I love Marisa. Sadly I'm completely the opposite of her. She is hardworking, she studies magic all day, she's very sociable and talkative. Meanwhile I'm lazy , can't study for shit , and talking to people doesn't interest me.
I still love her though.

I think I've gotten the most enjoyment in total out of the music.
The endless, rich variety of non-vocal remixes have soothed many long afternoons away.
But in terms of highest level of enjoyment, I think the fighting games and the doujinshi have been the best.
"The Immortal Who Saw the Heat Death of the Universe" is a personal favorite:

Really like this song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiUwPdfr-KgAbout to finish up all ten of the memories of phantasm on youtube. I didn't know there were ten until I got into touhou a month ago. Happened to see Shoutoku Legend - True Administrator there and got interested in playing the series because I liked how miko looked even though I've know about Touhou for years.
The Summer Day Dream anime was excellent too, parts 1,2,2.5, and 3 are out and it's professionally voiced too. I didn't know having sawashiro for marisa would be such a great fit, but it really brought the characters to life. I think both of these come out every year or so at comiket, so it'll be interesting to see more come out as the years roll on.
I've been playing Ten Desires for the past few weeks on easy. I'm not very good at these types of games so I only managed to beat Miko for the first time yesterday.
That self-assured way Cirno floats in 12.3 is pretty cute. I can almost hear her saying "I'm the strongest!" just looking at her. She's not that easy to play as though, the timing on her down + charged shot and arc it makes is hard to hit with for a fighting game.

>>26877Literally the same. If I could study, I would be a better person, but I don't do much all day. If we could just be hardworking… If I could be hardworking… That would be enough for me.

>>27178Because she's a cutie. I personally like her blonde sister more, but in the canon games, Remi is cuter. I don't know why, but they made Flan too chubby, I guess. She has a very round face for some reason. She's still thin, but with a lot of baby fat.
Just came back here to say I live for Touhou. Everything I do has some relation with this series. It inspires me, for some reason. Every day, I will try to get stronger and better my life so that I can, in my fantasies, be "ready" or "worthy" of these characters if I ever die and go to gensokyo.

She borderlines hikki sometimes throughout Zun's writing and doesn't bother to even remember most peoples' names. She's merciless in the games because she'd rather be getting drunk and passing out instead of working and just wants to hurry back to bed. Marissa likes these dependent types because they're less likely to call her out on her own flaws, and also because she sometimes goes big sister mode. Most people don't realize this. marisa luvs u for who you are and will hang out with you anytime.

>>33149For Touhou, any sort of violence or nastiness of Youkai is distasteful for me. Those two pictures are distasteful to me.
Youkai, or any monster meant to be "feared" must be hunted down and relentlessly killed. I believe Canonically, Remilia tormented humans violently, and thus, must be killed, regardless of her perceived age. There's a reason why in many games vampires are hated and hunted down. Even helping a vampire should be considered a death sentence.
However, to cut some Youkai slack, in the first picture, if those were invaders, then killing them can be seen as moral. Overall though, any kind of human hunting to me breaks the line unless similar force is given towards the Youkai.
I can't stand any kind of movie that's horror. I also can't stand threats like what Eirin did. How distasteful. There's a reason why threats are illegal.
No.33175

Most of the questionable hints are still a little more explicit than Fujiwara no Mokou having a spellcard named "Honeset Man's Death," which could mean any number of things on its own. The perception of that card's meaning could have just been left as an exercise for the reader, but ZUN made it all quite explicit when Mokou recounted her own past in "Cage in Lunatic Runagate."

>>26874Zun's autism to be honest..
Like this is reflected in a lot of Touhou. From the music, which features many key changes, and a lot of speed. The difficulty is pretty autistic requiring many playthroughs to get good at.
The story's autistic as well. Many of the jokes are puns and references to Touhou lore as well as Japanese traditions. Characters are self referencing, and there are many. The characters are also pretty fetishistic, and flat (autistic). Creating, and imaging a story like this requires quite the bit of autism.
This autism is in the great doujin community as well.

>>36257It's not, unless you are avoiding the places where the discussion has centralized. >>35862>>35853Truly the games aren't that good, even the fighting ones which are a step up. You don't see anyone praising how great they are, be it because of the genre or whatever, since they end up very similar in gameplay at the point where you play one of them and the rest of the next 10 iterations only for the characters, music, etc. since it gets boring quickly.
I've played all of the PC-98 ones partially- hrtp is a different game which is nice, but the other 4 feel like they're one game but with more stages and characters. Scarlet devil? still the same but with better graphics. Even in MoF i still felt the same. Only much later it gets fresh enough, by Double Spoiler you get to do more than just shooting 95% of the time. (again not couting fighting ones). I had a lot of fun with the touhoumon romhacks however, especially puppet play enchanced.

>>38747>Marisa always seemed like a dumb bimbo to meYou watch your mouth. Marisa is a talented magician who only offsets her studies to help her friends. Patchy and Alice depend on her to keep them from burning out and she's been invaluable in defending Gensokyo from those who wish to hurt the nice people. She's a young rapscallion and can be a handful sometimes but she's as smart s they come and a very kindred soul so don't go calling her a bimbo.

>>38749Marisa is the one to push Reimu out the door when work needs done. When Marisa does fool around she does so in the company of Reimu because Reimu enjoys fooling around too. What you don't see is Marisa using her flight to help Patchy sort the library, or fly in to town for essentials for Alice. Patchy never leaves the library yet she says no to magic being conducted there, so naturally she must not get a lot of practice in. She's a scholar but has no real experience. Unreliable in a fight, undependable when a life needs saving, unmoving when trouble lurks anywhere besides the mansion. She may be able to tell what she's read of the 2+2s of alchemy, but can she actually make gold? Don't get me wrong, she's a good person and a great friend for an aspiring wizard, but please stop with the myth that Marisa is some aloof kid who can't hold her own. She's beaten centuries old foes at just 17.

>>38791You know how in the early 1900s there was this culture of "work really hard so you appear awesome without having to have done any work at all?" E.g., Olympic athlete would claim they had really, really lax training regimes, but in reality they were training all the time. Marisa strikes me as one of those types.
Meanwhile, I always got the impression that Patchy's lifestyle is one of: she mooches off of Remi, and Remi loves it (I've always been a huge RemiPatch fan, and I don't understand why it isn't more popular, given that they've lived with each other for centuries). But at the same time, Patchy never struck me as 'unreliable' or 'uncapable.' I mean, she did construct a magic moonrocket in Silent Sinner in Blue (or one of the official Touhou pieces) iirc, right?

>>38832I found it in Halmos' autobiography. In general, the method is you take something/one you like, and look at their recommendations, then you look at their recommendations' recommendations, then you look at their recommendations' recommendations' recommendations (typically trying to choose lower and lower sub counts at each level, although often this isn't necessary). Once you get to the third layer, you find all these obscure sources that nobody else knows about, and yet inform almost everything. For example, if you take a really popular Touhou channel, by the third layer you find all these 10-1000 subscriber channels that ALL of the popular Touhou channels have been stealing from, and are untapped diamonds in the rough. However, this method works for books (by going three layers deep in works cited), etc..
It's difficult, though, because a lot of channels have started scrubbing any channels they subscribe to for this very reason.
Another trick is to take a popular Youtuber that you may watch, take the title of one of their videos, put it into search, and then click the filter button to only get videos made in the past week or hour, and then go to the second or third page. You start to actually find the new stuff again, but this approach is much more of a high risk strategy; you have to dig through a lot of trash to find diamonds in the rough.

Patchy knows how to do these things but has transcended any need to do so for she knows that there will always be worker drones like Marisa to do it for her. Aristotle sums up the difference between these two types spledidly in his metaphysics:
>For men of experience know that the thing is so, but do not know why, while the others know the ‘why’ and the cause. >Hence we think that the master-workers in each craft are more honourable and know in a truer sense and are wiser than the manual workers, because they know the causes of the things that are done>(we think the manual workers are like certain lifeless things which act indeed, but act without knowing what they do, as fire burns,—but while the lifeless things perform each of their functions by a natural tendency, the labourers perform them through habit) No.39274
