I haven't watched the Pokemon anime in a really long time, did they ever have another good series? I only know that they changed the animation style after all these years and they gave Ash a love interest or something? What do you wizards think of this series?
I only ever saw the very first two series as a kid (ended on the 2000 movie), but then watched Best Wishes a few years back.
It was enjoyable. The shenanigans were all the same and I really liked when early gen Pokemon were featured. The Pokemon had more personality than the in the earlier series, feeling more like characters instead of just animals. The animation was decent for a weekly anime but some scenes had extra details. Dent and Iris were unique in there own ways. I don't remember there being any love tension or even hints at anyone being more than just traveling partners, so it was good if you don't like the love interest trope.
>>31246 I heard the complete opposite, but because of actually changing things (usually for the better) you have people who don't handle change well that got super bent out of shape.
>>31247 People who hate S&M are usually people who are still mad about X&Y or they're just normies who haven't seen the show in a long time and only complain because muh nostalgia.
>>31265 It was the first anime I went full nerd on. Like it wasn't the first anime I watched (speed racer) but it was the first one I became a total fanboy of. Like for my birthday I wanted a Pokemon cake and all Pokemon themed stuff but no one knew what the fuck Pokemon was yet because it just came out and didn't become a full on fad yet. I got a Gameboy exclusively because I needed to play Pokemon. Hundreds of cards. Got that electronic Pikachu pet thing. God I loved Pokemon so much as a kid. It just hit this spot in my heart and soul like nothing else right at the right time in my life. I was around 10 (just like Ash) when the show was being aired. Seen and was interested in some of the collectables in the asian shops a bit before the show came out but didn't know yet what it was.
From then on I embraced the path of the otaku and never looked back. It was my gateway into love of Japanese media and eventually Japanese culture in general.
From the bottom of my heart I am thankful for Pokemon. It will always have a warm place in my heart.
>>31296 >>31301 >>31306 all pokemon games are shit, they are all the exact same thing rehashed over and over again plus they even try to scam you and make you buy the same game twice with their "red & blue" and all that color crap
>>31309 I had good fund with Sun. The secret is not playing the games the same way everytime. I roleplayed as an insect type collector and would only catch and use insect types. I never played focusing on insect types before in any of the other games. Had a great time doing it that way. In fact the last game I went in trying to catch'em'all was Emerald I think. It gets too exhausting doing it like that.
>>31312 I never said they were incompetent, I said the games are a scam meant to milk you on two games worth of money with little effort put into new gameplay systems.
Sun & Moon is the Buu saga of Pokemon, it's following up a series that was more serious and dramatic with a more lighthearted and comedic tone to it. Love it or hate, you have to admit, it did breathe some new life into a tired old franchise. I'm interested in the new series that's supposedly going to be a reboot or something?
>>31388 That really depends on you and your personal taste. What gen of games do you like the most? How much can you tolerate more or less the same simple formula? What have you watched so far?
>>31388 worth watching >The Original Series (up to the Indigo League, drop it when they go to the Orange Islands) >XY >Sun and Moon Skip the rest. Even the Indigo League is honestly pretty terrible but it's quite funny and has a lot of nostalgia if you grew up in the 90s.
Lads, I'm thinking about watching Sun & Moon, I've seen some clips and it has that feeling the original series had, where it was more about the characters and the fun times rather than endless battles. Also, it has some pretty cute succubi.
This is just personal experience, but I made a face like that when I was a kid >be 8 in about 1996 >awful diet that consisted of nothing but doritos, hostess snack cakes, fast food and soda >got hungry one night and snuck down stairs for leftover pizza, chips and about two or three sodas >it was delicious as heck >woke up the next morning with a terrible gut ache >had bad diarrhea that morning >told mom that I was sick, but she didn't believe me for some reason >she makes me come with her to the mall to get a present for her friend >everything seems fine, stomach pain isn't as bad as earlier, but I still didn't want to eat anything >mall is usually pretty busy for this time of day >everything is fine until we head into some antique store >stomach starts aching again, like a fiery, stabbing pain >I tell mom I have to use the bathroom but she's busy looking for a present >she finally picks a present and now we're waiting in line to pay, lots of people waiting too >imgonnaexplode.jpg >it's our turn to pay, cashier is taking care of the transaction >let out this kinda impatient, stressed out sigh to myself, then, suddenly it happens >I feel this squish in my underwear and shorts, i can also smell something >mfw I just shat myself in front of my mom, the cashier and a bunch of strangers >mfw a bunch of teenagers behind us started mock gagging from the smell and said "ew what the fuck?" out loud >mfw a bunch of the strangers started getting angry and grossed out at me >mom noticed after a few seconds and quickly finished paying and me and her scooted the fuck out of there >she literally picked me up and booked it to the nearest bathroom >shit was leaking from my leg and it drenched my sock and shoe with poop >mom takes me into ladies bathroom and keeps guard as i take the nastiest shit of my life at that point >i finish up, but I'm still covered in poop and now I'm crying because of all that happened >she comforts me and takes me home >as we walk out, we notice a big streak of shit on the floor >we see a pissed off janitor just about to clean up the mess >he looked like he wanted to kill me >mom takes off with me and present in hand >we get home and I clean myself up, mom realizes the present she bought was covered in liquid shit >my face again when she told me it costed her like $200 >she sends me to bed lay down and I break down again after what has happened >she came into my room later and gave me some juice and crackers for my stomach >she promised to never tell anyone about what happened >my mom ended up buying her friend a cheaper present, but we never went back to that mall for like nine years >atleast we still joke about it, we call it "the incident" and joke about how the janitor was gonna make me clean up the mess myself and how the statue was a "one of a kind" item I'm still kinda traumatized from all that happened years later though, I decided to eat more cautiously and i never pigged out on junk food late at night ever again after that. Sorry for the blog post I just realized. >>31428
>>31272 That looks like German TV. I would kill for a TV program like back then. With the whole marketing style behind it, it was perfect brainwashing and I'm still feeling love for that, call me stupid. They had heartfelt professional dubbing and localized German theme songs who stand the test of time.
Now the same TV channel broadcasts scripted reality bullshit where people insult each other.
As much as people praise Lana, she's got such an outputting design that I can't get behind. The game version of her is better; bit more spunky and cocky.
>>32246 I think gen4 is the first pokemon games for a lot of people. My very first game was Special Pikachu and to me 4 is exactly where I began losing interest. 5 was absolute bottom for me then it begins to pick up again. 8 has one of cutest pokemans in the whole franchise. Haven't played the newer one yet and I think I won't be able to for financial reasons.
>>32247 Gen 5 has the worst designs and when they were really scraping the bottom of the barrel. I hear that gen 6 was better, but I had completely stopped paying attention to Pokemon by then.
People only hated the gen 7 anime because it strayed away from the original formula a bit; and now it's back to the same old thing for gen 8.
Also: >people hated the new style in SM and called all the reaction faces "cringy" >meanwhile they're fine with the same shit in the new series and they're "used" to the animation now
I have a feeling that there's going to be little to no actual exploration of the Galar region in the new series. So far, Ash and Go have been in Kanto, Hoenn and soon to be Sinnoh. I really hope they space out the region hopping a bit more, just because it'll become stale fast at the pace they're going.
That being said, it's already more interesting and entertaining than Ash goofing around on a Hawaiian island for three years.
People can complain about it until the end of time, but Ash WON a Pokemon league! This isn't like orange islands where it's all filler, Alola is 100% canon. It may not have been the most competitive or top tier league, but it still counts.
Why would anyone get excited for PM's region hopping gimmick? It's a fact that once a series ends, all mention of past Pokemon used and characters met become erased. Look at the recent Sinnoh episode as an example of this: it's like Nintendo completely forgot what it looked and felt like. People who expected all these cameos and guest appearances from every season, don't actually realize how the anime truly works. >the big shitstorm that happens when Ash goes to Kalos, and all the nerds rage when there's no mention or reference to Serena or Greninja >the amount of salt that would spill if when Ash goes back to Alola, and not only does he remember what the region even was, but they have his friends cameo
The PM series feels very gimmicky to me; it's like they knew the Galar region is small and uninteresting, so they threw in the region hopping aspect at the last second, just to add padding. I also find the characters so far aren't too interesting, a lot of SM's charm was in the character development and the slice of life aspect. To me, this current series just feels like a half-baked idea that was rushed out to meet the anime deadline quota.
I can understand why people don't like the gameplay, but Gen VII had some of the best characters in all of the series.
I also think Lusamine was a good villain, the child abuse aspect and just that whole arc in general was quite mature and dark for a kids game. Too bad the Ultra series watered her down quite a bit, and the ending was a bit of a disappointment.
Misty = Asian/Western mix May = American white succubus Dawn = Asian Japanese Iris = mix of brown/Native American Serena = French Mallow = Hawaiian or Polynesian Lana = Chinese (her outfit resembles Chinese clothing) Lillie = German or Russian. Lusamine and Gladion looked like they were going back to the motherland. Lillie's snow outfit also resembled Russian clothing.
>>33105 I liked how later on in Sun & Moon, she became the favorite succubus for the writers, so they gave her way more dialogue and screen time. Compared to the first half of the series, where she and her family had very little to do.
Suiren sort of became the main succubus once all the major arcs that involved Lillie were finished. I do love Lillie too though, she's easily the most emotionally invested character, and she's absolutely adorable.
>>32974 >Iris = mix of brown/Native American I think she's Indian, as in India Indian. I assume most of the brown people in Pokemon, barring the obvious Hawaiian and Okinawa settings, are meant to be Indian, at least in X/Y. I've seen some Japanese artists assume the same for the water type gym leader in Sword/Shield. >Lana = Chinese (her outfit resembles Chinese clothing) I don't really see it. But I've seen people say the same for Rosa.
>>31272 Nowadays it would be Jojo or MHA. I'm not really sure what else, I want to say Attack on Titan but it looks like that really plummeted under people's interests a long time ago. Also there's one generation missing, the Naruto and Bleach days of the 00's, but I guess most of those people grew up on Pokemon too.
It's officially been one year since the end of Sun & Moon's syndication, I gotta say, I miss that series quite alot. It had such a distinctive, different feel from any other Pokemon series: the atmosphere, the music, the sceneries, it felt so relaxing and laid back. The characters were all very likable and were fleshed out quite a bit, you really felt like you got to know all of them. The somewhat recent episode of the new series where Satoshi goes back to Alola was nice, definitely nice to see that series is still canon and wasn't immediately forgotten by the time the new arc came about. Can't wait to see more Alola in the future!
>>32246 Platinum was successful for the most part. HGSS sealed the deal by being a near perfect remake unlike ORAS. As >>32249 said, I lost interest after I saw GenV Pokemon and being based around shit york and have not played another game since.
The latest episode of the 2019 series involving Alola was trash. None of the characters you cared about were there, it was a boring experience to boot as well.
OK, fine. Which thread is it permissible to post pokemon images in? > You were issued a warning! ;_; > for the following reason: > off-topic/not an image dump thread > Your warning was filed on Saturday 28 August, 2021
I posted three images of sonia and nessa with no comment.
>>37682 1. you can upload 3 picture per post 2. if you lurked a bit you would notice people here don't generally spam threads with porn unless that's related to the topic
>>37685 P. Lainchan has multi-image uploads without JS but this site doesn't, both vichan descendents. Some of us choose to browse with remote code execution disabled. Q. I posted images of pokemon characters in the pokemon thread. >>37682 R. None of the images were porn. It would be much more constructive if you commented on what actually happened rather than burning a random strawman.
