What's a good place to start this show and when's a good spot to stop watching it?

Start in the beginning and stop once the pacing becomes glacial. It's not that great of a show really, but it can be kind of fun with interesting fantasy settings and characters and there's lots of episodes. I lost interest eventually but still read the manga because it takes less time and honestly the show is not worth the time spent to watch it anymore.

The CP-9/water 7/Enels Lobby arc.

207-219, 226-290, 293-302 and 304-325
Be careful about not watching the inbetween episodes as the Foxy arc is in there as filler and it's regarded as the lowest point in the series by everyone who reads One Piece.
Water 7 has the most interesting characterization, buildup, and pay off of any arc in one piece and all the fights are well set up and conclude well. It's about good enough to be a manga by itself, "what if One piece took itself slightly more serious."
There are some filler arcs like G-8 I like personally which is right after Skypiea, but if you don't like Water 7 and the arcs that follow swiftly after then you won't like most of the other arcs.
Arlong arc early on was exciting, but Water 7 has all the elements Arlong arc had and leads into some of the best parts of the series.
Once the manga is finished I think people will still look back on this arc fondly simply because the later arcs have gotten so much more complex and dense. Water 7 balanced those elements with much more elegance.

I've watched it up to the time skip (episode 516) and had no problems, it was great all the way through so far. I heard people say it has bad animation and pacing but it was a far better produced show than Naruto or Bleach imo. If you are a NEET and want a really long adventure series to binge give it a try, it's great fun.

I thin the problem with the other 2 is that they are really insconsistent in quality.
They have times when they set the bar really high for one or two ep then total shit for 10 eps where nothing of interest or value happens.
That said at least bleach consistently looks good. Story progression and pacing is shit but had great characters and looked good.
One Piece keeps the bar pretty low and it is pretty common for the plot to be them just messing around getting into random trouble so it doesn't feel as bad as when other shows do it. That said some times it is kind of shit like anything to do with Foxxy. Show just grinds to a halt whenever he shows up.

Yeah, you're not supposed to watch the filler. They have a website that tells you which episodes are just hastily made up bullshit that doesn't advance the plot so they could keep making money while the writer had time to come up with the actual plot. Without the filler, naruto and bleach are actually pretty great. One piece also has filler, but it's mostly better made (foxy was an exception) partly because the story lends itself better to adding in non-cannon stuff than the other two stories.

This MAL post generally outlines where the movies take place in between the episodes don't bother reading what he says about arcs and movies he spoils some.

The post leaves out, One Piece: Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack! it's the first animation of One Piece it vaguely fits between the Orange Town Arc and the Syrup Village Arc.

I would not really recommend watching Toei's animation past the New world (timeskip) The animes music is great though. I'd recommend reading the manga for it's for the wonderful chapter pages and the SBS corner (Q&A) aswell as author notes. you can read the fan coloured One Piece - Digital Coloured Comics I think they do the colours really well and it makes it easier to follow the action instead of black and white.

My problem with One Piece is sometimes it takes too long for arcs (mostly the fights) to finish when I enjoy the silly stuff the straw hats get up too most.

G-8 is an incredible filler arc. One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island is my favourite One Piece movie.

But it is a really fun series and the island hoping adventures filled me with excitement. Well this was mostly just rambling.

I just realized that one of the things I like the most about One Piece is that it has virtually no romance. No bullshit like in Naruto or Bleach, its pure adventure.

Arrr… that's the way more anime should be.

Watch it all in the order of its release…

watch the anime until the end of water 7 also skip filler episodes
go read the manga after that if you liked it

after water 7 there's just too many characters and the author doesn't know what to do with all of them and the story becomes much worse and boring imho

I have so much nostalgia for that 90s anime aesthetic like in the OP image. I remember watching One Piece when I was a teenager and feeling frisson during the fight scenes. I'm pretty sure I stopped watching it after the Enies Lobby Arc, because I thought it was getting too childish and cringy, to be honest. I'd recommend stopping at around that point.

Is ONE PIECE still on-going?

start with the first episode then stop after the time skip
you can read the manga after that if you're invested

Both the manga and the show.
Something tells me the author is going to die before they find One Piece.

He's gone on record saying the story is over 75% completed where the manga currently is. His understudies/assistants know the general outline of the ending incase something like that happens.

What happens during the timeskip that makes it so different?

>His understudies/assistants know the general outline of the ending incase something like that happens.
Wouldn't that be crazy if one of them went crazy, got fired and then they just decided to spoil the original ending on the internet

Read the manga instead.

Unlike most wizchanners in 2020, Luffy is completely asexual. He disregards females and acquires adventure

Do not get deceived OP, One Piece has not looked like that for over a decade.

This is a more realistic picture of how current-day One Piece looks like, it's been on a slow downturn since 2011, if you did not read it as a child or grow up with it then do not bother.

spoil 1045 one piece: did shueisha hot hacked? looks like the raws come from straight out of a device

I kind of regret burning out on this manga and anime I would like to watch/read it again but feel like I can't just pick up around where I left off (since I'll miss context and have forgotten things) but also don't want to watch/read what I have already read since I won't have the same feeling I once had when I started the series and it may feel like a chore

First of all watch the english subs (type “One Piece subs” in whatever anime website) and secondly watch it from beginning to end (look up a guide on one piece filler episodes and skip all of it) It may seem like a massive amount of content but if you love it you’ll wish there was more. When you start watching remember this: If you aren’t hooked by the end of Arlong Park, drop it.

Hey there, one peace is masterpiece!

start at 1, end at enieslobby/w7
start at 1, end at end

Good luck trying to catch up.

Anyone seen the live action show?

just this!!!

Are the filler that bad? Old battle shounen had decent to actually good filler.

it's watchable, better than the filler in Naruto or Bleach

Twitter and youtube keep trying to convince me it's actually the most amazing thing ever made, even better than the original. Seems like forced marketing bullshit and retards who never got into the original falling for it.

>Seems like forced marketing bullshit
I mean how can you tell what's genuine and what isn't these days? People don't seem to have their own opinions anymore.

I've watched teasers and trailers and didn't feel like watching the show at all, but the reaction to it does seem excessively and artificially positive.

I watched the live action and it was decent. I mean, it's corny and goofy as fuck, but what else can you expect from One Piece. Apparently the mangaka had some say in the creative direction so they couldn't flip race/gender/sexuality of the characters like you usually expect from Jewflix.

>they couldn't flip race/gender/sexuality
But they did, without informing Oda until after the fact. Then he complained, and they called him a racist.
>as fuck
You must be at least 81 to post here

People say shit about Western adaptations of anime and manga, but truth is most of the Japanese ones are very bad as well, it is something that doesn't really translate well into live action.
