>still watching WWE
Why would you do this to yourself. The product is fucking godawful and unwatchable, good matches here and there do not make up for the abysmal writing and booking. Just watch NJPW or ROH or something.

 No.43621

Not even the Rock could lift the dead weight of his cousin Roman.

last NXT PPV was one of the greatest of all time. Meltzer gave a five star rating to 2 matches and NXT is still WWE.

 No.43623

>>43616
WrestleMania 33 was ruined without Roman's help: Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar, Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton, Undertaker breaking kayfabe with his wife. TV ratings in autumn 2017-spring 2018 were not as bad as many considered them to be. The first Backlash after brand split (SmackDown Live exclusive at that time): 7,000 people in attendance. That's abysmal.

What really strikes me is how many kids in attendance still have Cena and Orton merch on. As well as loud pops for them. Both are veterans. And rather than chanting "boring" audience chant "Rusev Day" when he's not even in the match.

 No.43624

According to Plebbit, NJPW's booking is way worse than last year. ROH is just leeching off Bullet Club. Impact seems to be on the rise tho.

 No.43625

>>43623
That Undertaker thing pissed me off so goddamn much. The one man who has never broken his character on screen did it, and for fucking what? For a fake retirement that was only meant to put DA BIG DAWG over (and of course failed).

>>43624
NJPW's booking might not be the greatest nowadays but it's still way above and beyond of what WWE shits out, and the matches are generally just as good if not better. Impact will probably never get anywhere near the popularity it used to have at it's peak, it's a dead and tainted brand and it would take many, many years for them to really rebuild if it's even doable.

 No.43626

>>43624
>NJPW's booking is way worse than last year
well, yeah. 2017 njpw was one of their best years, and a lot of people started watching then so they think 2017 quality is going to be every year.

 No.43628

Smarks should have just shut up and let Roman win in 2015 instead of shit chanting, then this experiment wouldn't have gone on for so long.

Any of you wizzies ever been to a wrestling event WWE or other wise? When I was living in Shreveport I saw a few WCW and WWF house shoes and when my family moved to Houston I saw WrestleMania 17, 25 the smackdown after 9/11 and a few more shows. The show is so fucking bad now.

>Most of it looks like HTML code but if you look closely, you’ll see that one of the lines read, “an angry Rusev orders Lana to get out.”
>the line comes from a YouTube video description from 2015 that reads: “An angry Rusev orders Lana to get out of the locker room area following his loss to U.S. Champion.”

"Payback 2015 results" (where Rusev had I Quit match) was seen too.

 No.45496

RAW 25 got all attention, SmackDownLive 1000th episode so far got it far less. 205 Live will have 100th episode very soon but no one cares. I noticed that when RAW superstars went to charity meeting they presented kids with Universal Title. Fair. Then when Daniel Bryan, R-Truth and Charlotte went there they presented Universal Championship as well. Even though they are not from RAW. Previously they presented either both or WWE Championship only. Hell in a Cell color, WWE Championship being the most prestigious in WWE mentioned by AJ Styles and Paige as if they noticed that everyone had noticed it not being in PPV main events.

WWE Universal Championship named after WWE Universe. World title is called Universal. I don't like the name.

I have just watched NEW Extreme I'VE from New European Championship Wrestling on FightBox H TV channel. Russian commentators are the worst.

Exposing the business: "of course it's theatricalized but injuries occur as well and _insert wrestler's name_ decided to walk away", "look the part of the ring is caving in like it's a springboard".

Fail at naming: "warrior" was translated as "barbarian" and then the commentator himself said that it was inaccurate, "Hellvetic Warrior. In a friendly way let's call him simply Hellvetic". English shortened him as Warrior but it's not about that. "In a friendly way" is not for such genre.

Ring announcer and wrestlers on the mic were silenced. That's what happens when you hire outsiders to announce pro wrestling.

205 Live is about to merge with NXT per Triple H. I liked the show. More likely I'll watch Cruiserweight Classics and old Monday Night Raw in its place. I'm still in 1993.

Worlds Collide will happen during Royal Rumble week. I watched previous ones because of the main roster and 205 roster involved. If no main roster involved I can not watch it or I can watch it because of tradition of watching the previous ones. TakeOvers but not UK TakeOvers and weekly NXTs are still to be watched. I'll watch NXT's third episode on USA Network and AEW first episode just for the historic moment. Not sure about first and second episodes of NXT.

NWA weekly series debut is on the way too but I'll pass.

I stopped watching WWE months and months ago when I realized how damn bored I was trying to sit through a whole episode of any of their programming (and and this was before Corona, it's even worse now), and gave up on AEW when they made Nyla the "succubi's" champ. Indy scene is full of virtue signalling bullshit, millenial snark and gymnastic guys who look like the people I buy coffee from down the street as opposed to intimidating fighters, I just can't get into it. I was content for a while to just listen to recordings of WOL and WOR (when it's not Jim Valley) and getting recaps from WrestleTalk, but in the last little while I don't even care enough for that. At this point the closest thing I do to consume wrestling is occasionally shitpost on a wrestling imageboard.

However, I still respect the industry as a whole for what it is and the kind of skill it takes to actually do it well. It deserves more respect than people give it in that regard, they just think "hurr durr fake fights anyone can do that" which is false and ignorant.

 No.54694

I watched each episode of SmackDown when it was taped and had the same roster as RAW. The opening theme was often the only saving grace. With such experience watching modern WWE is a piece of cake.

This Monday was so bad in general that I think taking list of tropes from TVtropes and just pick something using random number generator would create a far better product. Or using one thing from South Park.

205 Live is 20 minutes only now and is basiccally NXT's appendage. At least they show recaps since I don't watch weekly NXT. The PPVs became shorter which is good. I'll still watch regardless but Vince not pushing new talent enfuriates me more and more.

 No.55366

I've been watching WWE, AEW, and started watching Impact. WWE's angles are too predictable and they screwed over a lot of people so Roman could be champ and dominate the scene and with AEW I just don't really like Jon Moxley or any of the people presented as faces and the Dark Order just seems corny as hell.

I'm also watching the ROH Pure Tournament since even though it's just what's left over after WWE raided it to put people on NXT, it's been good so far.

I'm such a mark that I now also watch NJPW. Ugh.

Wrestling in 2020 is pretty bad. WWE is dead, AEW seemed promising, but it's corny and goofy as fuck, Impact is a relic from the 2000's, and Japanese feds are either really boring or super cringy.

I've been watching wrestling ever since I was a kid, and these modern shows have made me realize that I'm not really that interested in it anymore. Everything has been done, there's no new stars no engaging characters or entertaining stories, it's just tired and old now. I tried to like Indy wrestling, but they're so cheesy and unprofessional looking that it kind of took me out of it: seeing skinny fat dorks doing cosplay and flips isn't wrestling, that's cringe.

kayfabe is also a big reason I can't stand modern wrestling, seeing someone like for example, Braun, crying about being bullied or shilling for make a wish, when he's supposed to be a monster, just ruins him in my eyes.

Su: WrestleMania Night 2 Kickoff (1h), WrestleMania Night 2 (3h 18m)
Mn: RAW (2h 4m), RAW Talk (31m)

By my calculations that's 26h 40m or 3h 20m per day. I didn't watch NXT UK, won't watch weekly NXT on Tuesday or other promotions.

I listened to one 1-hour podcast by Meltzer and Alvarez though I skipped AEW discussion so it was about 40 minutes instead. Cornette released a 3-hour Experience podcast a few days ago so I'll listen that, maybe Drive-Thru podcast will arrive in the meantime. Something to listen to while checcin about 5100 screenshots. WWE SuperCard unveiled new highest tier specifically for the event (WrestleMania '37). Everybody got one card for free.

WWE is scared of another Rock or Austin so much they bury their own stars for people like Roman. Vince has never really forgiven Rock for moving to Hollywood and leaving him high and dry.
