WHR is so good. There's really no other series like it that combines witchcraft folklore, noir, and gothic aesthetics. I keep coming back to it wanting more but other than 20+ year old livejournal accounts the fandom is dead. Shuko Murase did say in an interview a few years back that he wants to revisit the series or something like that, which would be extremely cool because witchcraft historiography has undergone somewhat of a revolution since the early 2000s. There's also new stuff like Michael Tavuzzi's book Renaissance Inquisitors: Dominican Inquisitors and Inquisitorial Districts that could be seamlessly worked into a WHR reboot since Solomon HQ was based in Italy and could push the series in the direction of a more deep engagement with witchcraft folklore rather than Murray's defunct witch cult hypothesis. I think Murase's artwork can sometimes be a bit bad and even comically so at times, but imagine a reboot of WHR with Murase at the head but also with the people who made the first season of Psycho-Pass

i binged on season 1 last week, but second season is a downgrade. animatation got simplified to levels that hurt the characters. they don't seem the same but in general they became much shallower

It's not the same as Witch Hunter Robin and but you might like Umineko When They Cry

Feels good to do a little bit of trolling after having to hear the same thing every time I recommend something I like. Younger people can barely handle 90's anime and manga as it is. I have favorites from the 70's.
