 No.271512[Last 50 Posts]

>As a kid everyone thought I was a good boy with a bright future but then….
Holy crap this is accurate.

 No.271521

Many parents don't do anything to make their kids develop actual confidence and self-esteem but instead they give them these hollow compliments when they are obedient or doing something anyone else does. The same type of parents usually don't have any social intelligence and don't realize that you're growing up to be a social retard.

You just grow up with illusions because the adults in your life were too incompetent to prepare you for the world and at the same time you relax on these hollow compliments because you have "talent" and "potential" while not actually developing any skills. In the meantime the people who have developed confidence just do stuff and get good at it while you end up being a lonely weirdo with no personality at some point.

Successful people or people with friends, relationship and personalities don't have to be intelligent wonderchild types but they have enough self-esteem to do things and get good at them while you wasted all that time swimming in illusions and doing dumb shit and in the worst case you become a hateful weirdo or drug addict, you might even get grifted by some doctors in the process.

The things that are required to achieve anything in life is what you ultimately lack and even if you have actual talent in something it still won't get you anywhere because you have no confidence, social skills or likeability.

Not saying life is over but the clocks ticking and times working against us.

I had the smart-talented-good mannered kid treatment too. growing up with this has side effects as others have pointed out but for me the most interesting thing is realizing how clueless normal people are. everyone I met through out my teenage years thought I was on a path of success when in fact I was headed for a total disaster. it is reminiscent of cliche comments made by people who knew serial killers "he was the nicest person we never see this coming" etc. I mean people are really retarded they cannot read anything or anyone. be clean looking and wear glasses and people will think you are some kind of math wizard or a savant because that's what the brilliant people look like in movies.

No, the paternal age of a father matters a lot. Advanced paternal age, defined as being 35 years or older at the time of conception, has been linked to an increased risk of certain birth defects and developmental disorders, including autism. Additionally, older fathers also have a higher risk of causing chromosomal abnormalities in their children, like down syndrome. This is caused by genetic alterations in reproductive cells, known as de novo mutations, and they are more frequent in male reproductive cells.

I was one of those "wonderchilds" I studied my ass off just to please my parents and teachers. I thought I was gonna be someone important and special. I studied while the other kids were playing outside, I studied while other teenagers were dating and having fun. Now a lot of those troublesome kids have families and a good job, while I have nothing to show for all my effort. I trusted my parents, I trusted my teachers, I trusted society… It was all a scam.

I do find it funny how with boys it's pretty much a universal rule for the most successful ones to have "bright kid but doesn't pay attention or apply himself" written on his report card. They get the upper end of mediocre grades until they're 17, and then apply themselves through the last year of high school and university. The kids that are studious from early on become NEETs often or burn out.

Same, I was "gifted" and very quiet. Some teachers loved me and said I was perfect; some hated me in high school because I didnt "participate" so they quite literally bullied me. No kids bullied me, just teachers; I still have nightmares about it. University went well because I was cunning and careful to avoid group projects and presentations. But I still came out of all this completely useless. Jobs require social skills, I become incoherent in verbal interviews, get shaking/diarrhea/nausea in those situations, am now over 30 years old with no references, and apparently degrees are meaningless now. I worked hard but now I am just left to rot with a mountain of study debt. It would have been better if I never tried at all and just went on neetbux, my hard work is literally entirely a burden.

Because you aren't a chad normalfag. That's what it's really all about. As a kid my mom always told me I was smart and stressed my smartness, so I did what I was told. I went to school every day, and then I went to high school every day, I did "extracurriculars" like learning an instrument and a language, I was in the high school robotics team. Then I went to college like I was told to and got a degree. And after all that I found a pretty good job, in a science field, that was fairly high paying, and yet she still called me a loser cause I wasn't out having sex and partying. That was when I knew that none of it had mattered. I will never get her approval because she will only approve of some social butterfly chad, and that's just not who I am. So nothing I can do will ever impress her, nothing will satisfy her, I am incapable of being that good son she wanted so desperately.

I think the only way I could have survived my situation and be socially capable would be if I was gay. But I'm not and basically every social factor is a complete nil in me. I feel adequate and even pleased in my academic and professional accomplishments, in my personal hobbies and interests, but I just fail on every social account. No friends, hate my family, never been loved, don't think I even have the capacity to love another human being. And it hurts me because the world was not designed for people like me. People like me are destined to dedicate their lives to some menial task to keep them occupied until they just waste away. And with any luck I can find some menial task that feels like it made a dent on the world, so I can just waste away like sisyphus with a smile.

Free will doesn't exist.

Yes. The interesting thing about free will is that it is materially impossible (so far as we know) but obviously true. Nobody can deny free will except in the abstract, because its reality is proven by our existence.
The evidence of free will is unprovable, but subjectively knowable with absolute certainty. It's useless to debate whether you are "really choosing" because you have "free will" or if it's just because it was predestined to happen by random molecular interactions.

I should specify what I mean by "yes": Free will is real but it cannot (so far as we can tell, and I would argue that it can never be) scientifically proven. It is real in the same way that we cannot scientifically prove that we exist, but we can KNOW we exist by the simple fact that there is something that is thinking that it exists.[1]

[1] We are going to ignore pedantic sophistry like "Muh what is this 'I' you're talking about?!" The 'I' doesn't have to be anything, it is enough to say that there is something that something has decided to perceive as an 'I.'
