I didn't think that his death would cause me to weep a little considering that I haven't shed up a tear in years.
I'm holding back the tears and trying not to think about it but the man who created a fantastic inherently sci-fi fighting universe that ignited and livened up my life as a youth is gone forever and it feels like that entire universe where I spent such a great time immersing myself, be it talking about it with other kids, playing make believe and running around pretending to be one of the characters and with toys and videogames, and even making related art, etc. is gone as well, and with him all those good times and memories that were a byproduct of this great wizard mangaka.
I remember even having Goku as one of my models and inspirations in life, someone to live up to. A strong, morally righteous, pure in heart, easy going and happy unpretentious man. Of course I never could be like him but I still tried.
I am glad for Toriyama's existence, he was such a cool wiz.

>>41701I feel the same. I remember the 4-5 times I tried earnestly watching the show as a boy and always experienced supreme anger at the end of whatever episode as it seemed intentionally crafted to hook the viewer by delaying dramatic resolution for as long as possible. And in any case when the great fight did at last arrive, it was usually underwhelming, and I couldn't understand why I had so sheepishly plodded through watching so much crap just to see more crap. Also the show itself I think is brainwashing as it promotes gnostic/pagan themes like theosis/outer space/aliens in addition to the individualistic "one man against all" non-sense which discourages group-based nationalistic systems.

>Goku began his story hitting his head
>Toriyama ended his life hitting his head
Life is something else, huh

>>41701I don't hate it, but was never a fan. I didn't like the comedy, and the world-building was just arbitrary, the plot seemed almost randomly generated. A few characters were interesting, and some of the fights were nice, but that's it.
Anyway, RIP. The character designs for Chrono Trigger also stand out to me.

>>41702Didn't weep but i'm surprised that i got a little misty eyed for a moment. The only "celeb" that has or ever will get that kind of reaction from me. Figure DB is too 'normie' most wiz's here but i've always been a fan of Tori's art and silly story telling. Truly the end of an era.
>>41707>I remember the 4-5 times I tried earnestly watching the show as a boyNot trying to sell you on it because it's probably just not for you but i've always thought the best way to get into DB is reading the manga. For a show that is notorious for it's padding the comic is maybe one of the most breeziest things ever made in the medium.

>>41701Toriyama said that he was often sleep deprived when working on it.
Maybe explains why large parts of the story feels repetitive.
>Alien kills Goku, was the greatest threat yet>Alien's buddies came to earth, kills almost everyone, all the survivors are barely alive, greatest threat yet>We go to an alien planet to find dragon balls 2.0, then meet a stronger alien that kills nearly everyone.>Bunch of androids sweeps the floor with the cast, get absorbed by a roach that almost destroyed the entire planet.>A bubblegum kills basically everyone, defeated when Goku get everyone's energy for massive ball to throw at him.It kind of kills the suspense when every villain is this ultimate end boss where the heroes almost die fighting or straight up dies.
