This is not an anti anime post I happen to adore anime however I cannot take anime seriously. There are rarely exceptions to this for example Haibane Renmei but anime comes off as whimsical and I cannot take it seriously as it seems so cartoon like in design. Manga I can appreciate as serious but any serious manga that gets an anime adaption fails in this regard it all seems so silly from violence to the serious themes.
When I watch anime it is moe because moe anime is the only anime that is better than the manga as the animatuon adds to the moe and makes it fun to watch. Haibane Renmei and a few other serious anime manage to keep me interested and invested in a serious way but I cannot get past how silly everything looks and the tone that this media has as anime usually.
The best anime are cute succubi doing cute things because if I wanted a serious story I would read a manga and if I wanted to think I would surely read a book or decide to just think myself. Am I alone in thinking this way?
>>36268 It may have something to do with it but I personally think it is because it is actually animated. The art in anime is different than manga in anime it can look gritty and real despite not being even a human character like punpun for example. I would like to see an anime that does not bother with color and is black and white in a manga style I am sick of manga adaptions being ruined by anime like aku no hana (flowers of evil) for example.
>>36267 Oh your back, how unfortunate. Of course Haibane Renmei is the only show you can watch, its full of anime succubi for you to pretend to be.
>>36268 No, this poster is just a transvestite that watches CGDCT so it can self insert as a lesbian succubi, this is no joke either. Its brain is rotted from drug abuse so it excuses itself from watching anything with depth, and completes its sexual fetish by masturbating to loli as it imagines itself to be the loli as well.
I cannot take anime seriously either, though there's sometimes a gem like Kaiji or LoGH that keeps me going back for more (just like occasionally good thread keeps me going back to shitty imageboards), but I cannot for the life of me watch CGDCT, moe and stuff like that. Call it cute aggression or whatever the fuck, as a slav I learnt to feel stuff is either miserable or it's fake. >>36268 This takes me out a lot, but people seem to crave it, otherwise streaming/vtubers wouldn't blow up. >>36270 >No, this poster is just a transvestite that watches CGDCT so it can self insert as a lesbian succubi, this is no joke either. Its brain is rotted from drug abuse so it excuses itself from watching anything with depth, and completes its sexual fetish by masturbating to loli as it imagines itself to be the loli as well. There's this too. Animefags that didn't fold after realizing there's nothing good that was made after 2014 (again, there are exceptions) and double down on their weeb faggotry are deeply disturbed in my eyes.
>>36271 >double down on their weeb faggotry are deeply disturbed in my eyes. No, I truly mean this poster specifically is literally a transvestite that watches CGDCT so it can pretend to be a lesbian unironically. Its a well known avatarfag on /b/ that screeches about wanting to be a succubi everyday. I'm not joking, although I wish I was.
>>36271 Kaji and some other anime like Akagi and one outs are examples of anime I can take seriously it may be that the setting for a world of misery does not work so well in anime but in manga it can. LOGH is a very good anime I really should finish it but drop it around 50 episodes for reasons other than quality! It could possibly be that the newer art style for anime does not gel well for serious anime? Made in abyss is another that is an exception but the manga is better.
It is unlucky that you cannot enjoy moe as most anime that is not moe is not worth watching.
>>36267 You just have the old normalgroid way of thinking in which you can only watch 'live-action' trash. That's it. Good for use people who actually enjoy anime take it with the seriously it deserves.
>>36277 There is nothing wrong with moe it can also have in depth story and make you think but it can also be a spectacle for the senses. If you hate on moe you are most likely just not mature enough to enjoy it so stick to death note and shouen shit
>>36273 I also think LOGH is a masterpiece but dropped it around 50. It's because you know once the MC has conquered everything the only thing left is to become corrupt and have a tragic downfall. I just didn't want to see it happen.
>>36286 Oh man, you gotta go back to it. LOGH won't let you down. The show never devolves to that kind of cliche bullshit. Everything remains realistic, nuanced, and insightful. Its insane they were able to maintain such a high level of quality for 110 episodes.
every time a major ark came to an end, new fears of cliche ways the show could fall apart would make me worry about continuing the show. but every time, my fears did not come to fruition.
>>36295 I have watched up to 40 episodes multiple times over the years should I start it all over again or start it from the beginning? I love my moe but am interested in finishing this show.
>>36296 hard to say wiz, guess it depends on how much of the story you remember. if you remember enough, picking up on ep 40 might make it less likely you will drop it again. on the other hand, LOGH has a lot going on, so if you have forgotten most of it, you might want to rewatch it (plus if you have forgotten a lot you may enjoy re-watching the early shit). another option is to skim through some episodes to refresh your memory.
i love my moe too, but have been having trouble finding new shit (that's watchable). got any recommendations? stella no mahou is probably my favorite moe… fuck, i adore the MC… gotta rewatch it…
>>36297 I staarted watching again am at episode 1 and I remember everything up to probably 10 episodes however not all the politics I may skip to the space fort part because I very much feel like I may drop it and when I had dropped this anime in the past it was never because I was bored it was more that my PC would restart and I would lose where I was up to or my HDD would break etc I think I may just try rewatch it. >moe Barakamon is a good SOL with a bit of moe very easy to watch. Ichigo mashimaro is pure moe well worth watching same with mitsuboshi colors and An angel flew down to me. The Ryou's work is never done, is a nice SOL moe anime with lolis in it that is heart warming. Someone here sugested Moetan to me it is a moe with a LOT of fan service. Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight! is the last moe I watched and finished it is very moe but also has a lot of plot and depth.
>>36290 Well, not all are Moe at all but here is a list of some early 2000s lesser-known worthy anime. Figure 17 Deser punk Love hina. BEST HAREM COMEDY ANIME Brigadoon: Marin & Melan Princess Tutu Koi kaze Maria sama ga Miteru. ONE OF THE BEST YURI ANIME Pugyuru. HAVE NOT SEEN IT BUT IT IS A GREAT MOE ANIME FROM WHAT I HEARD Genshikan. COMFY OTAKU RELATED ANIME
These are what comes to the top of my head but trust me there are many more interesting hidden gems from that period you just have to do some researches and try to find something that gets your attention.
Also if you wanted more Moe anime there is this chart for you.
>>36304 Moe that is good is not bad and for moe to be good it usually needs to have a very loose plot and be the type of anime you can fall asleep during and wake up and enjoy without needing to follow anything. Moe is relaxing and fun SOL can also have a plot and be seamless like mushiushi is
>>36297 Rewatching LOGH from the start and what an amazing show I never liked star wars even as a kid but this has so much going on that I care about and it has a lot to say which is unsaid. Any other wizards want to watch this with me?
>>36268 The TV format is what does it for me usually. The pacing in manga is so much better (and gives you more control over how you pace your consumption) compared to something written to build up slowly over 20 minutes.
>>36342 It is relaxing you can watch it and enjoy the visual delights without needing to invest your energy into following the anime. These type of anime are made for mature people.
OP here: Watching Legends of galactic heroes and I take that anime seriously it seems to be the art style and how new anime is made and sounds that I cannot take seriously.
>>36353 not any better than a stinkybus who finds pets cute, you are still worshipping stinccs the first step to stop being a crab is stop watching anime
>>36354 Isn't the definition of a crab to be someone who pulls everyone else down into the bucket of misery? Because…isn't that exactly what you're doing?
>>36355 No don't you understand what he's saying you can't enjoy anime on anime imageboards you can't watch anime on a website with a /jp/ board don't you understand that you can't like what he like because he doesn't like it what part of that don't crab you crab undercrab standcrab
>>36361 I can enjoy interacting with people regardless of what is between their legs so why should I care if something is made by succubus or voiced by them it makes no sense to be so closed minded and reminds me of polfags who cannot enjoy art etc if made by black people.
>>36378 Shut up, stupid. Seiyuu give character and personage to the beautiful wonderful array of lines people love so much. By relation they are beautiful and wonderful as well.
>>36351 Absolutely true in the west, I am ashamed of being a western anime fan, I would never admit it or in anyway show that I watch anime IRL, Jap anime fans are rather wizardly though.
>>37993 Unfortunately anime has been increasingly co-opted by normalfags in the West. And not just normalfags, but normalfags of the worst kinds. Succubi, etc. More and more of the new shows are made to cater to the Western market too. Luckily they still stay away from more fringe show and older shows.
Someone tell me I am just going mad but it has been over 10 years since iseaki as we know it in anime has dominated. How can this formulaic bullshit made entirely of tropes to the point they are nearly all meta and ironic, still be popular?
>>38000 >it has been over 10 years I was gonna say i don't remember it being popular ten years ago, but then I googled re:zero and it released in 2012. What the fuck.
>>38001 >most anime is formulaic so it's no surprise Whilst true this genre takes it to another level. I do not even bother watching them anymore because they are so run into the ground and uncreative. >>38002 Re:Zero is one of the better ones if you can call it that also. Something has to give and it when it does I am doubting that it will be a return to idk.. using the anime medium to tell stories just like novels and manga to a lesser extent. We will just get some other retarded shit.
My question is how are these normalfags who are probably watch more anime than a lot of us wiz able to constantly consume the same series over and over again and not raise a fuss? There are so many good japanese modern novels that could be adapated into great anime or manga and yet we get these shitty pulp LNs made into anime. I can't even go into my local book stores and buy LNs that are not "in another world with my smart phone".
>>36268 Most of the time I dislike when people say the original voice acting is better than the English version. I'm pretty sure if those people were fluent in Japanese, they would know how over the top the voice actors are being
>>38017 The over the top-ness is what people want. I mean most cartoons, hell even most movies have people talk in a way that no one would ever in real life.
>>36267 After seeing everyone rave about how great the gundam franchise is, I decided to give 0079 a shot. Cba to watch the whole series so I started the movie trilogy, which according to most people, even anime reviewers is considered pretty good. Idk how people like this show… The characters express almost no emotion, there's barely any humor and what's worse is this terrible We've been attacked sir, send troops and go fight that is looping over and over and over again. I get it there's some character depth and development to be found here, but the series is so DRY and pain in the ass to watch. god…
>>38051 I notice being dry and a bit boring is a problem most anime space operas have. With gundam shows, I find that the more they spend in deep space the lower my overall enjoyment of the series, and the more time spend on the ground usually is a hint that I will enjoy it more. It isn't a causal relationship, but I have noticed a correlation. Observation doesn't apply to movies and shorter OVAs though.
