoyable, except when cigars kept going out. I don't like it when the cigars are too big, as I get bored. Otherwise smoking a good cigar, drinking some good coffee/liquor and reading is a very enjoyable experience. There is nothing quite like the process of observing the cigar, holding it and touching it, smelling it, tasting it, cutting it and smoking it. I don't know much about it, but so far my favorite cigars are Cohiba Siglo II and Monte Cristo No.4.
Having a romeo y julieta is something to look forward to maybe twice a month at most. Also be sure to have a drink on hand and be somewhere without a lot of general airflow so you can pick up on the bokay of smell/flavor.
>>32966 Here's a list of my go to mass produced cigars. Aging Room Avo Arturo Fuente Asylum Brick House Dunhill (not the best but whatever) Dutch Masters Excalibur Montecristo Man O War (strong as fuck watch out) Nat Sherman Oliva Punch (kinda shit but are ok) Rocky Patel
>>32929 Camels in Turkey don't contain any turkish tobacco, it's too good so all of it ends up being exported, and turks usually end up smoking american tobacco. Just a funny trivia for you.
>>32967 Cigars have barely any nicotine. There's no difference really in enjoying a cigar and enjoying a fine meal. Anyway, the only permanent solution to problems is suicide as anyone with sense well knows. >>32968 If you don't live in America you might as well go with Cubans since they're legal to buy locally.
It's been a very long time since I last smoked a cigar. I think I'll buy one tomorrow. What do you guys prefer to drink with it? So far I tried quality rum, coffee, and plain water. I liked coffee best, even though I might disgust some purists who (correctly) think that it messes up taste buds, disabling the full aroma of cigar.
Parents bought me one of these last week, despite my objections. It stunk like a whole bottle of betadine and the shag cut makes pulling some off to roll more obnoxious than untangling a bunch of wires. It also came with an overly optimistic 50 papers.
But the smoke itself was pretty full bodied, smooth and satisfying. It had an above-average nictotine content that almost made me sick from smoking three in a row. Good stuff.
Maybe I'd buy more if it didn't cost 12 friggin dollars.
Ettan original portions were so good, I probably went through as many cans of that as I did General. I quit snus and other CNS stimulants after I started getting anxiety attacks but Ettan, Grov, and General original portions were so good. I also liked Jakobsson Flader. Are you Scandinavian or do you have to order international like me (burger)?
So far, I've spent A LOT of time autistically obsessing about getting the humidity levels right and the hygrometer calibrated. After a week or so of fucking with that, I finally went to smoke one, and I totally fucked it up. After watching a ton of videos on how to light a cigar where they make it look so easy, I could barely get the thing lit myself, and I'm pretty sure I charred the shit out of it. Part of the problem was probably that I was using dinky-ass matches that burned out in a couple seconds (I must have gone through about 20 of them), so I was being impatient. I finally got a decent, fairly even burn going for a while, and it was pretty enjoyable, but then the cigar just randomly went out even though I was taking puffs pretty consistently. I tried to trim it down and relight it, but once again, I had a bitch of a time. I just kept fucking it up more until finally it tasted like garbage and was clearly burning too hot.
It wasn't a particularly expensive cigar, but it was still a bummer. Oh well. I'm going to try again with a butane lighter. I'm hoping that having a consistent flame will allow me to be a bit more patient and careful, and hopefully the lighter will be hotter and I'll have an easier time igniting the cigar.
I only smoke Luckies. Found them through Roadside Picnic. I don't think it's a hobby though, more like an addiction that I don't want to stop. Been there, and I couldn't recognise myself in that manic state so I started again. Guess I prefer to stay depressed.
For my humidor, I just throw in a couple of Boveda 72% packs in and let it seasoned the cigars and humidor. I don't mess around with the other junk, plus it's hell of a lot easier as you just put it inside and that's it.
I use a butane lighter for my cigars, even though the "proper" way is to use matches but I didn't really want to fuck around with it. I didn't really know what to do at first either but after trying a couple of cigars I managed to get it still burning. Lightly toasted it for a while and then take short bursts like you're sucking on a straw with the lighter still going and it should catch fire. Blow out the flame and enjoy it.
had a phase where I tried a lot of different flavors but I got sick of buying blind and get shitty ones. I mostly stay with tobacco flavors now althogh I do enjoy some strawberry sometimes.
>>32913 Man I wish I was you right now. I fucking love smoking, (tobacco or weed) and I'm broke in a country that just recently upped the taxes on tobacco to the point where you can pay as much as $50 AUD for a pack of shitty cigarettes. My go to brand went from $20 for a pack of 20 to $30 in the space of less than a year.
>>39571 Jeez and I thought 13.50 was excessive. You got cook county beat, congratz. An aussie dollar is 1.28 to a US burger buck so you definitely win, your cancer costs more.
>>39719 >>39679 >>39677 >>39572 >>39571 I know this feel. I live in New Zealand and it's just as bad. My parents went on holiday to the Cook Islands and brought back 5x50g packs of Port Royal for $40 It was so beautiful, I have never seen this much tobacco for such and incredible price. A 50g packet of Port Royal in New Zealand is $90
Is dipping snuff when you dont get a buzz and dont like a buzz stupid? I just like the taste of copenhagen snuff
i mainly chew red man and levi garrett inlive the taste. i used to hate the buzz from copenhagen but now i can dip a can in an afternoon and feel nothing.
>>39962 And I thought my tobacco taxes were high. 170g of mid-shelf stuff is $13.99 here. I bet their lame excuse is the maori smoke too much, and it's the white man's burden to save them from themselves. Isn't it.
i don't use anymore , i quit for my waifu, but i used to use any tobacco i could get my hands on. it was life's greatest joy. the biggest sacrifice i've made for my waifu.
i'd smoke, i'd dip, i'd use pouches, i'd snort it, i'd inhale unlit tobacco fumes, my brother got a vape pen and i used that for a while because the coffee flavors have real caffeine in them and instantly wake you up.
when i first started smoking i smoked the absolute worst shit and i worked my way up through youtube recommendations.
at the end of my tobacco career, the only thing i enjoyed anymore is unfiltered lucky strikes. i think it's possible that this was because i had killed all of my tastebuds and the powerful flavor of lucky strike is the only thing that came through anymore.
by the way, if you smoke unfiltered often, expect a trip to the hospital. i miss it real bad. i'm hiding this thread so i don't think about them anymore.
>>40278 >the powerful flavor of lucky strike I found them indistinguishable from marlboros or camels with the filter ripped off. >if you smoke unfiltered often, expect a trip to the hospital. been smoking unfiltered since 2007, I have yet to develop a problem, but I'm just strong
i am neet and so cant really afford smoking anymore, initially i started vaping because i found it cheaper. i get strong tobacco flavoring high high nicotine and just dillute it with cheap vegetable glycerine. it is probably a tenth of what it costs if you buy the liquid. it is pretty disappointing exhaling vapor instead of smoke, and the flavor is completely off, but it is very convenient to chain 'smoke' vapor and so getting my nicotine this way works alright. there is also the issue since i lived with parents that smoking isnt allowed, but they havent found out about this. i miss cigarettes.
>>40278 with dip did you get a buzz? i used to get a hell of a buzz and hated it because i felt sick but after chewing levi garret a lot i can dip a can of copenhagen in a few hours and never feel a buzz
is it stupid to just dip for the flavor of tobacco? i like snuff and long cut dont care for the flavored stuff
>>35849 General Whites. GR and Ettan are also favorites. I'm in Canada so we pay $20 a can, or get fucked if we order online so I just buy giant bags of nasal snuff now. Toque Rustica, pretty sure this stuff could kill a non user.
my brother got nicotine gum as he quit recently and physically threw at me a pack of the gum. i don't smoke anymore because i can't afford it, so i can use a vape with as much nicotine as possible ever now and then. but this gum, at first it tastes nice and fruity, then it's like my whole mouth feels prickly and sore, very unpleasant but it makes me feel great for a while. i have read of people quitting smoking and instead becoming addicted to nicotine gum, i can sort of understand it now, i always liked chewing gum. i wonder how much this stuff costs though
>>39571 Buy them off a website called ciggiesworld.ch. You can also get pipe tobacco which you should grind up before rolling in to a cigarette and "kretek"s off of ebay. It takes a lot of trial and error to find which ones are for you but you save thousands
so how long until pipe tobacco is outlawed/almost gone? already plenty of good blends out of production because of FDA recently i heard. i wanted to get into it but not sure if its worth it now.
>>39965 Yeah, it's true. There was a smokefree initiative started by the government to stop New Zealand smoking by 2020. It was a huge flop. The only reason they started it was because Maoris were smoking themselves into the streets and ripping up their families just for a pack of Easies
>USPS® Expected Delivery by Monday, April 1, 2019 arriving by 8:00pm no nicotine for the past few days… i feel tired as fuck and can't focus on anything
>>48002 The last post in the last thread on /hob/ is from July of 2018. There was no need to bump this one without anything to cobtribute. It is not in danger of dying anytime soon. But since we're here now; my favourite brand of cigarettes are filtered Gitanes as they have a unique and wholesome flavour. Filtered Gauloises Brune and Camel non-filtered are acceptable substitutes in my opinion though all three taste very differently fron each other. The sweetness of the Camels makes me tire of them the quickest. I have also recently picked up a pipe, and, with my crass inexperience in mind, of the three tobacco blends I ordered with it the Danske Club Ocean Blue is by far my favourite so far. It's composed of black cavendish with lighter virginia and bears a gorgeous flavouring of aniseed and liquorice. I wish it burned as well as the thin-stripe cut tobacco I also got though.
>>46534 as far as I can tell the industry is still there. I own 4 pipes and haven't even come close to running out of new tobacco to try. as far as the companies that shut down, McClelland shut down due to not being able to source the quality of tobacco they needed. I'm not quite sure what happened with Dunhill, the company seems to have just dropped the pipe tobacco and cigar market to focus more on being a luxury brand. Those are really the only two companies to have exited the market lately. I'd say its still a good hobby to get into and it doesn't seem like it will go away in the foreseeable future, you can always pick yourself up a cob pipe and some drugstore tobacco for cheap if you just want to try it out.
Anyone here into snus? I’ve tried General classic and mint before, didn’t care for them. I’ve been using nicotine pouches for a for a year or so. I’m in Sweden now, so I have more options available to me. Which snus do you suggest I try?
mini rave about red cap I don't know what the deal is with this stuff but the nicotine content is extremely high, I've been using it since 2010 and it has always been high. In spite of smoking a lot of other stuff each day, the red cap I roll every morning gets me buzzed so goddamn hard I'm literally sweating and feel drunk and numb all over for a few minutes, like I'm having my first cigarette in months.
I've been craving to smoke lately for no apparent reason. I'm obsessing about >>46219 for the past few days to the point I've been watching people on youtube smoke it. No idea why, I've never smokes a single solitary cigarrete my entire life.
>>51672 That's the thing I really haven't seen anything. In fact I think all I ever read about tabacco is how awful and how you should quit. I don't know.
I don't know how I developed it but I have been smoking cigar occasionally ever since I was 19. I'm well into my 30s now. Again still not sure where I got the idea.
Nowadays I only buy cigars from airport duty frees when I'm returning back to old country. I'm currenlty living in California and man I hate the smoking laws. Can't smoke anywhere, can't even smoke in my rental due to the fucking non smoke clauses which are in almost every agreement. Unless you buy a house in california you are more or less stuck.
Still, I'm happiest when I'm back in my mothers shitty home in my old country, with the coffe cigar and chocolate I bought for myself and the tea I bought for mom. Nothing beats the feeling of taking a shower, playing vidya on your old childhood room with cigar and coffee. It is some kind of a ritual.
