The Things You Never Share
I'm still a little leery of /elder/, both in concept and in practice. But if the board fails, it should be because we gave it a fair trial.
This thread is for us to name those things which we do not share on the main site. If you don't want to go into too much detail and are not quite willing to cross the trust chasm yet, that's fine; I also plan on waiting and seeing how the board develops a bit before sharing anything past this post.
I've generally been reluctant to share any music, art, or works I created on the rest of the site, because of the existence and harm potential of outside observers. A lot of my hobby work is of mediocre quality (see attached), and some of it could be used to identify me, and I've said a significant number of stupid, stupid things over the years on the internet, so it's possible that observers could make a lolcow out of me with a little digging.
I also don't share in-depth stories or specific details regarding being bullied in elementary school, or my aggressive combative period in high school, or my breakdown in college. But these are not quite a result of fear of outsiders. The Columbine massacre happened when I was in Junior High, and it seemed like the way schools treated bullying changed from night to day as a result of how the media portrayed the massacre. Most apprentices on this site are too young to remember what things were like beforehand, and I think the stories I could share would be met with disbelief rather than sympathy. It is only a secondary matter that most of those stories are so specific (relating to specific, uncommon illnesses) that they could be used to identify me; observers could mock me, but in general I don't expect too much sympathy from wizards either. -

What is /elder/'s favorite genre? I mean what kind of movies do you enjoy the most, what kind of books do you read, which genre do you like most in anime or games, etc.
I enjoy the horror genre the most, funny because until a few years ago I hated it with a passion but now most of the media I consume is horror. Mysteries, thrillers and dramas tie for the second place.
Also, is there a worse genre than romantic comedy? The one who created it should be tortured in hell, normalfag's favorite genre is romantic comedy, fuck that shit. -

What is wizardry to you? For some people Wizardry is a strict guideline of not having friends, sex, contact with certain groups of people, avoidance of websites, celibacy. So what is it for you personally?
Do you live out the wizard life style? Is it something you respect and admire, or something you just see as an unobtainable goal.
True Wizardry for me, is perfection. The idea of wizardry changed a lot over the course of wizchan's life. A lot of users say that it is too strict and that there really is no wizard ideal. When I view wizardry I like to think of it as a goal to obtain. I feel like Wizardry is something I am supposed to achieve to become the best person I can be. Its the infatuation of this ideal wizard that makes me want to improve as a person to become a "true wizard". Wizardry is the end-game and one that is the right path for people like myself, and I assume everyone reading this as well. Elder is often accused of being segregation, one that is not needed. However I view it as an encouragement of sorts. I know that in reality it is a meaningless achievement, one that matters so little in my life and by extension the universe. However being a "elder wizard" makes me feel as if there is still room to grow as a wizard.
Would really enjoy to hear everyone elses view of wizardry. Keep it mature however, lets not turn this into a poor quality thread like one on /wiz/ -

Why are alt-right/stormfrontish ideologies so prevalent among Wizardchan users?
I would think that, due to constantly being trampled on in social hierarchies, they'd be hardcore collectivists of some kind. I doubt anarcho-socialism or its variants would appeal, due to quickly being disavowed of the notion that people can organize themselves with justice, but state socialism might appeal. At the very least, I'd think they'd want expanded bux. Alt-right ideologies typically see bux of various kinds as used by leeches.
My only guess is that they'd want to feel superior to others in some way, be it not being a normie or nebulous qualities like genetic superiority. The oppressed are often vindictive and spiteful toward their oppressors, which is understandable, if nothing else.
I don't mean to discuss the validity of ideologies such as these. This has been done to death, on this imageboard and on other communities. I'm merely confused at the prevalence. Perhaps it's merely a selection bias, since adherents would be quite vocal. -

Shitposts are nothing new to wizchan. However, shitposting nowadays is often combined with insults leading to nothing but normie drama. There's never any legitimate reason for these events but that happen every week or maybe even every day. It's insane to me that on wizchan we allow and it seems endorse this kind of behavior.
I thought we were here to get away from normie behavior. Why are those who would seek to harm their fellow wizard in any capacity be allowed here? It really is quite sickening and only makes me want to leave the site. -

Elder Wizards, what are your thoughts on solitude in the modern day? Do you believe solitude can be healthy are eye opening? Do you think solitude is preferable to just introversion?
Personally the ideal of solitude sounds incredibly appealing but also quite suffocating. For some I imagine it would be freeing but for me I expect full-solitude would make time bind together so tightly life would go faster than it already does. -
