 No.213611

The holidays are coming up, it can be the worst period of the year, or just another day for some. I'd like to put up a thread for those to vent, and for those to possible commune via penpals if necessary to get us over some of the torment of the holiday period. It doesn't have to be a sordid, crushingly lonely holiday.

What will you be doing over Christmas?
Gift discussion?
Will you be participating?
Fond Christmas memories?
Christmas survival strategies for the wiz?
What's your favourite thing to do this time of year?
Discuss.

1. I will be curating my new library of 3D print files and selecting what to build/paint next
2. I bought myself some new socks
3. Pondering what specific meat to enjoy, split between lamb or shrimp
4. 2021 When I got to call up my then boss in the current rotation to report a legitimate out of hours emergency and also tell him I quit (got a job offer on the 24th); making the disastrous work project situation affect him and his noisy family in the background
5. Lots and lots of milk - Vitamin D deficiency (and dehydration) is a thing in the winter months and makes life more difficult than it has to be
6. I really like walking in snow, or on freshly fallen snow in sunshine - with a good sound track

 No.213718

I eventually have to buy cards and go to the post office to send to family.

Other then that it's just contemplating what I want to give myself.
Probably will just buy some games on steam on sell.

It's no single person, just a "vibe" around the holidays. You'll notice it in movies, series, songs, the looks from people if you happen to tell them you plan on being alone etc. The messaging is that there's something sad about being alone during this period. Something about the short winter days, coldness, hectic busyness of this period that adds to it. There's a reason suicides increase during the holidays.

I suppose those people havent discovered the internet yet. You dont have to be lonely, you can watch a stream or sth or talk in chatrooms. Those times depicted movies are over now. Although I speak as someone who still lives with his mom so maybe being alone can cause some bad feelings. But good damn why do you care about this normie holidays so much? IT HAS LOST ALL MEANING ALREADY.

>The messaging is that there's something sad about being alone during this period. Something about the short winter days, coldness, hectic busyness of this period that adds to it. There's a reason suicides increase during the holidays.

Christmas since the first time it was celebrated was about coming together as a family, to show appreciation for oneanother and reflect on how those who are close to you have helped you this year, and to thank them for their efforts with gift, food, and song. A celebration of your life and those who made it better. The birth of Christ celebrated as a birthday for all who he loves. To be alone on this day is to admit that either you have nobody who has done well to you in this year, or that you merely don't appreciate their efforts. A wizard who has maintained an appreciative attitude for other welldoing humans in general would be right to reflect upon his lonesome and feel sorrow for the former admittance and remorse for the latter.

It was never painted as a holiday of solitude, and the materialistic nature of its modern festivities are good to avoid indulging in, but a man who appreciates his loneliness in general has a lot of opportunity to reflect on how his life may be better is he had a family and friends to accompany him every now and then. A family to rely on and to provide for, friends to blow off steam with… Such a season of social festivities confined within the warmth of a home inspires a lot of reflection and introspection for a cold homely man.

These feelings of loneliness can chill the heart of a man who's experienced the warmth of the classic family Christmas gathering. Someone who despite not having anyone he'd care to spend time with today, can understand the value of being in the company of those who love him for who he is. A man who knows the value of making a friend smile with a gift, even if it's just a card made from construction paper and crayons. As bad as his outlook on his life as an adult may be, he knows just how good it could be if he never strayed from the family circle. If those in the circle hadn't passed away. He knows he could feel that joy again as an adult if he had kids of his own, but that's just not in the cards right now.

It's why threads like these are so important. We can't fill in for eachother's relatives, school chums, or the nice old ladies at church. We can however offer words of kindness, and share in memories and ideas that may make other lonely guys smile a bit. A Christmas card via satellite. These posts may be the closest thing any of us ever get to hug and a gift on Christmas morning. Far from the best but still better than nothing. Merry Christmas wizards. It's OK to feel lonely.

These are the worst christmas I can recall so far, I have no friends, the only so called 'friends' I collected from highschool I went in bad terms as there was a never link due to them being all normalfaggots - their likings always seemed stupid to me and they were all retards and my family whom I cannot stand for one more single day is disrupted as ever due to my grandpa dying and all there is left are grumpy old succubi that drive my father like crazy, meaning I have to tolerate their bullshit more than ever - they usually get even with me, not dealing with the fact that I don't like going out with the rest of the normalfaggots which I know them all since it's a small town I live in. I'm quasi-obligated to go out and I don't want to. Fuck.

Merry Christmas /wiz/. I like Christmas, I still enjoy the comfy, I'm on okay terms with my family, and I look forward to the dinner.

>Christmas survival strategies for the wiz?

I find its the small things that are the most manageable and best about Christmas rather than any big extravagant things, I send a card instead of going in person, any gatherings are kept small and quick, I appreciate gifts like socks, that it's okay to just sit in silence with family and enjoy eachother's company watching a movie instead of having to talk or play games.

I always disliked christmas. I never enjoyed having to fake positive emotional reactions to receiving gifts, it gave me anxiety. Then once I got old enough to have to give gifts as well as receive them, it gave me way more anxiety. Now things have become somewhat better because we have mostly done away with presents. They are more considered optional so if I don't buy something for people it will be fine although I will still feel guilty as shit. This year I am going to give people cookies. We are visiting my grandparents a couple days after christmas so that is when I have to have them ready by. I procrastinated like a moron so today and tomorrow will be spent making a lot of cookies.

>Fond Christmas memories?
Christmas of 1999. Pokeman Snap. Oh, baby. Most memorable Christmas of my childhood, but also one of the worst years of my childhood.

Calling the enjoyment of 2DQT "female worship" is like calling someone who likes cars a "horse obsessed beastophile". 2D were made to be better than 3D and there's really no comparison. You have a small amygdala and neofrontal cortex if you dislike 2DQT.

i find people enjoying anime past the age of 30 severly worrying. you are watching shallow escapist media with ideas taken from books and severely dumbed down. better go straight to the source.

 No.214049

>>214047
2D really is just idealized female traits so your comparison is not apt at all. Cars are not idealized horses. Someone who enjoys racing video games but hates driving in real life would be a closer analogy. Regardless, he's right, it's a form of female worship, but an idealized femininity at that. There really is no room for argument there, it is what it is.

That said, it doesn't matter what you like. This whole 'wizard path' is just nonsense anyway, you can be an otaku, it's fine. Nobody gives a shit, rather, nobody should give a shit. It's a nonissue.

>>214048
As a person who have read books, watched anime and overindulged in every type of entertainment media under the sun, I can confidently say at the end of the day it really doesn't matter at all. You can read Dostoevsky or watch Ichigo Mashimaro it doesn't fucking matter either way as long as you're enjoying yourself. I have enjoyed myself doing both. They're different things with different qualities to them.

I explained to him it was just a joke gag like NORAD tracking Santa. But he said "robberies happen".

Finally I googled it and when it was all over I said "well someone has to believe it, like the kids"

Imageboards are japanese in origin and this place exists because of otaku culture, this place specifically especially since the "wizard" meme originates from japanese imageboards.
If you're going to be a larping newfag atleast bother doing some minimal research, if you haven't noticed imageboards have the word "chan" in their names, so if you're anti-anime you should fuck off back to wherever you came from, although such a rational decision is probably too much to ask for from an illiterate normalfag. So much for "books and studies".

Modern otakus worship not just 2d succubi but cosplayers it's part of the culture, take pics with 3dpds at anime conventions, etc. the biggest simps are the otaku after all and they care about fulfilling their ugly selfish needs rather than being honest wizards.
