I don't know if it can be considered tilt-shift or not, but I've just been holding regular lenses in front of the camera and twisting them around to produce some nice focus and glare effects.

I am not in any way been doing photography or anything for a long time, but i just want to have discussion with my fellow wizards right now, so i'll give you my opinion.

If you have less budget and willing to take it a little bit further by learning about how the camera works, then film cameras would be appropriate, 35mm SLR cameras are dirt cheap and some of them are in good condition. The problem, then, would be getting your films printed, it takes too much time and you have to go outside of your home(considering that you're in no will to develop the film by yourself). It's very limiting but a good alternative if you don't have much in the bank right now. This is what a fellow wiz told me in the last photography thread. I just found out that it's too pricey to go using film since i'm working as a wageslave so, i went out to find digital cameras instead.

As for cheap starter DSLR, you could go for Canon or Nikon, they're just imo the default companies that you should look for as a starter. I had Nikon D3200 in the past and i say that i preferred it than Canon because the ergonomics fits me quite well. The DSLRs from these companies are quite affordable if your budget is below <500 Euros. And if you still have some more money left, invest it on lenses!

If you have more money you might want to try mirrorless camera, the gimmick of these kind of cameras is that you could see what's your picture going to look like before even taking the picture. If you're thinking about getting mirrorless camera then your money should be spent on Sony A7 or A6000 series. Sony is ahead of the other competitors when it comes to developing their sensors but some people say that the interfaces for the cameras aren't great and kinda awkward. Prices are around >500 Euros. There are also other competitors such as Panasonic, Fujifilm, or Olympus, but i only done my research for Panasonic and Olympus since Fujifilm cameras are too expensive for me.

If you're looking for cameras that have a lot of options for lenses then you should look for MFT(Micro Four Thirds) cameras.

Contributing to the thread with pic related. Bought a second-hand E-M10 for 250 euros and now i have to save up again for a month or two for my first lens. What lenses are you using, Wizzies?

Canons are good to start with. New, they're typically a bit more expensive than other Japanese equivalents, but if you have a used one then you should enjoy cheap lens prices. What model is it exactly? You should read >>33494 , it is a very informative post.

>>35466
>If you have more money you might want to try mirrorless camera, the gimmick of these kind of cameras is that you could see what's your picture going to look like before even taking the picture

That's what live view on modern DSLRs do. I have the D3200 and I and can say that live view gives an accurate representation of what the final image will look like. I think if you prefer the mirrorless experience, a DSLR is still a good option because at least you have the viewfinder to fall back on. Battery life is also cut very short by the sensor always being powered, so if you do go mirrorless or prefer live view, I'd recommend getting an extra battery and maybe a cheap battery grip.

>What lenses are you using, Wizzies?

Sigma DC 18-200 (non AF)
Yongnuo 50mm F1.8
Vivitar 28mm F2.8
I also have some old Sigma auto 55-300 for Canon but I don't think the mount can be adapted to Nikon F.

The more I read about Nikon F the more I feel I should have started with Canon. I notice new lenses for Canon tend to be cheaper and despite being an older mount, vintage Nikon F lenses aren't that easy to come by like a lot of people claim. I like super fast apertures and Nikon's mount is too small to allow proper < 1.4 or so. I'm going to get a new body for sure this year so maybe I'll make the switch. I do a lot of macro photography using reverse rings though so I actually enjoy physically changing the aperture on the fly instead of having to lock it in before reversing the lens.

How do you find motivation when you're depressed? wizards?

 No.35568

>>35561
I start with coffee and nutritional supplements, at least it gets you up for 6 hours before the dread and everything else set back in again. Take care of your hygiene(at least brush your teeth daily). But what will give you the most is reading books, it gives you a solid ground to stand on in case if you are having an episode by giving you something to think, or then you will be able to do mental gymnastics to get back on your feet again.

Look into photographs that captures the human condition could also give you insight on the many sides about the world we're living in that most people ignore.

I'm conflicted right now in investing my money on a second hand 35mm or 50mm, i'm obviously not going to do street photograpy, since i only could save up so little i could only buy something after months of saving up money.

I'm trying to buy cheap vintage lenses and adapting it to my current camera.

Some sheep, chickens, horses, a few dogs here and there, but cows seemed to be the overall favorite with locals. When our path took us to the "heart of jesus" statue/look out tower, we met a few making their way down the mountain by the side of the road. Sadly the camera battery didn't last the way up, which was a shame considering the view.

Ah, and some storches prowling around the fields being harvested looking for a bite, and a few duck near lakes.

 No.39578

>>39577
Little red dots could be dead pixels on the sensor. Cleaning can be done easily with a microfiber cloth and small stick. Don't use a Qtip or tissue paper because the fibres will fall off and be worse than dust. You can also use compressed air, but keep it a fair distance away or else frost will build up on the camera which could give you electrical problems.

I just picked up a nice mid-range action camera. I plan to record loopable short clips of traffic and similar motions and spread them around on the net. I have an OK DSLR and lenses but carrying the thing around all night with a hefty tripod and often returning with no shots got tiring. This new pocket-sized camera has great lowlight picture.

Friendly dog-owner. Told me about old buildings.

An image from summer, reminding us that after the cold winter, we will enjoy tropical warmth.

Would post photos of my old mother. Why? Because even when cracking jokes and having her laugh, then snapping a photo quickly, the photos reveal her deep sadness over me, the camera shows the things i normally don't see. I hope I can make money through stockmarket, I don't want to be viewed as the special retard child. She looks at me like I have no chance of survival once she is gone.

Forgot the ultimate wizard-fact.
When I took the bottom-photo of the fancy apertment, it was New Years. I was far away from the apertment, but I heard and saw people laughing, screaming, partying, enjoying life, feeling the warmth, while I was sitting alone, on icy bridge. Existintial horrible thoughts were present. I also wondered what my former classmates where doing. Probably living it up.

Perfect metaphor haha

As for these pictures i post now:

Middle picture is from my city, I live only 50km away. I hadn't been there for 3-5 years, spent years in my apertment barely going out except for groceries, was so shocked over the fact that 70%+ was immigrants in childhood city. It was a nightmare seeing droves of noggers & mudslimes everywhere. The muslims shoot rockets at each other while faggot police gave them a stern warning, then they went back to shooting rockets.

A muslim dad walked up to me and said hello, all friendly like. Then he threw a large explosive piece next to me, tripod feet was almost on fire that night. Well, hopefully the normies who voted for it, will suffer greatly.

Nice photos btw, I like the compositions in >>42721 especially so. The first is quite stunning, lovely positive/negative space and interesting texture. The other two are really well balanced and executed/edited with skill. If anything I'd say that the lights in the middle picture detract from the scene, but they are a nice use of p/n space against grey which is unusual, and very well balanced on the intersect. It's a shame the environment didn't offer up anything more dazzling because the composition really is pleasing.

The issues I have with it are all due to my own neglicence. As an entry-level DSLR it is fantastic. The interface and controls aren't convoluted at all even when in full manual mode (Much more straightforward than Canon's EOS in my opinion). The build quality is awesome. I've dropped it from trees with telephoto lenses attatched and it held up. The only thing that did it in for me was getting it drenched. The good thing about Nikon is that they've been using the same lens mount for decades, so used manual and automatic lenses are easy to find. I believe I got a box containing a Sigma telephoto, 28mm, and 18mm for $30 that all worked fine. Image sharpness is a fault of Nikon's included lenses and ISO capability. The lens line Nikon includes with the kits are reputably soft, and that coupled with the fact that Nikon's sensors get real noisy in high ISO settings (meaning a longer exposure and open aperture is needed) results in many handheld shots losing detail.

The downside to the Nikon F lens mount and ISO noise is that low-light performance is poor. Nikon F can't recede F1.8~ or so, whereas Sony and Canon can go sub F1.0. Plus these manufactures, especially Sony, have sensors which fair much betterin low light.

Question, do you guys know of a reasonably good compact camera with manual controls?
Something I can fix the focus or adjust the focus with physical controls rather then scrolling through menus or only having auto focus.
I want something that I can both use to shoot cool stuff when I am out on my bike(why I want compact), and also use it to shoot stop motion stuff when I am home (why I want manual controls) but don't want to get two cameras or lug around expensive and bulky lenses.
I only need the image quality to be good enough, not cutting edge. My photography skills are not to the level where I am shooting art photos anyway.

It seems to be right up your alley, especially as it has its own stop motion tools. Do consider if you really need everything in that kit though. Occasionally those retailer kit items can be bought for cheaper if you order them individually. Also consider upcoming Black Friday/Cyber Monday savings. Overall not a bad package, would definitely suggest grabbing an extra battery though as not only is it mirrorless but it also has a digital viewfinder which means more battery chewage.

You can softmod an xbox with certain game discs and a memory card. The softmod route is the fast and easy way of xbox modding if all you want is the homebrew and ripped xbox games. https://www.xbox-hq.com/html/forumsdownload-id-4223.html&sid=a4355aff6b18fde0f832c85925d1e450

What is a good non-boring way to learn the basics of photo editing and photography in general.
It feels like ever since I switched to mostly using a cellphone although I take more pictures (because I don't have to send shit off to get developed or pay out the ass for scans) but it feels like I am just getting worse and worse artistically ever since I made the switch. I figure getting back to basics, and getting a actual digital camera rather then just using my phone, could help reverse this downward spiral of quality.

I don't want to have to go through such books again just to be able to get back to the level I was only with digital rather then 35mm.
