Finished watching Mother of Goddess Dormitory.
Rather basic Ecchi except for the fact that it was a shota 12 year old being surrounded by collage aged babes, which made it slightly novel.
While the plot is nothing to write home about, the art and character design is nice.
If simplistic ecchi anime is your comfort food like it is for me then it's a ok watch.
If you are expecting more though, like a decent plot of tons of meaningful character development then give this show a pass.

succubus sees horrifying ghost
succubus tries very hard to ignore horrifying ghost
The horrifying ghost make it incressingly difficult to ignore them
That's basically the show.
Wasn't great but wasn't bad. 13 eps seems like just the right amount, enough to explore the premises but didn't stick around long enough to get overly dull and predictable.

Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious
It was ok, but the humor didn't match my own so the vast majority of jokes fell flat for me.
Also the characters were all kinda shit and super annoying intentionally.

What would you recommend?
You are very willing to throw stones. Lets see how study your house is.
No.43059
>>43055It's pretty sad. Basically, the pink hair guy was controlling, influencing, and orchestrating everything, the whole thing is just the product of his whims as a bored superhuman, and he'd nudge the Takakura family twice: one time into terrorism ( which wouldn't actually realize the dad's ambition, if you think about it ) and another time into recreating the same terrorist scenario with the brothers ( the son of that dad he manipulated, to make it worse ) to see if the outcome would be the same i.e 'does fate really exist?'
The ending themes in Penguindrum were really, really cool by the way, even better than rock over Japan.
P.S it's probably okay to go without spoilers, since I think everyone watched this show 10+ years ago lol
This show was genuine fun. I recommend Hozuki no reitetsu for similar fun.

Watching Inuyasha blind. It's a big departure genre-wise from UY or Ranma. It kind of feels like a Touhou anime based on the setting and premise. The protagonist is rather like Sanae. The credits theme even sounds like a track from PCB or at least it does to my ears. Not sure why it gets discussed so infrequently.
No.43127
>>43075It's a older show with a lot of cringy moments when someone who watched it in their teens reflect on it in hindsight, and a especially cringe fan-base back in the day. So that is probably the main reason it isn't talked too much about these days.
Also most of it was pretty mid if I am totally honest, with way too much dragging things out, as most shows of the genera have.
That said it did have a vibe about it that makes me extremely nostalgic.

The seasonals I'm watching are as follows:
>Gquuuuuux
I went to the initial theater release because I really like Gundam. Its a joint product between two studios, and feels like Khara is really pulling the weight here rather than Sunrise. The animation is extremely high quality on Khara's end, but even the CG mechs are pretty decent, about on par with Origins. In the beginning I really disliked the new mech designs, but they grew on me. This is a really intriguing mix of old and new ideas.
>Ninja to Koroshiya no Futarigurashi
The latest work from SHAFT. Another one with really good animation, which maintains the style SHAFT has become famously associated with. It's a very humorous story about an assassin and a ninja who team up to climb a ranking system, with the ninja being pretty useless but having the ability to turn everything into leaves, so she becomes a "cleaner" of sorts and disposes of corpses for her partner. I actually watched the first episode twice, I like it a lot.
>Hibi wa Sugiredo Meshi Umashi
What attracted me to this was that it was written by Atto, the creator of Non Non Biyori. The main character has drifted away from all of her school friends and become a socially anxious loner, and in the first episode she reunites with them in University to form a club about "Food Culture Research", having an interest in cooking and dining, but it ultimately winds up being a front so the group can laze around in a clubroom all day. I don't think this will reach the highs of NNB, but so far its a pretty good ride and the comedy style is similar.
>Apocalypse Hotel
This one is about an android and her staff of robots managing a hotel after humanity has abandoned the Earth. It's a charming SoL so far, the robots each have a lot of personality. However, there is a twist at the end that makes me unsure what direction this is going to go in, but I suspect the production quality will be very high regardless. There's a possibility it could develop into a memorible anime original.
>Yaiba
This is pure shonen, based on the manga by Aoyama. There was an attempt to adapt this in the 90s that was never completed and this reboot is quite different, for the better in my opinion. This new version is by WIT studio, who have apparently brought on some staff that worked on Mob Psycho, so the action scenes are really well done. The art style is also pretty interesting, as it attempts to look old without actualy *being* old.
The last anime I completed that I really enjoyed was 86, which I may post about later but I'm out of character space and time.

Skeleton Knight in Another World
Exactly the kind of Hero I can get behind and enjoy the most in these sort of fantasy isekai shows. Overall style and substance was decent too. Didn't even mind the 3dcgi too much, even if it did still stick out. They were at least trying, and they didn't use it to cheat the actual action scenes but rather I think it was just used to speed up animating stuff that wasn't super important.
Loved the OP theme and sequence too. ED was pretty lame so skipped it though.
Mostly though it was refreshing to have a hero with decent moral values and put their OP nature to good use without being saccharine, bland, or flat.
There are more then a few isekai who handwave the hero just instantly accepting slavery, often taking slaves themselves and this is supposed to be seen as fine because he is such a nice guy and thus his slaves fall in love with him n shit. Doesn't matter how OP they are, or how many connections and how influencial they become, they never even remotely chalenge slavery at all.
Not in this show. Dude sees Elves being captured and enslaved he cleaves through the slavers and rescues the captives.
Oh, but there are magical slave collars n shit. Seen that trope before, surely that means the hero will…
Nope, he dispels that shit with ease.
It's refreshing.
Sometimes I just want a unambiguously good guy kicking the ever-living shit out of bad guys. This show delivers that.
While satisfied with the 12 eps it got, I do kinda hope it gets a second season because I have zero intention of reading the LN.

I think a lot about when we got /jp/ made and the anime nights we used to have here that I'd watch while working my night shifts. It's been so long at this point that I forget the handle of the guy that used to organize them, but he always put so much work and effort into making the whole experience fun and smooth.
I've become the person in my friend group that organizes similar anime days, and he comes up in my mind basically every week.

power level creep ruins the series as Z goes on until everything feels pointless.

>>43263Long titled RPG-themed fantasy / isekai franchises with such long names are usually too full of irony and "game mechanic" themes. Can't expect much from them. >>43189>>43233>The board has never had that many actual 30+ wizards on it? It's always mostly been apprentices, and there were more underages browsing it back then.I think there were even more underage users back then than now (at least before the 4chan refugees came). However there was a subgroup of higher quality chadwizards that were actually interested in disregarding succubi and pursuing their hobbies. Of course those types get bored of the site and leave eventually because there are not many like them to engage with each other among the constant flood of posts about sex and succubi
No.43277
>>43265>too full of ironyThat one played it straight. I don't have a issue with if they do it ironically or play it totally straight, it's about doing it well and telling a interesting story.
Like I loved KonoSuba (aka KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!) because it was well done, high effort, and mostly due to it being hilarious. But a lot of shows feel very low effort, badly done, and can't hit whatever feeling they aim to invoke. While this isn't a exclusively recent problem, because more shows then ever come out each season and each year for the past few years compared to last decade, even more low effort low quality slop is produced as a consequence.
Speaking of slop, I am also super annoyed that a lot of sites I use for watching anime are getting utterly flooded by cheap nonsensical Chinese slop. It makes searching by genera to find a show to watch irritating.
No.43380
So for some reason I've started watching Precure, and I'm more or less caught up on the current season. The format is kind of similar to a "monster of the week" style super robot anime, but 14 year old succubi instead of robots, with the staple recycled stock footage and lightning paced story beats padding out episodic battles with the baddies. The real hook is the show's odd and charming dry sense of humor, and surprisingly there's a fair bit of character development as well. For example, Kokoro is good at dancing, like she was probably born to dancer, but chooses to to become an idol precure instead because they are the entire impetus of her desire to participate in this activity, and there's an entire episode of deliberation over this. Later on, important childhood milestones like experiencing new things outside of your narrow scope of existence, and the difference between having a dream and having a dream you NEED to fulfill are topics. Its still very average and cliche, its no doubt something written for children, but my interest has been sparked and I reckon I'll be exploring some more of this franchise soon.
