I have no clue what is keeping you people from talking about the best contribution Japan has brought into the Americas.
Personally, I like any 90s Honda Coupe just as long as it's possible to rice up to 500+ horsepower with at least 50 pounds of torque. The Honda Del Sol was by far my childhood dream car, but I ended up settling for a Honda CRX my parents gave me.

Any Toyota fans out there too? Toyota has been going down the drain in terms of fun factor. I can't wait until Toyota's reliability goes down too to the point where Toyota stops production in America alltogether like Toshiba.

And of course, Mazda is doing just fine.

I used to be obsessed with pre-2000s jap coupes/hatchbacks when I was a teenager. My first car was a honda prelude, which I wrecked a week after I got it… in retrospect I should've gotten a civic hatchback or acura integra while they were still easy to find.

By now it's very hard to find such cars around here, the few that are left are all high mileage and often riced to hell. I live in midwest US so most old jap cars don't take long to turn into rust buckets, thanks to the road salt bullshit.

However after I sold my prelude (for like $800 lol) I found a good deal on an NA miata, so I've been driving that ever since. But after a bunch of expensive repairs and having to drive it through shitty traffic I am wanting to sell it and get a more practical hatchback. But all the new cars are too expensive and overly complex and gay looking. At this point I'd rather just walk and take the train like they do in Japan than deal with cars.

I feel you. 90s were just different. Car manufacturers actually gave a shit and now… you don't even have to rice your car, Honda does it for you.
Maybe you should buy a 10-12 year old accord, it has some electronics in it but not the bs lcd screen which breaks often. For example my dad owns a 2008 Honda accord and it's great. Sure it's a boring looking sedan but it has the basic electronics a modern person cannot live without but it's still not as new as when manufacturers started putting expensive entertainment gear into it.

So true. I never laughed as hard at a car as when I saw the new type-r for the first time. You know the back has vents that are completely fake lol? They are actually covered despite what they look like, its just hilarious.

Playing Gran Turismo as a kid gave me an appreciation for 90's Japanese sports cars. All the newer jap cars look like they're obnoxious posers outfitted with bling. They don't have the dignified elegance of the older cars.
