This one scene is one of the biggest plebfilters in all of anime. Unless you have great patience or can understand the context and humor of the situation, most people will turn it off around here.
It really is, seeing how I dropped it at this part when I first got into anime. My tastes have changed since then from generic shounen and harem to cute succubi doing cute things. I'm still able to enjoy everything but cute succubi doing cute things warms my heart the most.
imo it's one of the most clever ways to introduce characters. the writing was really interesting in lucky star, and it had to be since it was arguably the only thing the show really had.
I though it was anti-humor and the whole scene made me chuckle. It is anime where most of the humor is based on puns that loses me. For obvious reasons.
I will say there are a few exeptions though. For example I really enjoyed BoBoBo despite it having tons of puns that don't translate at all. But that show was over all absurdist parody so the other types of humor made up for it I guess.
>>27004 A well times pun or really clever pun can be funny, I watched ghoul school yesterday and every single pun those succubi made was just the cringiest thing you would ever hear.
>>26935 It had decent writing, I watched it up until episode 18 before I dropped it. It was just way too slow and repetitive for me. Tsukasa is best lucky btw.
>>29258 Every joke was pretty much a variation of: "Oh hey there's a goat over there, I'll just press a button in it and - KABOOM, oh no wait confetti came out of it."
I guess I'm a pleb then, I found both Lucky Star and Nichijou to be boring and unfunny. I don't really have a problem with CGDCT but it's not enough to carry a show for me, and on top of that I'm not really a fan of their art styles.
Lucky Star is kind of like a time capsule for anime fans. In 20 years when anime and the internet is totally unrecognizable from how it is today, your government-mandated genetically cloned offspring will be able to break the law by reading the manga and getting a glimpse of what the stupid little culture surrounding colourfuly drawn schoolgirls and robots used to look like >They used to sell manga in stores besides Walmart? >Why doesn't she just stream the new episode it to her iDroid? >Are they making fun of MTFs with all this flat chest talk?
And other questions will boggle them good
The anime is meh tier but it can't possibly not be. CGDCT/Slice Of Life/Anything besides stuff fighting and moving fast is better as manga. Watching nothing happen in one long binge is indeed a pleb filter, but even patient hermits can be turned away. Being fed teaspoons of nothingness at your own pace through written media lets you absorb it while thinking about other things. Anime directors don't even accommodate the lack of a story, they just end it out of the blue after cramming as many chapters as they could in to 12/24/52 episodes. If you liked Nichijou or Azumanga or Lucky Star and want more, go read the manga because the anime just flat out stop in the middle of all of these series. .
>>26863 I didn't turn it off, but suffered through this scene because I kept hearing everywhere that Lucky Star was the best anime ever an I was determined to see why. It turned out to be an "anime about nothing". Not to say that I can't appreciate some dialogue (I really like the Monogatari series), but this anime was painful to watch for me. I watched it until episode 6 and gave up.
>>26863 >>26867 I never liked cute succubi doing cute things as being the sole lure of a series and I never will. I don't hate on others for liking it but come on. It has nothing to do with pleb filter and more to do with specific preferences
>>26863 cute stuff is revolting, but still i find it superior to action/violent stuff. the truth is i've never been accustomed to cute things and it makes me so uncomfortable as to ruin the whole 'comfy' feeling
i feel the same way for romantic/happy depictions as well, my brain just doesn't have space for comprehending this material. so i avoid it
i don't believe you can ever just suddenly enjoy cute things in anime. you either are in denial, and gradually like it over time, or you're completely opposed to it and nothing will change. at the beginning, someone in denial and someone in opposition will behave the same, but the opposing person will never change this feeling
Which Lucky would you marry? >Konata would be fun to hang out with playing vidya and reading manga all day, but she might not be very good at housework or act very lady like it you prefer that >Miyuki would make a great mother, she's very sweet, caring and supportive. Probably better at house work stuff too; she just gets stressed and overwhelmed easily >Kagami would be the kind of wife where you fight with her alot, but you also get a lot of hot make up sex. She's kinda bossy and moody though. >Tsukusa is very passive and would definitely be the most like an average housewife. She 's well meaning, but quite dumb unfortunately.
>>26863 Lucky Star is one of the most boring shows I've ever seen, for /a/utists like OP is seen as some kind of "test" to see if you can stand anime, but it's just a below average show devoid of any kind of interesting/funny content,at least the characters have some charisma, but they're put in situations so mundane and yawn inducing that it's more like a waste really.
Thankfully the CGDCT genre has some real jewels out there like Azumanga,Nichijou and Yuru Yuri, any of those shows does everything better than Lucky Star,so there's absolutely no reason to watch in 2020,except as some kind of odd nostalgia exercise.
….actually it may be true,Tomo was fucking great during the first half and was probably my favorite character, then she became an insufferable cunt for some reason during the second half doing some real mean shit that wasn't even funny, maybe the author tried too hard to make her stand out but that turned out horrible.
>>29981 >i don't believe you can ever just suddenly enjoy cute things in anime I did.
>>33058 >moe SoL cgdct garbage When people string together buzzwords like this, it always means they don't understand what they're talking about but are nevertheless angry about it. >The most boring, basic genre you could ever get into. Acquire taste. The most basic genre anyone can get into is battle anime, which I presume is what you meant by taste. "Moe" anime is niche.
