I do not understand how so many people can watch and like anime with terrible character design and over all art style. One Piece just looks crude and ugly, very much like modern western children's cartoons. Same thing with Naruto, super popular and also super ugly.

I'm personally pretty spilt on Oda's art. I like what he's going for but i don't think nails it that often. I also don't think he's that great at drawing comics. His layouts don't flow that well and he's always trying to jam as much shit as possible on a page without much thought about making the composition look nice.
