Can we get sort of a Souls/Bloodborne general thread going? I am mostly a PC gamer, but I do own a PS4, and I just bought Bloodborne. I've been really playing it a lot, and currently I'm fighting the 'Witch of Hemwick.' Anyway, I really like the atmosphere of these games; lonely, foreboding, and depressing. Very much like the life of a wizard in the sea of normal-ness. I think my favorite Souls-like game has to be Dark Souls II. Although I actually never completed it, I had a lot of fun, and I thought that m+k was much more tolerable than it was for Dark souls I.166 posts and 17 image replies omitted. Click reply to view.
This thread is a simple thread that can be about Bloodborne, Dark Souls I,II or III, or even Dark Souls. It can be about any element, the lore or enemies, or anything. Also, any action RPG game recommendations are greatly appreciated.
i just killed crossbreed priscilla and feel bad about it. i thought killing her was the only way to keep exploring the painted world but now as i progress i wonder if i didn't miss a quest with her. so what did i miss?
You can do as she says and leave the place but that's it, you don't get anything for sparing her, so you didn't really miss anything, no. You can cut her tail off during the fight to get a dagger but that's it.
The first boss new players are most likely to encounter in DS2 are
the first is laughably easy and unmemorable, the second you can take down by strafing around him, no rolling required, and he can also be exploited for a quick win (make him fall off the ledge, although I admit it may be tricky to pull off) I love DS2 but DS3's bosses are much better and harder imo than DS2s, not necessarily for good reasons mind you, iirc the slowest weapons are nearly unviable against some bosses (like the last one, soul of cinder or whatever) in 3 because of how relentless they are, and you while you can afford to trade hits with a random mob or a npc, it's not advisable against bosses.
>>50235>i just killed crossbreed priscilla and feel bad about it
This game does a good job at making you feel like a dick for killing some of the bosses, I felt particularly bad after killing Sif
Is the Demon Souls remaster on PS5 worth getting?
Only if you like horribly butchered games.
Wow, was the remaster that bad?
I like it a lot, but some bosses really feel like from fell for their own bullshit difficulty meme. I’m on the presumably final one now and they make you fight like 3 bosses in a row before you can even get to the final one, which makes you fight a whole nother boss before you can even attempt the actual last one and you get no checkpoint. So I’ve killed the penultimate boss like fifteen times only to show up to the last one with half my healing and with my ash summon already dead and get destroyed by one of his many AoE attacks. I really feel like everything but the bosses are fun in these games. The exploration and builds are so fun and cool and then they just pit you against brick walls.
My only major problem with Elden Ring is the balance. Souls games have never been balanced well, but it sucks how much you're forced to rely on Weapon Arts to deal any damage in this game. Seems like the old strategy of relying on basic attacks isn't really viable for the bosses big HP bars. Also, the spells are cool but almost everything is worse than just spamming glintstone pebble. I respecced into int to the 70INT spell that throws a fucking moon at enemies, and while it looks cool it deals very little damage with a huge cast time. Supposedly it applies a magic resist debuff but the difference is barely noticeable.
I also think the little copy pasted catacomb dungeons are shit, I barely ever bother to enter them. The legacy dungeons are some of the best levels FromSoft has ever made, I don't know why they needed to pad with copy pasted hallways full of traps and imps. Because of this I've always been slightly under leveled. It wasn't an issue in early-mid game but it seems that after Morgott there is a huge difficulty spike. Trying to do these optional lategame bosses has been an absolute pain. I barely managed to defeat Mohg and now I'm stuck on Melina and don't think I can realistically beat her without some more levels. She just has too much HP and damage, and that one attack which is really hard to completely dodge.
i'm level 60 and havent used weapon arts much at all. I dont use glintstone pebble that much anymore, but i did have the same frustration that pebble seemed the best - until i found longer range spells, realised how blunt damage can be important in some scenarios like the rock spell, realised how delayed glintstone blade spell can get shielded enemies in the back, and other spells for crowd control etc. The slow-casting spells are annoying though. But i havent reached such late state as you. I wish you would have spoilered the word melina>>56763
sometimes I feel similarly that i dont really enjoy the hard bosses. However, in sekiro I was stuck on the last boss with 3 phases for almost a week and got so frustrated, then the feeling of actually succeeding felt so good that it left a lasting good memory. So maybe you can feel differently later, if you succeed.
It's alright, it's true that bosses are kinda bullshit sometimes, and I do rely a lot on the arts, I was using the moonveil katana, which is apparently frowned upon by idiots who play pvp, but fuck them, I'm too far into the game to start over or switch builds, and I doubt I'll play it again, hell I'm not sure if I'll finish it.
I spend too much times on bosses (I'm bad at games) and when I lower their health bar to it's last 10% or so I get these adrenaline rushes because of anxiety and fear of fucking up that I feel I'm gonna have a heart attack, I almost fucking puked yesterday after killing one of them, this is the first game that actually makes me sick, this can't be healthy, it's the same feeling I used get when I took exams on university and the main reason I don't go there anymore.
>>56782>I was using the moonveil katana, which is apparently frowned upon by idiots who play pvp
I'm doing a sorcerer character and started using that. I have no idea why people would frown upon it and dont give a shit. Following 'culture' of these games seems like a bad idea. I pirated it so i cant even play online and wouldnt want to
>>56783>I pirated it so i cant even play online and wouldnt want to
Same here, the problem they have is players that spam its weapon art, but it's really easy to dodge so idk what the hell>Following 'culture' of these games seems like a bad idea
You're right about that, better to just ignore retards and enjoy the game for what it is
14 hours in to Elden Ring and I only found one boss, the two demihumans in the bcoastal tunnel. They owned me so I had to have that summonable knight do all the work. Been putting all my levels in to HP but still get one 2 hit KOd by many enemies even with full knight armor from the guild
Do I suck or is this game just padded?
>>56788>Do I suck or is this game just padded?
Nah enemies just hit really hard, some of them you have to beat them without getting hit pretty much>They owned me so I had to have that summonable knight do all the work
Yeah I do the same for those bullshit multiple bosses, I let the summons take care (or at least stall) one of them and take care of the other.
it is normal phenomenon to get killed in 1-2 hits by bosses in souls games, just dont get hit
>>56790>just dont get hit
hard to do when they keep trying to hit me
I've been so overlevelled after 20 hours or so in Elden Ring that everything is ridiculously easy. I never farmed runes. I never really needed to learn boss movesets like in sekiro, usually beat them in the first 1-3 tries, even major bosses. It's not skill just overlevelling.
People who claim this is the hardest souls game are fucking retards, it's so easy to be overpowered and cheese bosses. Of course if you limit your levels and play only a certain way the game is harder but that's true for every souls game, or every game in general.
i dont really play console games like this where you fight bosses and stuff. games that have a specific combat style that has you press a bunch of things or react. it's really hard to me
I'm talking about its difficulty compared to previous From Software games, this game is easier than every Souls game, except maybe the first Dark Souls.
There's no consensus as to what Souls is the hardest. In my opinion, that would be 3, with Bloodborne a close second, or first maybe when taking into account side content and the DLC.
Seen a lot of mixed reactions about Elden Ring but I loved 2 and 3 and those were also panned upon release, although the former was rehabilitated somewhat since then.
>>56887>Seen a lot of mixed reactions about Elden Ring
I have seen nothing but praise.>but I loved 2 and 3 and those were also panned upon release
Well as someone who absolutely hated every single second of Dark Souls 2 and liked DS3, I think Elden Ring is really good, I don't know if better, I think I enjoyed DS3 more but that's because I usually don't enjoy open world games that much, I'd say they're on the same level.
would a guy be labeled as a disturber of the peace here if there is a mere mention of fromsoft's shortcoming or is it better not to type anything at all?
Half the posts on /games/ are guys popping off about what they don't like about game/company/genre. You're free to say whatever you want as long as you're not rude to other users when doing it.
I rather read why something sucks than why it’s good
>>56788> Do I suck or is this game just padded?
I was getting owned non stop by all the bosses and I followed a 15 min tutorial on YT that gets the weapon to +4 the summons to +2 the potions +2 and it broke the game. Now all the initial bosses are too easy.
Level the weapon at least to +3, and put 20 points on strength and try again. The first bosses on the two caves north west will fall extremely easy and you can even kill the Tree guardian with a little effort.
Easy ways to farm souls or whatever on ER? Im level 25 and the first boss (the one with a cutscene on the entrance of a castle or something) keeps killing me.
Thanks dude, I was getting bored of killing small enemies that gave almost nothing and the big ones just 1 hit killed me, I will do this.
Malenia is giving me an aneurysm
Finished elden ring after 60 hours. Thought I was burned out but now I feel the urge to start a new playthrough as a magic user. I really like this game.>>56968
Try bleed damage and using the mimic ashes. I used the sword of milos. The goal is to stunlock her.
>>57025>it literally looks like a ps2 game and looks shitty as fuck.
looks nothing like a ps2 game. unless you mean some HD rpg that is being emulated and upscaled to modern resolutions
/v/ tier post
It is like old games in many ways, which is a positive thing.
man i used to love trials, havent played it in years, new ones any good?
ok now compare 99.99% of everything else about elden ring to a 480p interlaced ps2 shitter
i dont like elden ring, dont like fromsoft games beyond ps2 era, and i love ps2 and older games, but that game doesn't look anything like a ps2 game. i don't know how you can think that
Trying out horse archery in ELDEN RING
Hope its a viable build for outdoors
people are STILL talking about elden ring
must be pretty good
literally a kinect game
any improvement to performance since release?
