I can't take anyone who doesn't like anime seriously anymore. It happens to anybody else here?
I mean, if someone say that they don't like anime, or that they don't watch it, is practically given that they are normalgroids. So when someone says something it directly or indirectly, I inmediantly lost interest in whatever that person has to say.

I feel like Anime is more appealing to normalgroids than ever with Netflix and Crunchyroll basically giving access to every series imaginable without any effort.
And since Anime has become more and more accessible to normalgroids (this can apply to really anything to mainstream touchs) the animation studios have to dumb down and westernize the style to make it as appealing as humanly possible.

 No.36085

>>36078
If normalgroids enjoy something or not is completly irrelevant. What matters in the art in itself. And anime is very wizardpilled and appealing to outcast.

>>36080
Liking anime still makes you a weirdo. Sure, some of the most mainstream stuff may don't earn you some weird lookings, maybe, but actually being into anime and liking still makes you a big weirdo in almost any context except for the outcast circles.

No, a lot of anime that are in these sort of streaming sites are older than the sites themselves. That's because people like anime just like it is. The high demand of anime exist prior these sites and would still exist without them.

Watching television doesn't make you special, especially if its some seasonal SOL bullshit animu. It's easier to prefer anime over western cartoons, because Japan churns that shit out like butter. Every anime season has at least 100 new series' to watch. America puts out two or three non-CGI cartoons a year. TV anime is always pretty dogshit, especially now that Japan's humor has been restricted by heavy TV censorship. Most anime film directors are pretty up their own ass too, even short film directors.

I used to think the following due to my experience:

The only cartoons that normies can watch without feeling uncomfortable/weird/bad/underage are their childhood cartoons, Pixar and Disney movies.

The only adult oriented cartoons that exist for them are the ones that have black humor such as: Family Guy, American Dad…

The rest are considered "for children" without taking in consideration the plot, the characters, the themes in it… just because it’s animation.

I don’t have to mention what I think about this mentality. It's cancer and it should have disappeared few decades ago.

Nowadays I think I understand why people "don't like anime". Apart from what I have mentioned earlier, they haven't been exposed to anime that is objectively speaking very good, for instance: Perfect Blue. Normies in general just don't have a proper concept of anime in their minds. On the other hand, they don't want to see Ecchi garbage like Shimoneta, edgy bullshit like Redo of Healer… and I can’t blame them for that.

If you really want to introduce anime properly you should recommend stuff that is not constantly insulting people's intelligence and have a bit of substance. Trust me, it works and normies end up being amazed. It’s not a lost cause.

Apart from all this, OP you shouldn’t be losing interest in people just because they haven’t been exposed to anime (or at least I wouldn't do that considering that I could develop new interests by being next to them).

>normals hate anime
I just checked, /r/anime has 2.5 million followers on reddit, putting it in the top 160 subreddits.
Trust me, you are not special for watching/liking anime. Even worse is that all I see in this thread is generic shounenshit, SOLshit, and CGDCTshit being posted in this thread, literally the most normalfag genres possible. Anime as a whole is awful, there are maybe 100 total anime that aren't a complete life drain worse than posting on imageboards. You are not special because you consume certain types of media.

 No.36165

>>36160
Like it was already said, what matters is anime in itself. If you care so much about what normalgroids do or not, you're letting them control your taste.

 No.36166

>>36165
Yea, but the fact is that liking or not liking anime doesn't mean anything by itself in regards to being a weirdo or not. The only thing I might say about anime is that the obsessed anime people tend to be not very smart, they also have an awful habit of forcing their obsession with anime into everything else. Especially the pseuds that seem to think anime is as intellectually stimulating as Seneca's "On Anger" or whatever delusional thoughts they seem to always have. Supremely insecure in general those folks are.

But as a whole anime is just a medium, and consumption of media has nothing to do with being a weirdo. Plenty of normalfags like weird shit like angel's egg or abstract art, weirdos are weird because they are weird, even if they do listen to pop music and watch Seinfeld. Although perhaps it is more likely to see weirdos in niche genres of any art medium, since they feel they belong and are attracted to the outskirts of everything. That however has nothing to do with anime specifically though, and more to do with what you watch, such as for example in films the movie Eraserhead is very strange and probably attracts many wierdos.

 No.36167

>>36166
>doesn't mean anything by itself in regards to being a weirdo or not.
It does. Sure, you can say that today you can reveal that you like this o that mainstream anime, and not much people will think you're a weirdo. But you can also say that, if you like, these mainstream books, these mainstream music or these mainstream games, not much people will think you're a weirdo neither. That's completly irrelevant. Here we're talking about people that really are into anime, not people that are just with the trendy ones. And sorry to break the bubble, but if you go out and start talking about the roots of this or that genre, how much you enjoy the style of a certain artist, or this oscure piece you found, you're going to be talking alone quickly. You have to reach the people that are into the stuff to talk about these sorts of things.
>the obsessed anime people
For me is the other way around, people who are not into anime are usually boring normalgroids.
People who are obsessed about it can talk and talk and say something interesting while being interesting themselves.
>like weird
Yes, some people like the pretend they like something, oscure or not, so they can gain some type of social credit. They're not new and they will always exist. Basing anything of what you do or think on what these people are doing is a mistake.

By definition of something obscure, not many people will know it, so naturally if you just wonder into a group of random people and start talking about an obscure thing, they won't be able to have any say since they don't know it themselves. As I said before, this has nothing to do with anime or even media in general, but rather how niche something is, it also does not make you weird as in personality wierd, but simply that you have obscure or niche interests. As I said, normalfags can like Angel's Egg or Belladonna too, alternatively weirdos can enjoy dragonball z and lucky star. We actually agree I think, but the difference being that for some reason you link consumption of media to actual personality. To which I could only reply with a quote from a famous film/book "“You are not your job, you're not how much money you have in the bank. You are not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You are not your fucking khakis. You are all singing, all dancing crap of the world.”.
>or me is the other way around, people who are not into anime are usually boring normalgroids.
That's probably because you enjoy anime, and thus have a lot to talk about with other people who are obsessed with anime. Pretty easy connection to make there, and not to repeat myself too many times - but someone not liking your specific brand of media consumption does not make them a "boring normalgroid", they just don't consume the same media.
>Yes, some people like the pretend they like something
If anime is for weirdos then what benefit would a "normalgroid" have in pretending to like it? If anything their social status would fall, so you have sort of self-defeated your own assumption.

>Trust me, it works and normies end up being amazed. It’s not a lost cause.
Why do you care about "normies" and what they choose to watch?

 No.36177

I think people in this thread are confusing hipsters with "weirdos"

 No.36180

Pretty much all normies watch anime these days, and not even "obscure anime" but all anime, and the sluts watch anime too so they can cosplay and be whores on twitch.

Normies are a bit less likely to read manga and a lot less likely to play eroge, so those are a bit safer for now.

Anime has become pretty mainstream even the people I thought would never be into it are now watching stuff like AOT HXH and Tokyo ghoul. it's ironic for me because when I was in my early days of weebism 9 or 8 years ago I felt special and unique for being into it and felt like an outcast and hoped it will one day go big and acceptable. but now I just do not care really about what normies who I barely interact with are watching in their free time.

 No.36249

I'm a 32 year old wizard and I can't stand anime. I used to be a huge weeb back when I was in my teens, but then anime became super cringy to me, i don't know why, maybe because it reminds me of how cringy I was as a weeb.

 No.36251

>>36247
Anime has been mainstream virtually since its inception. Definitely by the 2000s. Only difference is back then less people knew it as anime, it was just toonami or whatever to them. Literally everyone I knew in elementary school watched naruto, and dragon ball z, yugiho, etc. but when I tried to tell them what anime and manga was they would act confused.

The real distinction though is that normalfags only watch the most popular anime at the moment, whereas otakus will watch things like ecchi/harem anime that would disgust normalfags, or those with better taste will watch niche shows from the 80s/90s and such.

 No.37384

>>36070
Which world are you living in were watching anime is some obscure underground thing?

Also, how does consuming a different type of media make you superior to normies? You could make that argument if you were reading philosophy books and non-fiction to expand your mind, but judging by your attached picture you seem to be the type that watches slice of life garbage.

You are coping, trying to feel superior to normies in any way you can, but going about in the most pathetic way possible.

 No.37398

Anime is too commercial for me, can't stand mindless "turn off your brain" fun and toy advertisments. There are a few good movies or ovas - whatever you want to call them, that are often based on stories taken from books, which are sometimes good.
The problem with anime stems from the fact that you need a large workforce to produce it, hence its commercial success is the number one priority. The Japanese obsession with tropes is also rather off-putting, not to mention the cutesy asian infantilism found in these works.

 No.37464

>>36070
Anime like Chainsaw Man attract A LOT of normies even before airing.
Shingeki no Kyojin is also pretty popular among normies (notwithstanding the thinly veiled antisemitism, curiously enough).

 No.37466

Japanese nationalism is something that makes anime cringe these days. It's usually an off-beat quip like "Wow Japan is amazing!" said by some cute stinkyubus, and it ruins the whole series for me.
