What is it that makes them attract such a particular kind of man and allow them to spread the messages they do? How have certain images, cultures, rationale, and atmospheres come to be synonymous with them? Have they been beneficial to you, advantageous, or ruinous? This is wizchan after all, among the final frontiers of this kind, so anyone here has probably experienced a tremendous share of imageboards of all kind everywhere, becoming a veteran of sort.
no need to be consistent i guess no need for a constant identity, a personality, just let the thoughts flow allow yourself to be self-contradicting at times
>>222521 >What is it that makes them attract such a particular kind of man and allow them to spread the messages they do? The anonynimity is a big factor. Unlike most other places, there is no social capital to be gained, no identity or reputation to build, so people don't use them for the same reasons they use the non-anonymous platforms, and they draw a different crowd because of that. >How have certain images, cultures, rationale, and atmospheres come to be synonymous with them? They appeared just at the right time on the internet to take root and foster a specific culture. I'm sure if 4chan had opened in 2009 instead, it would have never achieved the same level of peculiarity in people's eyes. And there is also the whole japan/otaku influence they still carry, which made them a bit odd from the start, but nowadays I don't think that's a major factor. >Have they been beneficial to you, advantageous, or ruinous? Little bit of both. Probably made me too desensitized to certain things, but there are pros and cons to that.
>>222524 This. Particularly the focus on message only at the expense of username and status circlejerks strongly appeals to spectrum people.
That's why full neurotypicals generally hate and despise imageboards. To them it's very important to see how many people up/downvoted you, who shared your post, how many followers or subscribers you have.
Your value as a contributor to neurotypicals comes from those status factors. The content of your message itself is pretty irrelevant to them as long as you don't go full Ww2 nazi on the readers.
>Inb4 someone redditspaces about how imageboards are for AUTISTS, who can enjoy them because they're better than FILTHY STATUS-DRIVEN PLEB NEUROTYPICALS
The best thing about imageboards might perhaps be the worst thing about them, and this is when anonymous posters veer into tangents -like above- , which sometimes will have nothing to do with the subject matter. So a thread about spring anime 2025 will become a thread on the politics of Prussia, and a subject on car engines will become a thread on how the connection in Yotsuba and Azumanga was always apparent. I now patiently wait for this thread to become a thread on Touhou.
>>222538 I am 100% a virgin of the purest, handholdless kind. I just wanted to get this >>222526 autist in denial to admit to remembering shitting his pants. Whenever autism is mentioned, he keeps repeating that no one here is autistic, and that "real" autistic people are drooling retards. In one thread he said that autists have a thing for shitting their pants, and ironically, he admitted to it. If anything, he is the normalfag for caring so much about not being labeled autistic, on an anonymous imageboard where identities don't matter.
Come on buddy, admit that there must be something very different about a man, for him not to end up having sex one way or another. That's a sign of significant neurodivergence.
Asynchronous and Anonymous. Not pseudonymous like reddit and forums. What other communication platforms are there that share these two characteristics? I am unable to think of anything. Those two characteristics reduce anxiety and allow people to post in a more truthful way.
Additionally, no upvoting means that unpopular opinions are not emotionally punished as much, and unpopular posts not made less visible. Actually an unpopular post could get even more responses and reactions, so they can generate more reward chemicals in the brain. Platforms with upvoting train people to write what is popular, in a very strong way.
As a result of LLMs and more sophisticated spam attacks this type of communication will only become more and more rare
I like the anonymous nature of image boards opposed to forums. Also, the static nature is comforting, there are no instant replies or notifications or anything awful from the modern internet. I would prefer image boards to be without images (which is ironic) and only text-based, but text boards are irrelevant now.
>>222552 Newsgroups became irrelevant because an imageboard is superior. There is the rare occassion where a visual point alongside the text is necessary and can't be reliably communicated in text only.
Of course hyperneurotypicals go even further and want to get rid of both, and just want to see someone saying their point in-person (which is why Tiktok has a billion users).
Also, normies are generally appearance over substance. They will only believe someone if they are beautiful/handsome or if the background of the short Tiktok video looks like they are wealthy. Ugly people get little to no views and shares even if they have correct information and the "influencer" spews pseudoscience.
Imageboards do not have usernames, user statuses, downvotes, upvotes, follower counts, view counts, they don't grant any automatic advantage to good looking or rich people, and each post is purely about conveying a point. In essence, they are completely incompatible with the normie world and their psychological mechanisms.
>>222764 >memes died probably some Time after Trump got elected There's just nothing funny about today's memes. People post the most retarded out-of-context shit and expect that you understand the jokes they're trying to convey, even if there's nothing funny to them.
>>222521 >What is it that makes them attract such a particular kind of man and allow them to spread the messages they do? Alot of imageboards, with a few exceptions, allow its users to speak their minds without needing an account to do so. With an account, there is history, creates egos, and worst of all, worshipers. With imageboards, everything has equal footing and only by the post's merits are measured towards attention. Everyone here assumes that I'm a virgin because everyone else is assumed to be a virgin. If someone else claims to be something else, its either considered bait or attention-whoring. Imageboards weeds out the egos and let the intellect, the uncomfortable, and otherwise out of the norm posts to rise without using a system to boost such. It legit creates a "safe space" for everyone without actually making rules of what is acceptable opinion. You are always in fear of steping on someone else's toes with a lot of other sites, but imageboards allows such a degree of freedom to speak one's mind without consequence that it creates an environment for many different groups, autist especially, to forgo their masks and let loose. /8pol/ and /v/ are good examples of this when 8chan was still up, and to a lesser extent 8chan.moe. > TLDR Read the post you faggot.
>>222904 Rarely holds up in 2025 anymore because a massive amount of people, even oldschool geeks have switched to a powerful android or ios device as their main computer.
>>222928 PC's are close to perfection, and I type this message on a PC. But I understand less and less people will buy tower PC's or laptops until we become a 0,1% minority.
>>222922 It definitely does. Just a few months ago I found myself with a reddit post that amazed me in the extent to which I could figure out the people posting comments were phoneposters. It was some post about some rappers, iirc, which is bad enough, but the comments were another thing entirely. They were all a few words long and most had emojis in them. It was bonkers. Phoneposters and phone-first websites/platforms will be the lowest common denominator (hell, they already are) for the coming generations. The way I see it, something similar to what happened with regards to software will happen: Most users will be relegated to using programs that abstract away all the nasty details, leaving them without knowledge of the device they're using. This is something that's already seen with millennial teachers complaining about their zoomer and gen-alpha students not knowing how to operate a filesystem. This rising trend of computer illiteracy, coupled with more thirdworlders entering the internet than ever could destroy most "elite" discussion spaces around. Of course, the argument can be done about computer internals and other power-user things do not need to be known that much by the population at large, and "this is actually a good thing (tm)", but it's pretty evident that without the superior ergonomics for text production a keyboard presents text discussion along the internet WILL suffer. Furthermore, a counter-argument can be done that without future programmers being familiar with the internals of their devices from the get-go their future know-how acquisition will be more tedious, as they have to play catch up with about fifty years of software development that were completely abstracted away. Even worse if vibecoding catches on. In the end, it's an enshittification on three levels: software UI (abstracting internals and forcing users into a playpen where becoming a power user becomes harder), hardware ergonomics (ditching away physical keyboards and incetivising most users to use a "smartphone", dictation software and autocorrect that doesn't penalize mistakes - which carries over the perverse incentives to the very art of knowing how to write, since "you don't need to know that") and hardware itself (as a cellphone won't ever be close to the power a desktop PC can offer). Maybe I come across as some kind of neo-luddite, and in truth I might be, but this trend on consumer electronics fucking sucks. I definitely want more people on the Internet and I truly think that it can be the beautiful thing it showed it could become in the 90s and early 00s. It was that confluence of millions of people becoming connected what made it great. But I really want all those people coming online to be effortposters. Maybe it also has to do with the "content" idea, where you don't pay to publish your stuff on the internet but instead get paid for that, all traceable to adtech. That fucked the internet by A LOT, and it exploded around 2015 I remember. At some point people were talking about the "web obesity" before provider speeds caught up, where websites were so filled with tracking and such that it really fucked with client-side rendering. Of course, nothing changed since then, but these things became less annoying by virtue of improved connectivity and CPUs and such kind of plateauing, so it was less visible.
>>223402 I'm sure people will stop typing even on the smartphone, and speak to it instead. They will become actually illiterate since reading and writing will be deemed "slow" and "outdated" compared to listening and speaking. They'll wear the goy muzzle so that others can't hear them, and the goy goggles so they never have to take their eyes off a screen. But these are just stop gaps before man-machine integration in the form of a neural implant. Then they will completely lose the ability to articulate their thoughts, and instead rely on the machine to interpret and communicate their intentions. A hundred years from now, you wouldn't be able to speak with anyone. Without their devices, people will be worse than cavemen, like maggots or infants shrieking for their computer mom to take care of their needs.
>>223402 There wont be imageboards and forums in 2050. It will be image macros and 10 second videos to which you can only react to with the ten most popular emojis.
Every 60 seconds there will be a 5 second ad for hamburgers, soda or a mobile gacha game.
The average IQ of the userbase will be 72. More than half the content will be someone making toilet jokes, falling down, being punched or cursing.
Even this place will be just a distant memory in the back of your mind as you start dying of old age and witness the extreme enshittification of the world. You say to yourself: "Good riddance."
>>223408 Tbh, it's already happening, don't need to wait another twenty years or so. I already see younger generations like that, and honestly? Let them. I hope they get trapped in their phone prisons. I hope their brains get fried form constant short form content and they get even more isolated. Norgroids did something similar to poor wizzies, now let their children suffer. I already know a few stereotypical IPad kids. They are fucking crazy. They are loud, irratible and slow. Some of them can't even study and their drop out of studying in fucling middle grade. Bleak. But then again, why should I care?
i can't believe you idiot "phoneposter" screechers are on here.
I explained this to your shitposting kind on 4chin.
I used a pc to post on 4chin for most of its early period. Then when one of the iterations of 4chin went down and back up, i switched to an ipad. I felt it was more safe to browse on one than attaching my browsing to my pc (proven correct countless times) Biggest issue i had with posting is Apples autocorrect, suggestion etc. It continually fucked up my posts, i even caught it stealthily doing before i hit post. I started to suspect it was deliberate because i posted in pol. So i switched off all auto correct and spell checker functionality. Posts were more consistently readable bit with occasional error. So no im doing this all by memory and hand.
>>223407 >I'm sure people will stop typing even on the smartphone, and speak to it instead This sorcery already exists. I've seen it. I've only encountered it once, but given how seldom I leave the house it's probably all over the place by now. I was chatting to someone - years ago now - and I was confused as to why their text was so weird and raw. They explained to me that they were talking to their computer, and by some process, it directly outputted what they were saying as text. Imagine, to sit at a computer with a keyboard in front of you, and yet to never type. Imagine feeling such a desire to flap your lips that you must do it even when alone! Regarding phone posting - there is a dedication displayed I think in setting up a space soley for the purpose of using your computer for non-work purposes. Most normgroids don't even own a computer outside of for work, and would see no reason to sit there for hours at a time. Only a certain crowd is happy to do such a thing and this crowd does not include those who mindlessly scroll away on an easy to use smartphone.
>>223428 reminds me when norpers always want to go on voice chat in games like WoW bro you got a keyboard right infront of u just take 1 second to type something like Q1 to let everyone where you are standing instead of needing to get everyone on voice and coordinated like it's some eSports stuff
>>223411 Hitting normie levels of "well, the average can't be like X, if me, an outlier who is so smart, is like Y". The guy said that phoneposters are likely to be shitposters. Not that you, specifically, are a shitposter. Albeit needing to use an ipad because it "feels safe"… not beating the allegations.
>>223411 They are right, most phoneposters are normalfags. And its easier to use physical keyboard than virtual smartphone one, so in turn its phones are not very suitable for writing good posts.
>>223428 Yeah, it exists and is commonplace. A friend who owns an iphone uses it all the time. I heard that android has something like that but haven't seen it in action.
>>223443 Anonymous is the superior form of communication for two reasons. The message is detached from the identity of the poster, so it is viewed more objectively and regardless of the receiver's bias towards the poster. And the poster himself cannot gain any reputation, so his post should be more objective and impersonal. Normies don't get it though, and you can tell who's a normie by how they take things personally and get insulted. Anonymity is about the message, not the messenger, and so it should prioritize truth over drama.
Social media capitalize on people's egos and their craving for reputation and attention.
>>223480 You listed all the reasons why imageboards do not work in neurotypical normie society.
There it matters more who says something, rather than what was said.
It is all about primitive, animal-like cliques, ingroups and outgroups. Likes, upvotes, downvotes, canceling, social shaming, et cetera.
Neurotypicals don't care about the content of your message. They just want to suck up to certain people and denigrate others. It's ingrained deep into their psyche.
>>223482 Because normalfags care what you think, and will try to change your imageboards until you don't feel welcome enough to post. "Just stop caring" doesn't mean "Let people who hate you ruin the places that were made fopr you"
hope you realise the anti-phoneposter tard on here is a /qa/ fag. >he thinks tablets are a phone >"you can do calls on a phone or tablet" you can do them on a pc too, this is just autism and not the good kind. One mentally ill retard has been spreading this dogshit nonsense meme for years from /qa/. In reality look at all the anti-phoneposter posts itt just low effort low iq trolling. The truth is there is no phoneposters. Its just some paranoid schizophrenics excuse to shitpost and troll over posters he doesn't like.
>>223493 No "he's" not you dense idiot. You're not being stalked by some single dude from some old 4chan board who's been bullying you specifically for using a phone. Wizchan users have been mocking "phoneposters" since 2013 because of the phenomenon of normalfags who only access the internet through a smartphone. A shut-in, techno-centric male space would naturally consist only of guys who had their own custom computers, so when someone announced or alluded to posting from a phone or tablet it would be right to assume that they are outsiders - busybodies with active lifestyles beyond the confines of their mom's basement.
If you post with a phone, you're a phoneposter. You are being laughed at for not having a computer and settling for a rinky-dink little spyware box that you probably also have Tinder installed on. There were thousands before you,. and there will be many more in the future.
>>223495 You are the idiot, your anti-phoneposting garbage doesn't make sense. No one said anything about stalking, just you are the exact same schizophrenic from /qa/
you can dismiss the anti-phoneposter cretin and everything he says, Hes some brain damaged autist that demands all posters sit at a CRT monitor with a mouse and keyboard in their chair to post as if its 1989. It's just a personality disorder
>>223496 >>223497 >>223498 Triple posting… A definite sign that someone is posting from a phone. Most likely an iPhone too depending on some of his choices of words and the time between posts.
>>223495 t. retard. It's not phone posters that have been ruining imageboards. Its you crossboarders that sit at your pcs with 12 tabs open shitposting on multiple boards and websites, trying to chase the instant gratification of shitposting. Complaining that websites are too slow for you so you NEED 12 tabs open. So you can post the exact same brain rot half a million times. You are the very definition of a degenerate.
I phonepost on a tablet most of the time because I like to lay on my bed. I have a high end PC but nothing beats the comfort of my bed. I'm not ashamed of it, if anything, I'm proud to be the comfiest NEET on this website.
>>223506 dear neetie, please sleep well in ur neet bed. may u be safe and happy. may nobody touch your dreams or bring harm to u. make stress stay out your wiz life. you are a good wizzie. plz stay soft and warm.
>>223512 dear wizzie, outside ur room there may be many things, but what you need to be scared of most isnt humans but something i call "lamp post entity." in my childhood bed room i was laying in my wiz bed and about a block over was a lamp post. a tall, spindly structure, the lamp had a bright light that illuminated a small area around it. its light was not enough to reach much else.
i was kind of looking at this in a daze when i saw something that i distinctly knew i was –not– meant to see. suddenly, behind the lamp post a tall creature similar to a stick insect poked out and took impossibly long strides to the next lamp further down. and just as it went to hide behind it the creature turned to look right at me. I remember feeling this sense of terror staring at where i assumed its head was. like i felt inside my head the words: "i know that you saw me and I want to make clear you werent meant to see this. if you keep quiet it will be okay."
and you know what: I did keep quiet. I waited years to tell even a single person this story. I waited until the lamps were replaced entirely and a whole new neighborhood was built. Until I'd moved over an ocean away from that place. But I'd be lying if I said I don't remember it whenever I see a lamp. Like the one near my house. maybe the creature never left me.
>ITT: retards who can't understand that "phoneposters tend to be bad" doesn't mean that they, specifically, are bad posters Ironically, that's what makes them bad posters.
>>223506 Sounds comfy. I also phonepost sometimes, when the post is not long or I go overboard with the text without realizing it.
>>223530 >Ironically, that's what makes them bad posters. Cancer is cancer. I'm not going to focus on how the cancer works because that is unnecessary speculation
>>223675 I have the same dilemma. I guess it really boils down to the fact wizards and loners frequently don't live that much past 30.
For most people who aren't truly schizoid, it's daily torture. From the 10 or so online friends I had since OSRS days in my youth 6 have killed themselves and 2 are in an institution.
Most people aren't in that predicament by choice, every one of them through the years as they got older told me how tiresome it is to have zero love, no kids, mundane job and pretty much exist alone.
>>222521 we are the people who don`t need updoots and care more about what is being said than who is saying it. we can also experiment with comments without worrying about that comment effecting some persona linked to a username. "what will people think about me saying this" is a question we dont ask ourselves
>>223842 I always expand heavily downvoted hidden comments on sites that have them, purely for comedy value.
Almost without exception the guy with 577 downvotes is a dumb retard who just keeps parroting some false thing, and attacking others when caught spewing nonsense.
>>222521 >Imageboards are strange So go back to Facebook, normalfag >>224213 See pic rel. It's funny how much people who lack media literacy struggle with imageboards
>>224219 Your pic only proves the average "normal" person is a deranged low IQ sociopath who only constrains himself in real life because he has no audience, and it's not socially acceptable to hide their face and be anonymous. They also fear physical repercussions.
What they say online and how they act on social media is in fact the pure unfiltered essence of that person when they no longer fear social consequences for saying what they really want to say.
People are just so scared of the fact most people around them are monsters, they handwave it off as "harmless trolling". It's not trolling. It's who these people are and have the opportunity to display themselves under the veil of anonymity.
>>224380 it always makes me kek when i think about normalfags who are unfamiliar with trolling or imageboards coming to these parts of the internet and taking everything wholly at face value
Imageboards absolutely ruined my life and I wished I never discovered them.
They gave me an easy way to avoid my problems and on top of that it gave me tools that hardened me against any form of self improvement. The constant comparison against "normies" foster a strong "us" vs "them" mindset that kept me feeling hopeless. The constant overexaggeration and jumping to conclusions gave me a very twisted and unrealistic world view. Not actually ever "seeing" the person I was communicating with caused me to never learn how to connect with others or even that such a thing was possible.
It has been a disaster that I am finally starting to recover from at the age of 38.
>>225789 Then you've clearly never read the manga or even watched the anime. You are no different than the fat transvestite who sees a character he likes in a cartoon and starts proselytizing that the character is "trans coded" and totally representative of his distinct brand of mentally ill faggotry. You're an annoying "ironic weeb" who gets called out online, you see an anime succ who sometimes makes a smirky face, and you immediate convince yourself "she's literally me!" like the freak that you are. It's sickening
>>225787 This is the exact type of shit I'm talking about. Any sort of discussion that may cultivate healthy thoughts is always shut down and regarded as bad. Imageboard culture trains you to be this way. Like it is a fucking enemy psyop designed to cripple an entire generation

This isn't just the image boards. I went to different online forums and tried to raise that some of the definitions create performative behavior ("crab" is an example). They fucking defend the shit aggressively, even on "self-improvement" platforms.
They're infested with secret crabs, all of them. Some get caught here even but we have the best policy of banning them. And that's just ONE schizo game for keks.
Social media has created permissive grounds for fucked up schizo games.
>>225803 It's not because of secret ((jewish psyops)), it's because entire generations of men have become insufferable faggots to the point succubi, even their own family members, want nothing to do with them.
Natural selection will fix it but it'll take decades. Newest gen (gen alpha) seems even worse than zoomers, so it's only going to get more incëley before it gets better.
>>226101 >entire generations of men have become insufferable faggots to the point succubi But why though? Of course it's because a malevolent cabal has used their position as television network owners, film producers, book publishers, music promoters, and censorship committees to ensure that boys no longer have enough positive influence to become men. In other words - KIKE PSYOP
