Recently decided to re-watch pic-related since it was amongst my favorite childhood anime (even though I always hated sports and I avoided sports anime for a very long time) But it i closer to stuff like Digimon, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh than the average sports anime, it's fucking cool like that but with soccer, thisq is more of a battle shouene anime that uses soccer as the medium to fight with their powers. Doesn't require being interested in sports at all, ALSO, the soundtrack is insanely good, I will never believe that a kids show has such an excellent soundtrack, I also know there are many video games for this and I plan to play them, R.N I am watching the original series, I know there exist sequels to this with a different cast of characters, I have yet to see it

Kids shows
I've found myself watching, and this thread is as much of a confession as much as anything, kids shows. It started off due to the threads we've had about Cardcaptor Sakura and Doremy, but then I realized after watching them that I was feeling…oddly good and optimistic about the world in general. It's weird, because on the one hand I hate watching this stuff because, well, it's so fucking stupid and vapid, but on the other hand I love watching it because it's so goddam relaxing and healing to the soul. Most disappointing anime
What was the most disappointing anime you have ever watched? For me personally, it was Sailor Moon Crystal. I'm a big Sailor Moon fan and I was pumped for the new series to come out, even though it kept getting delayed I didn't care, I just wanted to feel the magic I felt watching the series for the first time again. But when the show aired in the summer of 2014 i was met with a show with extremely sloppy animation, poor writing and really just an underwhelming vibe to it. It was just such a gut punch to see my favorite show get treated with such a mishandled and mediocre retelling.

I guess the "hiatus" part slipped from my mind. After a depressing turn of life I remembered how much I had loved Hyakko when I saw it over a decade ago. I had so much fun the past few days rewatching the series but after I saw the final episode, I learned that even after all this time, the manga never picked back up.
I feel even worse than I had before I had started rewatching this!
Like some small ray of hope was introduced into my horrible life-situation and was then snuffed out from under me…
I don't know if this belongs on /jp/ or /dep/, I guess. I just have absolutely no where I can talk about this.
Maybe someone else has experienced some kind of similar situation…

Any Toyota fans out there too? Toyota has been going down the drain in terms of fun factor. I can't wait until Toyota's reliability goes down too to the point where Toyota stops production in America alltogether like Toshiba.

I haven't watched the Pokemon anime in a long time, is there anything truly worth going back to, or is it all just blind nostalgia? I want to discuss something that has been bothering me about anime. There is a certain subset of anime that is essentially a way for losers to fantasize about being popular and powerful normalfags who get all the succubi. The typical format is a fantasy harem show where the MC is some loser with a typical self-sacrificing nice guy routine. He saves some succubus from X danger and kills himself so he gets isekaied as a noble with overpowered magic powers and his memories intact. In the show he keeps up his usual nice guy act, often being quite milquetoast and useless, but he gets plot armored into all the succubi liking him and other positive things so his nice guy routine is rewarded to the max. The other thing is that the succubi are usually underage for some reason.
I think there is something vaguely fucked up about this whole situation. First off, these corporations are targeting people who are clearly mentally unwell and lack confidence in life and they are catering to their fantasies in ways that are pretty fucked up. I mean if you have no confidence and are attracted to little succubi, that should not be encouraged or normalized because it's fucked up. Men who lack confidence seem to view little succubi as less threatening because they share their ignorance about social customs and the world, even to a greater extent than the man in question, depending upon how low he goes in age. The more fucked up they are mentally, the younger they seem to want. It betrays a desire to be able to control the situations and perceptions of the succubus and not be humiliated.
But let's set aside the pedo aspect for a second, even without that, this shit is fucked up. The whole point of the show is for weak and broken people to self insert as the MC so they can fantasize about a situation that compensates for all their inherent weaknesses (which the MC is shown to share in spades) and delivers to them the perfect normalfag life where they are at the top of the social pyramid. They are the most powerful, most popular, with the harem of the most attractive succubi. Is this really something that wizards should be watching and fantasizing about? Isn't is just kind of, pathetic? New to anime
I've never been into anime and I don't know much about it. However, I decided to check out One Punch Man and I'm enjoying it a fair bit. I've never been able to stick to hobbies or find any passion or purpose in life. Is anime a worthwhile thing to get into? I'm beginning to see why so many people love it. The problem is, it just seems so dense. So much to learn, so many forums, so many niches. It's a little intimidating for a newcomer. Where do I begin? Should I learn Japanese? Most western popular mainstream/tiktok anime 14+ is boring, extremely autistic, or cringe in a bad way. I never liked anime due to thinking it was going to turn me into a retard. eg pokemon, digimon, my hero academia, naruto, spy x family, demonslayer, hunter x hunter you get the idea lol. There are alot that are Watchable, but far from good due to the sheer cringe. Its like the majority of anime people watch in the west is cursed or made for children.
