i think psychiatry is kind of a load of shit and dont really care for it anymore because of the fact that i can take an online test for a mental illness and theres a 70% chance it will say i definitely have it and to see a doctor. the retard doctors just give you the same online quiz, so the people who are against self-diagnosis dont know whats up. the psychiatrists and therapists asked like 9 questions and now OCD is in my permanent record. and that's somehow more verified and "real" then just reading a wikipedia article? you're a faggot.

I got two chronic and permanent psychiatric diagnoses at 22, I started displaying odd behavior since I was in primary school.

I accept that I'm not a normal person, that I have a condition and that stabilizing/monitoring it should be my #1 priority, otherwise I lose functionality. I also invested time in trying meds, and I take two meds, regular doses.

Additionally, I exercise and eat relatively healthy. Both things significantly help stabilizing my symptoms.

>>203890
>depressed all the time and they diagnose you with anxiety and depression
One thing is a psychiatrist telling you you have X symptoms. It's completely different when you're given a diagnosis recognized by the DSM (or whatever). Being anxious is not the same as GAD, for example. Being depressed is not the same as having major depression (and to what extent? episodic or recurring?).

To be honest, if a doctor doesn't give you an official diagnosis over an extended period of time, more than likely your symptoms aren't severe enough.

Then you don't really have anything. It's not gatekeeping. I am a severe patient, I am diagnosed, I sometimes need accommodations. You're not diagnosed, you very likely don't need special accommodations (i.e. like in a work environment).

Psychiatry is not perfect, but the way modern psychiatry deals with crisis management or stabilizing acute symptoms with meds definitely helps lots of patients.

Again, you won't understand what I'm saying if you don't deal with recurrent crises or severe symptoms. Experiencing psychotic breaks, mania, wild mood swings, heavy dissociation (and other similar symptoms) can be extremely upsetting, painful and traumatic (specially when you're surrounded by hostile normgroids that act on impulse like animals). There's no shame in taking a pill to prevent or mitigate those things from happening.

Nothing but classic ASD1.
It's a funny thing to be diagnosed with because it's not that hard to spot but figuring out what it entails is a complicated nightmare.
You can draw the maps and bring in the specialists, but conceptually layering all of them into something coherent and then actively applying this to your day-to-day is a slow process.
That is to say, it's not different at all from just being a normal person and trying to figure out how and why your brain does what it does. The only reason I have to spend more time with this dumb shit is because if I don't I suffer at the hands of incompatibility issues. Other people get to auto-pilot most of the time and so mainly exist immersed in support networks like physical suffering and social drama. Diagnosis itself is a luxury for the wealthy, not just financially but as a show of familial responsibility and government charity. It's the best way to go if you are willing to take any help you can get, the only cost is some vague pride at being branded dysfunctional and having to set a few boundaries so you dodge the pill-pushing. That's a really low cost for free money and support from kind people in my opinion. I don't have the ability to live alone anyway.

I'd been telling my 7cupsoftea therapist that I was hearing voices inside my head telling me to kill myself and others and so she ended up contacting my local authorities who then sent the police over to my apartment. The police placed handcuffs on me and took me to the nearest police station where they kept me in a cell by myself for about half an hour. They then took me to a hospital where I was kept overnight before being taken to another hospital where I was kept in a room with a roommate for 72 hours. They forcefully medicated me with Abilify. They had me speak with two psychiatrists and a therapist. I spoke to all three individually. I spoke with each one only once, for perhaps for something like 10 to 30 minutes or so. All three asked me the same questions.

its self evident that psychology is bullshit. Think. As medical science has progressed millions have been saved from otherwise life ending or life ruining diseases. Since the founding of psychology people have only become more mentally ill. Psychology is an irrelevant study like alchemy. Psychotherapy's treatments are as retarded as things like bloodletting or cracking a hole in the skull to release the sick demons. they look at dopamine and serotonin in the same way doctors used to look at black and yellow bile, thinking they were super vital and that it was in imbalance of those two along with blood and phlem that caused all sickness.

the worst thing i don't like about psychology is that it take basic aspects of the human condition and treats them like they are some abnormality and not just the product of having a mundane, shitty life. all througout human history life was full of toil and misery. Nobody saw it as a 'mental illness' because it was self evident that it was because of their shitty living situation. In that regard people had more basic sense than they do now. If psychology was worth its salt it would have cured depression and anxiety like how medicine got rid of polio and other fucked up diseases that aren't a problem anymore.
