Old School Runescape is a fantastic game, although not single player. however, you can play account types that don't interact with other players called 'iron men'.
Are there any simulators that are so immersive that it parallels real life? Like flying simulators, space simulators, etc. Those that require actual skill in flying, planning, and mathematics.
Something really hardcore would be awesome. Also, something that lets you freely play without a real goal if needed, since you would need to get a grasp of the game and immerse yourself.
One or the other works, but knowing if a game has both sounds great.
Earth Defense Force 4.1 it is not exactly immersive, and a like-it-or-hate-it kind of series, but if you do like it you will spend dozens of hours on it.
>>39659 Rimworld is pretty much a simpler version of Dwarf Fortress that's sci-fi instead of high fantasy with a much better UI. You can pirate the latest version to see if it's your thing.
>>39667 Well I got a main quest marker that told me to run off a cliff into the ocean beyond where the map went within the first 5 hours of gameplay. I usually consider a game that soft locks by following the main quest list to be bad..
Could any one recommend a twin stick shooter please? I'd like something fast paced, possibly with a dodge button and the ability to interact with enemy fire not just dodge it. Shooting it down sort of thing.
i recommend the long dark to wizzies, didn't like the game that much initially, but it really grew on me. >*single player yes >*not normalfaggish doubt many normalfags will be capable of enjoying it *comfy comfy overload *immersive probably one of the most immersive games ever to be made? especially if you play alone at night. *timekilling very time consuming because the game is very slow paced, you have to be very prepared each time you move away from a shelter, you also have perks that help a little with survival and you need to play a shitton of time to unlock them.
>>39797 forgot to mention, if you gonna play it, don't start on easy and don't spend too much time playing on normal, hard(stalker) is where the real game is, even if you gonna fail miserably, it's still better than having more resources than you know what to do with. >>39801 some people play pretty well on consoles.
Anything you could recommend for Gameboy Advance ? Preferrably RPG and has a really good story and gameplay
I am playing Yggdra Union right now. The gameplay is so complex that it will really push you to learn about the mechanics of the game, it is not a typical turn based strategy where you can simply unequip, the Morale also doesn't replenish everytime there's a new map. ( The Morale is like HP )
>>39597 FTL, the music and atmosphere is comfy and each run lasts at most an hour or two and is highly random meaning you can keep replaying almost endlessly assuming you enjoy it. Captains Edition is also a good mod to keep in mind if you exhaust vanilla.
>>39832 i kind of understand him, the more sequels something has the harder it is for me to begin that series, or keep up with it, this applies for movies, shows, not just games
>>39832 50 hours long jrpgs can get rather tedious, and I like it better when they are self contained stories.
>>39833 >the more sequels something has the harder it is for me to begin that series exactly, look at falcom's legend of heroes series, this is insane…
Hey wizzies. I got 10 bucks on my Steam wallet as a gift and I need your help. I'm in to clones of Tetris, Breakout, Bubble Booble (in the style of Nightmare in the Dark and such) and arcade stuff. Maybe some pinball as well. Games where the mechanics is what matters. Puzzle games as well. I've looked some puzzle games on steam but they're all fairly boring to even look at, like you're playing around with a set of locks or something.
I don't know if anyone can help me. This is probably all the money I'll have on Steam for a good while and I would like to spend it into something enjoyable. Last thing I played and liked it is a game called Wizorb. Pic related.
Even if you think of some game that doesn't quite fit my stuff I mentioned, please tell me eitherway. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.
It's amazing that this game hasn't been mentioned yet - Minecraft. It's intensely immersive, singleplayer and comfy. You get to carve out your own little slice of paradise right on your screen, it feels amazing!
>>40301 Speaking of dwarf fortress, it's worth learning how to play. You'll be tied to the wiki for a while before you learn what a dwarf needs to survive and how to make it. Adventure mode is good too, but it's a different game than fortress mode. So really there are two games in dwarf fortress.
One warning though, counter intuitively it does benefit from a more powerful CPU. But doesn't need one, really. Just turn the max dwarves down.
>>40307 I don't know if it's anything like dead island but the first Stalker game it's pretty good and really not hard at all. Just install some graphic mods, arsenal overhaul and set the difficulty to Master. >>40277 I don't agree, at least what I find comfy are colorful games with "happy" aesthetic. Mario games, for example.
i'm playing the yakuza series right now. it's good. i am having an excellent time my dudes. if you have no idea what to expect from these games, just imagine like Miami Vice, Scarface, The Godfather, something like that, but translated directly to a video game. there's a whole lot of talking, cinema cliches, ultra violence, and a protagonist that is pretty unfitting and oddly humane and ethical so the audience can sympathize and self-insert. play on the hardest difficulty available every time unless you enjoy turning your brain off like the retarded mobile phone playing japanese retard that's the primary consumer of these. if you own a ps4: start with 0 or kiwami. 0 is a prequel to 1, and kiwami is a remake of 1 (that's loads better than the original, i'm going to be honest). a remake of 2 is coming out soon as well. if you don't own a ps4: emulate 1 and 2 with a ps2 emulator. there are undub ISO's you can download to avoid the shitty english voice acting.
i have been hesitant to play this for years because personally i find japan's romanticizing of these nigger slime to be disgusting. yakuza all deserve to be buried in shallow graves. but thus far, the game has depicted them as psychopathic, superficial, backstabbing children that prey on their own communities and make everyone's life shit. which is true to reality. so i am okay with it.
>>40364 It isn't free, but Project Zomboid has a sprawling open map with no loading screens. You could just pirate it, the process is pretty simple. There's also codes given out during mass-testing in MP sometimes, so you could wait until one happens and ask around for a spare code.
>>40393 Did you play the Kyle Hyde games? You might like those, not sure what you're looking for, if you don't have a Ds you can emulate them in pretty much any piece of shit
>>40406 >I do have a DS Oh, that's much better then, because on pc you'd have to emulate stuff like closing the lid or blowing at the microphone. It's doable but it doesn't feel right. Start with Hotel Dusk if you play them.
I want a game like HOI or Rise of Nations, where I'm in control of a country and build an army etc. but I'm borderline retarded so these are all too hard for me, I want one that is easy to get into and learn
For anyone who has never played it, I fully recommend Arcanum: Of Steamwork and Magick Obscure.
I played this so many times in my teens. It's an RPG which takes place in a world where magic and technology exist alongside one another, though not always comfortably. There are Elves, Men, Orcs, Dwarves and dozens of beasts lurking in the wild to assault you.
You gain XP as you complete missions both major and minor, some for the sake of the narrative and some for the sake of enjoyment or experience. You essentially opt to become a "magic type" by learning spells, potions and such or a "technological type" by learning to use guns, producing mechanical traps and so forth. You can attract a small group of followers, including a stray dog you save from being beaten up (if you know where to find him in time). You battle zombies, wraiths, goblins, giant spiders, dark elves and tons more.
The central plot is that the zephyr on which you were travelling crashes after being attacked by two planes. You are the sole survivor of this crash, and discovering you there among the wreckage is a guy who belongs to a religion which believes you to be the Chosen One (cliched I know) prophesied to rise from the ashes etc. You fight your way to a nearby town, where the guy's teacher, a senior wizard, has been forced to flee after being attacked at the inn. From there on in you and your buddy travel across the (giant) map, visiting the modern city of Tarant, the ancient and dishevelled kingdom of Dernholm, the small mountain village of Stillwater, and several others towns and cities, each with its own character and set of mysteries to solve.
The atmosphere of the game is rather bleak, and the soundtrack (available on youtube) is very melancholy which I absolutely love. Although it may appear dated to younger players, I find its basic aesthetic to be quiet comfortable and underwhelming.
If you are a fan of Lord of the Rings, you probably will enjoy it.
>>41224 Arcanum is a very flawed game that's really worth playing only if good writing is enough for you to put up with horrid gameplay (and we're talking about writing that's not as good as Planescape with combat quite significantly worse than it) and graphics that were pretty poor even at the time. It's a good game but I'm not sure if I would recommend it for most people, it appeals only to a fairly small niche audience that values writing over everything else, and at that point really you might as well go for a gamebook.
>>41227 In what way is the gameplay "horrid" (unless you forgot to enable the turn-based mode, that is)? It's pretty typical for rpgs of that generation. My literally only problem with Arcanum was the stupid ally AI.
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon just came out and as a buyer I can confirm it is awesome and a damn great tribute to Castlevania III's gameplay at that.
It smooths things out that were clunky in the old Castlevania III's game mechanics on the NES.
>>41227 What's wrong with the gameplay? You can either fight in turn-based mode or in live action mode (which I prefer).
In my opinion it is one of very few games which creates a world which is both recognizably mundane (and therefore realistic) and also full of interesting detail, an awesome backstory, a great sense of humour (the character names etc) and much more besides. And the fact that you can complete the game having only completed around 30% of the available tasks / missions is great IMO as it allows so much to be discovered. For example, rescuing the group of Iron Clan dwarves trapped by dark creatures in their mine kingdom is the result of several other smaller missions, each irrelevant to the main narrative. Or discovering the location of Magnus's ancestral home and watching his delight as he finds out that he isn't just some wandering, rootless, pathetic dwarf by an ancestor to a great dwarf kingdom. Or breaking into the prisons at Dernholm and talking to the various inmates and becoming a master lock-picker by doing so if that's what you've been training yourself to become. It's just an awesome game. And it also develops your moral compass IMO. I first played it in my early teens, and again and again you are forced to analyze a situation and decide what is the moral thing to do, even though it isn't always clear. And your decision affects your narrative from that moment onwards (e.g. whether you help the priest in Shrouded Hills destroy the machine, or report him to the police for asking you). I must admit that one time I saved the game and then decided I would just travel around Tarant to see how many NPCs I could take out before my small posse was annihilated. But when I started doing that I felt immense guilt and shame, and loaded the game immediately to my restore point.
>>41230 >>41246 It simply doesn't work both neither in turn-based nor real-time. It's horribly unbalanced and has a ton of weird or downright bad design decisions, some things make it break down completely (harm), lack of the ability to command your AI leads to many clusterfuck situations, displayed to-hit percentages are completely busted, I could go on for hours. I have never really seen anyone defend Arcanum's combat before, from my experience just about everyone agrees that it ranges from barely adequate to gamebreaking depending on character build and personal tolerance for bullshit. Troika could seemingly either do good writing with bad gameplay (arcanum and VtMB) or good gameplay but shitty writing (ToEE), never both.
>>41247 I don't know, I unironically enjoyed Arcanum including its gameplay. Discovering its wonky sides and exploiting them was a part of the fun too.
>>41268 Same here, and I also don't think its combat was worse than PS:T's. But maybe that's because I only put points into wisdom and intelligence when I played PS:T.
What are some good rpg`s where i can be a Wizard? I played Dragon`s dogma recently and the only thing that kept me going was the sorcerer vocation. I started the original Witcher but i don`t think i will have the willpower to finish it. In essence the game must be an rpg, have a mage class and i want to customize my character(no way i am playing a succubi as wizard).
I am honestly thinking about going back Skyrim after 6 years or playin all elder scrolls. In which case i would stream, just to record the experience.
>>41333 Kingdoms of Amalur has some pretty badass magic, sadly the game is somewhat unfinished and balance is a bit broken, don't abuse any of the crafting proffesions if you don't want to ruin it for yourself because it's an easy way to get OP as fuck very quick in an already fairly easy game. Arx Fatalis has a unique rune-based magic system, barely any customization though but it is a great game. If you like turn-based combat I guess Divinity: Original Sin also qualifies, you can do some very fancy elemental combos pretty much every fight and there is a lot of spells. If you're okay with a roguelike Tales of Maj'Eyal has some pretty fucking crazy spellcasting classes - chronomancers, psionics, celestials who literally use the sun and moon to burn their enemies, all sorts of wacky and fun shit.
>>41334 Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale are also great if you like dnd style gameplay. It also offers quite a bit of customization. You literally become a god as a mage. Most modern games like to keep you sane and restricted in terms of powers even later on, but these games let you go nuts.
>>41335 Something to keep in mind though is that while DnD mages get stupidly powerful by the end they're not exactly good nor very fun for a significant while. That's why I think something like Divinity: Original Sin is better - the magic system is much better overall while still making you feel god-tier by the end, especially in the first game.
>>41335 >>41334 All great suggestions and i am looking into them. >>41336 I used to be a dungeon master in tabletop rpg and i agree with this statement, i had players spamming disintegrate and some prismatic torrent, my solution was implementing a giant with a sword that disintegrate everything it touches.
Total war campaigns? The grand strategy stuff isn't the greatest but it gives cool context to all your battles, also the are pretty much endlessly replayable until you get bored thanks to mods.
Any recommendations for a fun online multiplayer game that isn't a MOBA or battle royale shit? I'd prefer an FPS but I'm open to other genres as well. Already tried the obvious choices like Counter Strike and TF2 but I'm sick of them.
>>41218 Predynastic Egypt. It's pretty simple and fun, only problem is that the campaign is always on the same map with no randomization so there's very little replayability.
Any games where you come back to base between missions to chill with the boys like MGS5 or ArmA 3? Bonus points if your actions reflect the look of the base.
What are some games that are set in small towns? I would prefer an adventure game without much action like a walking simulator or point and click game but any genre is fine. PC or console or retro console any platform it doesn't matter.
>>42350 Have you played Deadly Premonition? It is often called Twin Peaks the game. Its a horror game but all the actual gameplay is awful. It is still one of my favourite games because of the setting and story.
>>42350 Mizzurna Falls was "Twin Peaks: The Game" before Deadly Premonition came out, sadly it's only in Japanese. Then there is Night In The Woods and Thimbleweed Park (this was straight up marketed as influenced by Twin Peaks), both are set in small towns, have little action and have that kind of gloomy feel, but I can't say they're very good. Also these >>42357
>>42399 Not sure what you're looking for but maybe try EYE: Divine Cybermancy or Shadowrun: Dragonfall
>>42399 I suggest Alien: Isolation. Its a bit of a horror game, I hope you don't mind that too much. The atmosphere in it is amazing, and the style of stuff is very much like what you posted in the image.
The darksiders 1-2 bundle is 5€ on steam now. Should I go for it? Are the games fun? Mostly interested in the second one. I can run games like dark souls 2 and even 3, overwatch etc. on a good day will I be fine with these?
>>42653 I just played and finished both this spring. No they're not "2goth4u zeldas" as the kid said. They draw from a lot of well known games, but they're distinct. I enjoyed them without feeling like I was playing knockoffs. >Are the games fun? They were for me.
Can any one recommend an open world game where loot matters and you're excited to open treasure chests to see how it changes your character's abilities?
>>43414 Torchlight 1 and 2 (made by some of diablo'2 devs), Grim Dawn, Titan Quest, Path Of Exile if you don't mind online stuff (you don't really need to team up with someone but you need to trade to get decent gear).
>>43449 How old? These >>43450, >>43466 are good. I'm not going to give you the obvious titles because you said you played them all. So here's a few titles that are less known.
Bonk’s Adventure and Bonk's Revenge for the GB. Catchy tunes and interesting gliding mechanics. Bonk is quite endearing himself. Both Momotaro Thunderbolt titles, also for the GB are a favorite of mine. Monters are interesting to look at and if you're willing for an extra challenge try not using Bird half the levels. Kid Dracula is one of my favorites, also for the GB. Levels are fun to explore and there's actually quite a challenge in some of them. You mentioned you want cute so Trip World is a must try, though I think you might know that one already. For the SNES you have Melfand Stories, two titles, again, worth checking out if you're looking after cute, but those titles are more arcadey in nature. If you're interested in some platforming with puzzles, Samurai Kid is pretty good. Finally on the Sega side you have Tails Adventure for the Game Gear. I know there are many more titles I can't remember out of the top of my head. I'll post some more. if you liked those.
>>43450 Can't play it on this computer since I killed my gpu, sadly >>43466 I did play it, it's pretty fun, might try to complete it, since I didn't the first time. >>43467 You know, I've ignored the game boy most of my life, some of those I played, like bonk and kid dracula (loved this one). Gonna try Melfand Stories, looks pretty fun. >>43486 Joe and Mac is the shit.
Can someone recommend a game that's pure grind? Preferably single-player, PC-compatible and not mobileshit. Having to make decisions or pay attention to plot details exhausts me, and I want something I can space out to, maybe while listening to music or something.
>>44556 Have you played Unreal (the first one) yet? Or any of the Tribes games (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribes_(series))? There is also Painkiller (which kicks my ass and I haven't actually compleated it) I also unironically liked Duke Nukem forever, mainly because I played it for what it was and had no expectations going in. Not a deep game, more of a modern update on a 90s style fps.
I have heard good things about Borderlands 2 but I haven't played it myself.
If you are looking for something more brainy then the Deus Ex games are great, as well as the portal games. Portal two is probably my favorite puzzle game ever.
And for a mix of brains and action Bioshock is almost a masterpiece. Loved the first, liked the second, thought the third was ok. Kind of hope they don't make anymore.
>>44562 How about rise of the triad or bulletstorm?
Fear is great but you probably played it. Same with Metro. Lets see, something diffrent.
I have been meaning to try Exodemon but I haven't played it yet so I don't know how good it actually is. You could give it a shot as it looks pretty different from most things out there. Oh, there is Dishonored, which I found the stealth to be a bit easy but I guess the game could be really hard if you decided to fight everything head on.
I remember Second Sight and Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy being pretty fun but I think they are both 3rd person.
I also really liked The Darkness and The Darkness 2.
single-player military strategy games, preferably 1914 onwards, and ones suitable for a retard like me I liked Blitzkrieg and Panzer General, but anything of that nature is welcome if there are online-focused ones I won't mind, but so long as there is a singleplayer mode of some sort I'll take it
>>44563 >>44564 >>44579 Thank you, but played them all. I think it's hopeless for me to search for something new. I'll just replay Quake with addon's again.
>>44577 I absolutely love the first 2 Commandos games, although I'm not sure if you could call them 'strategy'. Did you play Sudden Strike? It's kinda like Blitskrieg if I'm not mistaken.
>>44580 Postal 2 is the only FPS I managed to play all the way through without losing interest but you probably already played it. Damn some of the weapons in that game are fun though, I love the machete and the baseball bat. Beating it on the highest difficulty was a pretty entertaining challenge too, it's like a totally different game.
What are your favorite puzzle games wizzies? I've played some of the popular ones like Portal, Talos Principle, and some of the Zachtronics games (which were too hard for me to beat fully, but I'm proud of how far I got anyway). I also played the Layton games up to Last Specter, and Puzzle Agent.
The Talos Principle has my endorsement. I'm a little biased because my favorite subgenre/whatever of sci-fi is sentient AI. The whole backstory to The Talos Principle is absolutely fascinating to me.
>>44599 can confirm the game is most wizardly. The lore concerning the game is also interesting (you need to unlock the bonus levels to fully understand what happened and why you are there) and the computer had some interesting philosophical things to say about alone-ness.
Are there any other games with light social/dating sim elements like the s. links and free time in Persona and Trails of Cold Steel, that also have a similar comfy setting (by which I mean a town/school you can explore)? Seems like the only games I can find that have something similar all have terrible settings and atmosphere or are entirely menu driven VN style in towns.
>>45278 Tokyo Xanadu EX+ is literally a "what if persona and ys had a baby made on the trails of cold steel engine", it's really good and exactly the type of game you're looking for.
3 + 4 are both good, 1 + 2 I've never played but I've heard they're unpolished. Console ones I know nothing about.
There's also Azure Dreams if you don't mind roguelikes. Not much town exploration to do but you can romance the succubi in town and basically build a harem.
Games with a good story and characters? AND/OR Games that have given you a strong emotional reaction?
I finished my 2nd playthrough of Mother 3 a week ago and I can't think of any games I could play next that could match the level of storytelling. I somehow felt very sentimental at the end of the game (which is how I felt at the end of Mother 2 as well), which rarely happens to me.
To give you an idea of the type of games I'm looking for, here's some that I've already played that do it for me: - Chrono Trigger - BioShock - Deus Ex - Half Life 2 - Star Wars KOTOR 1 + 2 - Psychonauts
I would really appreciate it if you could share some titles! Any genres or years are fine, though I have a preference for games that are for PC or for console games that can be emulated on PC.
>>45341 Planescape Torment, Arcanum, Trails in the Sky (only played the first one so far, and it was pretty slow but picks up in the sequel, or so I've heard) Shenmue 1 and 2, although it's a "like it or hate it" kind of deal.
>>45341 >Chrono Trigger Try the other Square rpgs from the 90s, FFVI, FFVII, Vagrant Story, Xenogears, etc. If you liked Bioshock you can't go wrong with System Shock. EYE: Divine Cybermancy it's a amazing and weird rpg/shooter made with Half Life's 2 engine. Pathologic has some of the best writing I've ever seen, really weird and unique game, if you like it you can also try The Void, by the same studio (Icepick lodge). Planescape Torment also has great writing, but you'll have to deal with walls upon walls of text, and stay the hell away from the "sequel". Other games with great plot imo are: Max Payne 1 and 2 (there's a third one but it's way too different); Legacy of Kain games, specially Soul Reaver; Mafia; Silent Hill 1-4.
*anything nintendo, hasn't got to be nintendo necessarily but still preferred *available on the Wii, Wii U, 3DS, or GNU/Linux *fun *can also be a challenge *calming, but excitinig *singleplayer *not shit *something like pikmin *something underrated, or an indie game
>>45486 I was just about to say Mafia as it was the only AAA game like that I have played with a focus on having a ok/good story. Most other stuff I have played about organized crime sort of treated the plot as just a after thought to justify all the game-play.
>>45487 Yeah, as far a video game stories go, it's hard to top Mafia. Especially when so many games are just trying to be gta. >>45488 Love them but already played them.
Gonna try The Getaway which came out the same year as Mafia, I don't think it'll be as good but we'll see.
Any games/mods out there where you can play as a bounty hunter in a compelling story, but not in an Elite Dangerous or free-form space sim way? Stranger's Wrath (one of my absolute favorites) is basically all that comes to mind. There's usually bounty based side quests/missions in a lot of games, like in RDR or a lot of RPGs, but I guess I just want a game where that's the sole focus. Mace Griffin is a game I rented when I was just a kid and I've been meaning to play it at some point to potentially scratch this itch. As an aside, I also really wish Prey 2 had been released somehow.
I have not played many games, but the ones that I have enjoyed most are open world where I can explore and get quests and stuff. For example, Legend of zelda the windwaker was probably my favorite, then star fox adventures and one of the assassin's creed games, skyrim and mass effect 3 were also up there. What are games like this called? Is it an RPG? I have an xbox 360 but only played like 5 games on it so I want to try another one. I want to be able to explore and do quests and make choices that affect the story. Anyone got any suggestions?
>>45603 If you liked Assassins Creed try out the Batman Arkham games, they are the same style of game, oh and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is also good. For something like Skyrim check out the previous Elder Scrolls games (Morrowind and Oblivion) and Fallout 3/New Vegas. For something like Mass Effect try out Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, which was made by the same people. As for Zelda, there are a bunch of them and they're all good imo (the main series at least)
Absolutely nothing beats Fire Pro Wrestling World for PC in pro Wizardly entertainment.
You can play it single player, co op or online if you choose.
Whatever is your personal preference basically.
You can create your own stable of Wizards and take on a faction of normies or crabs ALL of your own design or you can download various edits of other people's creation from the Steam Workshop.
There's almost no limit to the wonderful creations the Wizardly mind can come up with!
Wizards, could you recommend me a game to play while listening to podcasts?
I want to devote most of my attention to what is being said in podcast, so the game can't have dialogue, much of a story, or text that could distract me from that. In other words, it has to be visually entertaining, but mindless in all other accounts.
So far I've been playing Tetrix and SuperTuxKart, but I've grown tired of them. Could you please suggest something?
Many people buy the various Fire Pro games not even to play the games themselves but simply watch and sim the matches because the AI/logic system is so good.
If you are like many Wizards out there you are probably either a fan of anime or comic books or other fantasy literature/characters, etc.
So just saying you can go to the Steam Workshop for Firepro or hell just create your favorite fantasy characters yourself if you want and set them up to fight using logic you expertly program into them and then set up a CPU Vs. CPU match and see who wins.
You can make the ring look however you want to along with the turnbuckles (corner pads) and change the color of the ropes, etc and not only that you can have whatever background music you are willing to download or use from your existing MP3 library for it.
So yeah just pointing out Fire Pro World isn't exclusive to needing to use real life or created wrestlers.
You can literally use or create any kind of character that you want.
When the AI/logic is programmed well enough matches can sometimes go for a long time like say 60 minutes or longer but thats usually a rarity and the in game clock runs a bit fast so the real time when it goes 60 minutes is more like 30 minutes but just saying the game has a lot of fun and intrigue to offer and most important of all vast customizeability.
There's mods out there that can make it even better.
Looking for a singleplayer tank sim, my preference being WW2 era > 2nd gen MBT > 3rd gen MBT > 1st gen MBT > WW1 era >Not Steel Beasts Pro 4.0 as I'm too much of a poorfag for that Steel Beasts (2000) and Steel Armor: Blaze of War look good actually but I've yet to find a working torrent for the former, and the only one I found for the latter has 1 seeder which has given me only 400mb over the course of 13 hours
I played only a handful of games throughout my life, preferring to stick to a few primarily multiplayer games. Most of them lost their playerbase, were patched and changed to hell by the developers or simply became stale to me. I have nothing to play now, I lack clear reference points I can rely on to find games I can potentially like, I don't want to spend money on games and after having accustomed to Steam I feel rather uncomfortable downloading games off smaller/public torrent sites that don't verify their uploads for viruses and other bullshit. I could give emulation a try, I thoroughly enjoyed playing vidya that I missed out on as a kid. To sum it up, I'm looking for a game that: - Isn't demanding in terms of system requirements - Focuses more on action/combat, requires active player input, basically everything that isn't strategy/RPG, I guess; although I did enjoy Mario & Luigi games very much because of the dodging/parrying mechanics. - Isn't set in a Fantasy/Medieval setting - Is relaxing, you can zone out and play - Is atmospheric * Can be from older consoles (4-6 Gen, preferably) * Offers Metroidvania-style free exploration, preferably * Is Singleplayer, preferably I'd also love to hear Torrent sites wizards recommend downloading games from. I'm registered on Playbits, but from what I've gathered the way things are done there is you upload whatever and no verification is done apart from the rating system, so I fear there might be malware, same goes for Piratebay. I'm a complete idiot when it comes to technology, so forgive me if I'm wrong or excessively paranoid.
>>46213 I tried this with The Witcher 3 because that's the way I usually play these games, but the insane loading times in between deaths made the trial and error of learning how to get good way more tiresome than it ought to have been
>>46047 I'll second the recs the other 2 guys gave you.
Monster Hunter is really good and possible to play singe player in most games. World however might not necessarily have as much content until the new DLC comes out in a few months. So you would have to buy the base game + that. Besides that you could try the earlier games that have G rank, Freedom Unite you could easily spend hundreds of hours on. 3U and 4U, also both good. You could try XX on the switch, I am not sure how much content that has since I haven't played it, but I imagine it's similar.
Warriors series is also really good. I've mostly played the Samurai Warriors series. 1 is good but it doesn't have a ton of content and the character/stage variety is pretty limited. 2 and 2XL are the best of the series IMO, good mix of difficulty with character and stage variety. 3 and 4 have more content but they're not as difficult. For Empires I've only played Samurai Warriors Empires 2, it was good but I don't know remember it having that much content. Maybe 3 and 4 have more.
For Dynasty Warriors I've only tried 8XL, but I'd say that definitely has enough to keep you occupied for over 100 hours. The rest of the warriors series I haven't tried.
To a certain degree all these are kind of repetitive, they will involve you hunting the same monsters or playing the same stages again at increasing stages of difficulty to get materials for armor and weapons (in the case of Monster Hunter) or rarer weapons and items (in the case of Warriors games). But if you're okay with that you'll probably like them.
>>46293 Personally I prefer the Empires versions because I'm not stuck with limited number of stages like with Sengoku Basara, I prefer endless placement possibilities to the same historical placements, Xtreme mode from XL expansions and the castle modes were great too oh and the create a warrior (CAW) is quite addicting too (not in SW2E though that game had other things to make it entertaining like the events among historical charas, the formation gimmick and others)
Factorio is pretty good, if you are into that kind of stuff. I'm also building and testing submarines in Barotrauma singleplayer, the original free version, I think it's still on github somewhere.
I'm getting a bit of an itch to play some cRPG but I've always been bad at them and drop them fairly quickly, after a few hours or so. Just wondering if there is a "right" one to start with and maybe I'd need to scum out with a cheesy build for the first time too.
>>46476 for me, I have to be in the mood to put a good amount of time into crpgs, make sure you have a lot of free time and don't have to worry about stuff in real life so you can get immersed and just spend hours slowly going through the world and reading everything
Does anyone here own Grip or Wreckfest? I’m looking for simple yet fun arcade racers with a somewhat active player base. The latest sonic kart game is bad, Crash Team Racing is not available on PC and pretty much everything else I can think of is either too “simcade”, dead, or crap.
What is a relatively short, relatively chill JRPG that is available on PC without emulation. Preferably something that looks good and isn't a rpg maker game.
>>42399 With regard to the retrofuturistic vibe, Observer comes to mind but it is a horror game. Only like 4 hide n seek sections though if I remember right.
I assume that means you found it so boring it managed to make you fall asleep? If so, is that the only thing you enjoyed about it? Well, enjoyment derived dubiously is better than none at all, I suppose. There's quite a few games I'd personally consider to be insomnia cure fuel (most AAA games, 4x games, Dwarf Fortress, Rimworld, Minecraft and others that emulate it, really anything that's free form, aimless, or otherwise without direction, etc.)
I seem to recall getting a few laughs out of these two particular game when I played through them a while back. Adventure games tend to be pretty good sources of humor in general when it comes to gaming.
Older RPGs can also be pretty funny as well in spots. Vampire the Masquerade, as an example, could be downright hilarious at times, largely due to its strong writing and the wacky situations you could find yourself in depending on your class.
Other than that, I don't really know. A lot of the time I find myself laughing while gaming only at things that are inadvertently, or otherwise unintentionally funny. Like really bad voice acting, goofy gameplay quirks, or just random & unplanned chaos/mayhem that might happen in whichever game I'm playing that allows for it.
Looking for a turn-based rpg that is easy to get into and doesn't require tons of meta knowledge to be enjoyable but isn't a cakewalk either, like the Dragon Quest series. The less cutscenes and dialogues the better. I can emulate everything up to and including the PS2.
i was watching ultima 2 i think? from 1993. it was 3d, you could drag items off inventory inti the game and it throws it. actual movement physics with jumping. when you go in water your camera doesnt just headbob, but tilts around, really
anyway ut seemd to have lots of other cool stuff, i plan on playing it sometime
I'm finally getting a PS4 soon and I'm wondering what good jRPGs there are available for the console (FFXV and DQXI I'm already getting for certain), the less action-RPG the better but I understand that action RPG style has grown in favor in RPGs in general. But, any ones that are perhaps a little light on that aspect by comparison to straight up action games with some RPG elements, would be favorable, if you get what I'm saying there.
Also, is the PS4 version of Subnautica decent, does it translate well to being controlled via controller ect? That game has always seemed so cool to me but alas being a poverty NEET with toaster hand me down patch-up PCs I wasn't able to check it out, and getting a gaming PC is still not a current option even if its in the end objectively better.
>>47915 >i was watching ultima 2 i think? You're probably talking about Ultima Underworld, which was pretty ahead of its time in terms of physics and general 3d stuff.
>>45532 Fallout New Vegas has a pretty good bounty hunter mod called, you guess it, New Vegas Bounties. It has decent voice acting and quests and there is a good ammount of content, and it's free, you only need to own the game or pirate it.
>>47923 Maybe it's not quite what you're looking for but Blood Omen always reminded me of Diablo for some reason, even more so than Diablo II. >>47909 Have you ever played Phantasy Star on Genesis? It tends to be overlooked because genesis wasn't an RPG console but they great, my favorite is 4, really cool monster design.
>>47933 cheers im going to download it too, amazingly i had both games in the back of my mind (lufia 2 and phantasy star IV) when asking for games to play.
>>48667 >what kind of games do you like? Just about everything other the RTS games and really old text based adventure games.
I don't mind grinding if I actually like the gameplay, but if the gameplay it's self isn't fun then grinding only compounds that. It is the reason why I dropped games like cult simulator and certain Korean f2p mmos in the late 00s. But if I like the gameplay then I can spend months grinding away at a game I like. Also every game that isn't super short tends to be "somewhat repetitive", which isn't usually a bad thing as long as the gameplay is good or there is enough content to justify the added length.
To say what I don't want is something like most idle clicker games would be bad. That would be all grind, no gameplay, and hyper repetitive with no content to justify it other then watching numbers go up. I also wouldn't want to play a rts as a easy chill out game, since playing those feels like doing homework to me back in my school boy days. Not a feel I would like to repeat in my down time. And I just don't like most old school text based adventure games because they are just shit imo.
Anything else that counts as a easy chill game is something I would at the very least be willing to try.
ok what the hell, am I missing something or is there no explanation for what the skills do in Phantasy Star IV? some I figured out by trying them in battle, others I am still clueless what their purpose is.
it's driving me insane, at first I thought it was a problem with the emulator (retroarch - genesis plus gx) or my gamepad but it doesnt appear to be the case.
>>48664 Check out Refunct. Super comfy and chill, nice aesthetic, available on everything and is very inexpensive. Good de-stress experience. There's not a lot to it but just enough.
>>48669 >Dragon Quest Builders 2 That looks like minecraft with a dragon quest game stapled on. Probably not my cup of tea. Nothing wrong with the game, just two things that I was never in to combined doesn't seem appealing to me.
Games where you're an insignificant character and not the focus of the game, struggling to get by? I especially like the idea of having like a little hideout where you can hide and plan your next move.
I liked Realm of the Mad God, it's a rough-like bullet hell game and F2P and also I just got Grim dawn, it's a Diabolo Like Game.I furthermore recommend to get 3Month of Xbox game Pass for 1$ so you can try it out. They have a lot of Games there as well.
Any third person fantasy/medieval PC game with good immersive universe, well paced and a good story? I don't want talking simulators. My PC is a 6yo toaster and can't support DX10 or more.
>>42675 vague >crystalis >the final fantasy games (not that II will play) >the megaman games >mother >super mario 3 >doki doki panic and or mario 2 >zelda 1 & 2 and zelda hacks >metroid and metroid hacks >shadowgate >deja vu >street fighter games >arcade games such as sinistar and pinball >wizards and wariors >dragon's lair >ninja gaiden games >tetris >pinball
These are the games I recall having in my collection. I honestly have hacks just to tell myself "hey I'll play that some day" and have not yet because I suck at beating nes games as it is without trying a rehashed version.
I wonder what the best homebrew one is? I bet there's something I don't know about. I only just realized Crystalis existed a couple days ago and I'm 30. It's so new. OH, I forgot >kirby
>>43449 Did you play Megamari and Super Marisa land (or new super marisaland)? They have lots of Touhou fan made games. I'm sure you've done Eternal Daughter and Cavestory already.
>>45346 >>45341 They did have a lot of nice JRPG games the PSX did. I'm a bum or I'd have a collection of them. I have a magnet link for when I get real Internet access to download like 10 or so PSX games. As it is I'd not have the space to back them up so I don't bother to download ISO files. Plus I got mad when I realized that bin/cue is harder to find but is better for the Linux route of emulation. Lakka wanted bin not iso nor img.
>>45341 If you liked Chrono Trigger I'd think you'd like Golden Sun 1/2/3. It's of my favorites. It's no Final Fantasy 7 though, but the music makes it nice. Out of all RPGs I played Chrono got the music element and Golden Sun got that too, Final Fantasy 7 was the only one to actually make me truly FEEL. FF7 ruined me for other games.
>>45513 I'd help but I'm no pleb. They say Terraria or however that's spelled, my sources do. I have no idea beyond normalfaggot gossip though. Never touching steam. there are other games though but I forget them all. The T one gets spammed online a ton though.
>>46215 You have linux? Emulators for ya then. Lakka wants bin/cue though, don't collect ISO/IMG for PSX.
>>39597 Also, Wine can emulate windows applications they say, but if you're poor I guess it won't work without overkill on hardware.
>>39830 Im playing the first one and it’s pretty nice, but I’ve reached a point (5-7hrs in) where the characters won’t stop talking, there are cutscenes every couple minutes and the game doesnt really open up yet. I don’t care much about the story so it’s starting to annoy me a bit.
I have no idea what to play next. Help I want a third person single player game with good story and preferably not RPG I have a toaster PC (Win 7, 1GB VGA, dx 9.0c)
>>39597 I am looking for something that *evokes the feeling of a comfy adventure like the first two pokemon games *Not too much combat *hand crafted, not random generation
>>51154 Dragon warrior monsters for gbc Final fantasy adventure 1-3 (I think these games go by a couple different names iirc) Super mario land 2: 7 coins Pokemon jade (a bootleg pokemon game thats just a modified and translated version of a popular jap game series that i forget the name of) pokemon romhacks like rocket version, original diamond version, crystal clear version etc gb/gbc zelda games dbz game for gba attack of the sayins i think its called, the rpg one thats about all i can think of off the top of my head. dragon warrior monsters i think youll really enjoy. the rest i think youll like too
I want a game where you go on an adventure. Something like Demon's souls (not the gameplay meme like all the souls knock offs) the sense of adventure. Can be 3D or 2D. Can't be a rogue like. No dialog wheels or endless cut scenes.
>>51241 When I played Gothic 2 I always felt like I was going on an adventure, it has some dialogue though, but it's worth it in my opinion. Other than that, I don't know, Zelda?
Im looking for something similar to Bully. By that i mean a comfy, non serious/dark, stress free game. My favorite part of bully is the nerd missions and the comic shop save point. So maybe something in that vain? Obviously theres gta, yakuza, saints row etc but those are too serious, im looking for something light hearted like bully.
>>51356 Thats a great rec and exactly the type of game im looking for, but ive beat it twice already unfortunately. I should’ve mentioned in my first post my available gaming platforms are xbox one, and a crappy laptop. So im pretty limited unfortunately
>>51355 Akiba's Trip maybe if you don't mind the otaku subculture stuff. I have never played any of the games in the series though so I don't know what they're worth.
for anyone reading right now don't listen to >>40331, if you're on PC play yakuza 0 and then yakuza kiwami.
>>40399 >>40395 saya no uta is a comfy VN, by the same person who made madoka magica, never watched it but saya no uta is a very interesting game that had me thinking about the story a while after I finished it
with regards to games I would recommend, I had fun playing VA-11-HALL-A and a lot of fun playing the original dark souls a few years back, don't waste your money on the remaster it looks worse in some bits.
>>41717 the games I had most fun on co op was factorio though I would have had as much fun playing it on single player.
if you like factorio try zachtronics games or getting into CS/discrete mathematics.
I would like to get into arcanum or underrail but am too low IQ for either, whenever I tried to ask for help about them online I was responded with "fuck off troll" I dunno if the community is schizophrenic or if I am that retarded.
This is my 3rd time on /games/. I've never been so into it. just had a xbox almost 9 years ago I'm looking for a lightweight RPG that can run on my crappy low-spec machine. seriously, my PC barely can run Minecraft
>>51583 I know this is an old post but Arcanum isn't hard. If you want an easy time with combat on your first playthrough invest into magic and get the spell Harm asap. Boring, but it gets the job done.
Does anyone know a game where you can take care of different animals? Feed them, pet, taking for a walk. Genre doesn't matter. Maybe a mod for something. I would be very grateful.
>>55854 Nintendogs+cats is the obvious choice, but you gotta have DS\3DS or be ready to emulate (not worth it imho, the magic won't transmit)
Other than that, many JRPG-like farm simulators have similar mechanics. I have fond memories of animals in Stardew Valley and in My Times at Portia; in Portia there are quests to adopt strays, and you have to become their friend through constant care and affection signs. You can also take care of an NPC's pig occasionally if you get friendly with him. Horses are also befriended, though I don't remember whether it affects anything.

>*single player .*not normalfaggish >*comfy >*immersive >*timekilling The new MS Flight Sim is a visual spectacle and an absolute timesink if you're doing long haul flights. It's one of the few games to coe out in recent years where you can have fun just by marveling t what they've done with the graphics.
I've been looking for a game that has really enjoyable magic combat and doesn't rely heavily on using swords, bows, etc. Closest game I have played that fits this is Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, but the spells are used supplementary to the sword combat than as actual attacks.
>>39821 What the fuck it's already been 4 years since I made this post - I was gonna come in here and say FTL but I already wrote it. I'll make one amendment, ignore Captains Edition, Multiverse is the superior modpack.
I want a good action adventure on PC that lasts 8-10 hours. Can be shooting, melee, whatever. Think games like Tomb Raider reboots (but not shit), Devil May cry, Halo campaigns or Doom 3 . A self contained adventure that doesn't waste your time with padding or grinding to unlock stuff or THE TRUE ENDING.
I recently got into No Mans Sky and spent a shitload of time playing it, it's actually a good game now and the huge space universe stuff feels nice.
>>39601 This might sound lame but Euro Truck and American Truck Simulator with proper equipment (wheel, shift knob, pedals, I recommend logitech g27/g29) feels very realistic and its also relaxing. There are also plenty of other driving sims such as BeamNG that are really good with the right equipment.
>>44554 Necrovision Requiem: Avenging Angel Shogo Ziggurat Immortal Redneck Devil Daggers Post Void DESYNC All Day Dying Alien Rage Carnal Alien Vs Predator Project Downfall
These more niche games range from rancid shit to masterpiece tier, surely you haven't played them all though. Now give me some niche FPS games in return.
