Well my family is forcing me to take Duloxetine for my anxiety disorder, what am I in for?

 No.301202

For me, Anon, it really does help. I have very severe PTSD, OCD, depression, etc. The Cymbalta (brand name) really helps minimize especially the anxiety, but I have to take anaphranil for the other symptoms.

 No.301203

Disgusting. Force them to take those gay lobotomy pills and see how they like it.

What war were you in?

 No.301204

You risk gastroparesis and dystonia

The one between Reddit and Instagram. Blow it out your ass, nigger.
I perfectly understand a mistrust of the medical tyrants and the psychology jew, but in my experience, SSRIs and SNRIs do far more good than harm. I'm sure it depends on the person, but don't dissuade Anon from trying it. You can always stop taking them, and it took me about three types of medication before I found one that works.

>You can always stop taking them
No, you can't. That's the main drawback of them. Once a reliance has been established, quitting or even just lowering the doses is guaranteed to exacerbate the negative feelings towards the initial issue - which itself could have been solved or numbified by 1,000 ways not involving chemical strangulation of the brain.
>it took me about three types of medication before I found one that works.
I'm sure they're all very chemically different and not at all just a different brand name of the same poison.

I take SNRIs and benefit from them but I'm not going to pretend they (and SSRIs) haven't been a massive public health disaster.

 No.301209

Antidepressants and especially SSRIs will permanently damage your serotonin and dopamine receptors. Even if you get off them, you will have permanent gut motility changes, difficulty getting sexually aroused, headaches, and general apathy. They are poison. Take vitamin D and Zinc instead.

The main problem with shitting on antidepressants is that it's really the best option for many people, regardless what side effects it has. In many cases, it's like telling a soldier shot in the chest he can't have morphine because there's a chance he could get addicted to it. Having lived with the suffering of true mental despair for years unmedicated, I can guarantee that a lowered sex drive is worth it for those truly in need. Is it over prescribed? Yes. Many meds are. That said, they do a shit load of good for those that need them. I know lots of people larp as Stoicists on imageboards: "bro just bread and water bro" "you aren't strong enough to handle literal hell on earth (modernity)? Guess you should just rope bro". People like this should be killed on sight. Lastly, for the "addict" meme. Am I addicted to water, air, food? What is the point of breaking a dependence for the sake of it? The reality is that SSRIs are not something you would get addicted to at all, and I don't know where that meme comes from, but even if you did, it would be far better than mental torture everyday.

You do realize that people rely on family for shelter right? Most wagie jobs in muttmerica don't pay a living wage (literally), so people have their parents hold shit over them for continued support.

 No.301214

>>301212
The main problem is that they're given to people who don't need them. People whose problems are practical, with solutions that are achievable with just a little hard work and change of outlook. Consider OP. He's still living with his parents, and they're obviously in a position of power over him if they're not only able to *force* him to become addicted to brain-melting pills, but also if they're doing so to account for their own failure (raising a son who has "anxiety"). It sounds like OP's problem is a practical one. His problem is that his parents are dogwater. The practical solution is to get away from them and start to overcome his "anxiety" by interacting with the world in a way someone without shitty parents would have.
>inb4 >JUST GO OUTSIDE AND IMPROOOV BRO, JUST STOP BEING SCARED BROOO

Crazy. Doctors get payed $800,000 to push pills on to young people and yet here you are, doing it for free.

Typing inb4 doesn't protect you from valid points. The fact you typed "anxiety" in quotes and, I can't believe this happened on Wizchan in current year, actually unironically told this guy to "just go outside and talk to people bro" means you are the HIGHEST degree of normalcuck and need to GET THE FUCK OFF MY BOARD

>He thinks "I have anxiety" isn't just a scapegoat conceived by succubi to use when trying to tell the creepy crab why they don't want to go on a date with him

Go on, OP. Why are you so anxious? What are you afraid of?

 No.301218

>>301212
there's no way to test if someone's a good candidate for SSRIs.

 No.301220

Tbh ngl having PTSD is a feminine trait. Go on the PTSD sub and most of the users are succubi who got shellshocked from being molested as a kid.
The truth is that only people with feminine souls can get PTSD.

I would, because it stands. Even effeminate boys get drafted in to wars. Those who can't endure the natural, bloody human experience are not fit for survival. You can feel bad that these soft guys were thrown in to a situation that could break them permanently, but nobody should have to tolerate those who allow their fears for something no longer happening control them.

War scared you? Sorry to hear. You're going to keep making it everyone else's problem even though the war is over? Eat dirt. If they didn't get the veteran status from being in a war, they'd be just another panicky oddball hyperventilating after being pulled over for speeding. And then we get to here, where guys who DIDN'T experience any of life's less fashionable aspects are having "panic attacks" over nothing, because they were never taught that it's not OK to let your irrational fears weigh down on you and others. Perma waah-waaah tantrum babies. I kick them.

I appreciate your effort to make wizzies ‘man up’ and all but the reality of things is the horror created by our own mind, not by external observations. In other words there needs to be no war to experience ptsd symptoms. I agree that these words are used inflationary still the case stands that the symptoms subjectively are very real.

The thing about PTSD is that it is a stress disorder, which was induced by trauma, not a consistent trauma effect. The trauma is important in that there are associations related to the trauma that can inspire the stress response. Anxiety disorders and other stress disorders can also have traumatic connections but the origin does matter. But stress happens at a very measurable biochemical level with very reproducible effects and it's a little unusual to expect a large oversized chemical process to have only safe and socially tolerable results. Overresponsive stress systems are more like realizing that a particular person loses their coordination and response time at a much lower BAC and should not be permitted even one beer before a drive.

It is true that the standard hormonal stress response is in real life very much sex dependent, for neurotypicals. This is because it is related to the production of cortisol and to androgens. The female body is much more prone to conditioning towards PTSD for ultimately glanular reasons. There are neurotypes that do not have a conditionable stress response at all, partiuclarly psychopaths. Psychopaths tend to drown out any limited stress cortisol with various androgen hormones and this is the primary reason their disinhibition makes them so impulsive and so different from the other empathy-deficit disorders. This is one of the explanations for how a stress disorder can also imitate psychopathy by essentially shorting out the stress response cycle, making it fire everything at once and having a stress-depleted response afterwards. Because this creates a different pattern of criminal behavior this has a special designation in forensic psychology, "secondary psychopathy." More popularly referred to as sociopathy by virtue of appearing to be socially conditioned rather than innate. Sociopaths are far more violent than innate psychopaths and it might be because of this push and pull between the cortisonal and androgenic response systems. Then again it might just be because where psychopaths lack a conscience, sociopaths have a conscience and it is that conscience that is telling them that they are required to do harm to others. Like that old saying about false righteousness being worse than unrighteousness.
