It's not particularly original, or sci-fi, but I've been enjoying Satanophany.
It's like a modern Agent Aika in that it has lots of action and panty shots. And it doesn't have that annoying overly cute overly humorous tone of modern manga/anime.
Although it's 10x more violent than Agent Aika.
Much of the violence is perpetrated against females to the point that it could be considered ryona genre.

the only manga that i read that appealed to me was sekai oni it had great character design for the monsters as well good lore and king was super evil
