In this thread, ask other wizards for game recommendations.

I'm starting a new thread to look for wizards who played lots of city building games. I'm looking to get immersed in one of those games and I mean I want to completely forget this world exists. I don't have a preference for theme, though I would prefer not to play anything medieval. However if you played ton of these games and the one you think it's the best happens to be medieval themed I don't mind, let me know. Thanks in advance.

Origins which is pretty good and VIII and IX which I haven't played but I hear they're pretty stinky

Origins is great
I am playing VIII right now and it's clearly not as good as the older single character stuff. I had already dropped VII because of all the pointless chitchat and interruptions from actual gameplay. I skip that boring crap almost all the time, but it's annoying nonetheless. I want Ys, not a Trails of whatever game with a bazillion words script.
Might buy IX on sale one day to play five hours and never touch it again lol

I just got a nintendo switch controller because it was on heavy discount and looked cool, but it has me wondering, what decent nintendo games have came out in the last decade you guys would recommend, preferably ones that work with said controller.
I haven't really payed attention to anything Nintendo related in a long while, but apparently emulation of even current gen games is pretty good.
Last game I can remember that caught my eye was Twilight Princess, but I think that requires the wiimote.

Wizard you say?
Try Rift Wizard. Its not really medieval but its one of the best dungeon crawling roguelikes I've found in years

Nah, you can play twilight princess fine without the wiimote.
There is the wiiU version and the gamecube version which both work well when emulated.

Frostpunk and Against the storm.

These games are resource managers. I can completely lose track of time playing against the storm for 6 hours.

Can anyone recommend me a game with a really depressing vibe?

I already know of Dark Souls and Silent Hill and while those games have a depressing tone, they're not what I'm looking for.

Pathologic is by far the most miserable game I've ever played, don't know if that's what you're looking for.
The original HD version is great, the remake (which is called Pathologic 2 but it's really a remake) is also good, but I prefer the original.

I get why the atmosphere and everything is great but the gameplay is just way too tedious.

Haven't tried the second one though, I heard it's not as tedious.

It was kind of the same with better graphics so I doubt you'd enjoy it

In fact
The second game has a death penalty, meaning every time you die you get debuffed, so it's arguably more tedious. And deaths are stored separately from saves, so it doesn't matter if you load your game, if you died it counts
