I want to share one of the best games I've ever played in my life, not only because of its aesthetics, but also because of its playability and the great content it offers, not only that, apart from being very accessible despite having low graphics (not to say shit) Runescape old school is one of those games that are little known, this game contains millions of stories, of Venezuelans earning a living to be able to eat selling runescape gold, from people who repeat the same action for 3 months in a row to be able to get 99 in a skill, and even people who pay in-game money so they can have a girlfriend. Runescape is huge and you don't stop finding new things every day, it's full of content and besides it's FREE… Up to a certain point since you can buy a membership and play the game 100%, since the free game is limited to certain things and certain sectors, but don't worry you can farm money from the game and buy a bond, which gives you 14 days of free membership, and if you know how to take advantage of them you will never have to spend real money to buy the membership. It's crazy what this game can be and I invite you to play it for free on steam, android, and iso. I don't know what my fellow virgins expect to be able to play this fantastic game

"RuneScape does not follow a linear storyline; rather, players set their own goals and objectives.

For the most part Runescape's focus is on training skills, not running content, so while Runescape does have dungeons, they're (for the most part) functionally indistinguishable from overworld areas.

Enemies used to drop armor and weapons but that was changed in the mining/smithing rework, so they just drop salvage and stone spirits now.

Theres no such thing as classes or races, everyone is a human.

There are a total of 20 free-to-play quests in Old School RuneScape, offering a total of 42 quest points."

no loot, miniscule amount of items and equipment, no worldly cultures, no PvE content, the PvP content has no context due to having no lore and the fighting is done for no reason, no player customization or identity, no quests, no mounts, the map is small enough you can walk across it in its entirety in 2 hours so i guess thats why no mounts are necessary haha, THERE'S A TOTAL OF 12 LEATHERWORKING ARMORS YOU CAN MAKE.

never shill this piece of shit to me ever again.

theyre copypasted straight from articles about the game and from q/a from players lol.

Never got into it as a wizkid but decided to start playing it since wizards here like it so much. Leisurely grinding skills while reading and browsing the internet, watching youtube and etc. really is of the coziest experiencies I've had in gaming. But I got burnt out quickly as well, unfortunately this game doesn't have that childhood appeal to me.

I love OSRS, but every time I stop playing it, I feel like I've escaped. I'm one of those people who has strong childhood nostalia for it (i.e. probably more than half the playerbase) and I'm sure that's the reason why I kept getting drawn back in - not for how good the game is, but to fruitless try and recapture that feeling of childhood wonder and awe.

Does anyone know if the leveling got easier or if I'm just older? I remember being unable to train melee/archery and never even tried to touch magic as a kid, and now
I'm about to his 55 on atk/def/str, 50 on archery, and I'm already 70 magic. When I played as a kid I remember only ever having the attention span for mining/woodcutting.

My fucking prayer is at 46, kid-me would think I was a god with the patience of a saint. Still 24 runecrafting though, I just can't stomach that shit f2p.

Current Runescape has about a 30x increase in the rate at which a player gains XP through conventional means, as compared to Runescape from before 2010. Additionally, there are XP buffs at every corner, materials are cheaper, and the places to train are closer together and offer more automation.

It took me about 14 hours to get from level 59 ATK to 60 back when I got my membership in '07, grinding on skeletons south of the Hill Giant cave, as was the fastest known way to train at my level per Zybez and RuneHQ.

I know exactly what you mean. I remember loving TES IV: Oblivion when I was younger, so I recently re-installed it, added some mods, and started playing. After a couple sessions adding up to about 4 hours or so, I got bored and dropped it. I feel like I would end up doing the same thing if I tried to play OSRS again. I have fond memories of the game, but I know too well that I will never be able to experience it with that same youthful lens from all those years ago.

the fuck? why do people play this horrible game?

 No.59685

>>59684
they enjoy grinding levels, they have nostalgia, they like the pvp, or they just like collecting stuff. if you have any autism, the game can be damning for you

 No.59699

I really enjoyed OSRS's quest lines a lot. I love the locations, characters, boss fights, etc. I haven't played in about a year since the increase of membership to 70 dollars a year and that I don't have much time any more. I hope to get back on one day to get higher skills and beat more quests.

I used to play this for nostalgia, but nowadays, I grow nostalgic for the previous year I played. I had a blast and made some real memories. I don't think anything can replace it.

Back in the day I enjoyed the grinding while I listened to stuff in the background.

Now I have a job that doesn't require my full mental attention so I listen to stuff there instead while getting paid.
At the end of the day it was just something to keep my hands busy while I listened to stuff.

Runescape is a boring game

 No.59739

it's alright, but I feel like to enjoy it you have to either be autistic, on adhd stimulants, or really into the social aspect, it fills a niche that no other game has taken advantage of yet. People say that the graphics are bad but I really think that it wouldn't work with any other graphical system, it's basic enough to look decent as well as leave enough up to your imagination so that you can fill things in yourself and get attached to your character. Also the fact that the game can be played for free as long as you play enough creates a unique entry point for my fellow online videogame addicts so you can spend more time in game instead of needing a job to maintain a subscription

 No.59740

runescape (osrs) would be cooler in a different engine. the tile-based positioning is very dated but the contents of the game are awesome

the graphics aren't necessarily bad, because they are so unique in comparison to modern games you cant even really compare it

i always imagined something like elder scrolls online but in gielinor. a world you can actually move around without clicking on the ground. no one that plays osrs would care for such a thing, they care only about gameplay mechanics, being conservative and mainitaining old school vibe, and basicaly keeping the game as a time capsule

maybe rs3 will one day evolve into it instead

Yeah, and? What's funny is I got a dragon med helm from the Odd-One-Out mystery box.

You losers could play this little direct RS clone that I linked. It has no players so you can grind your lives away into nothingness without competition.
