I played part of Undertale.
The puzzles were semi amusing and the art style was charming but the writing wasn't funny to me or good in general and the gameplay while different wasn't great.

Undertale is just mediocre, but I could be underrating it due to extreme overexposure at this point.
Deltarune has been great so far, i'm excited to play the full game.

I only played some of Deltarune, not enough to have an opinion but I liked Undertale, it is just wholesome.

In my opinion, Undertale is insufferable not just due to its wokeness, but also because Toby isn't capable of keeping the narrative going without taking lengthy detours for the sake of its ham-fisted comedy. You see this constantly, not only in Undertale, but also especially in Deltarune's second chapter.
Partly because of that, their pacing is garbage. Most of the games's neat ideas are wasted by how little we actually delve into them. The characters that do somewhat get fleshed out are either dead or relegated to a comic relief after their boss fight. There isn't really much depth to the games, only scattered plot pieces and tidbits of worldbuilding that promise some depth and intrigue if you fill in the blanks, but which are never actually delivered upon in-game, and it's been going like that for 9 years.
The soundtracks are nice, though, and Asriel is cute.

Rabbits are cute. Succubi (2d) can be cute. Babies are cute. Unless he's a still on all fours, a boy isn't to be seen as "cute" no matter how much like a baby rabbit succubi he is drawn as. Not calling boys cute in spite of their appearance is a matter of respect for the male sex. Boys and men can be many things, from cool to creepy to scary to just plain stupid. To call them cute is to degrade not only the male himself but also that word, which is reserved for those deserving of and [/b]reliant on[/b] endearment from larger beings.

Legend Of Zelda (pre-Wii). Final Fantasy. Mother series. Megaman. Many young males characters are in these games, main and supporting. They are diverse in appearance and behavior, but none are designed to be 'cute'. These games predate the mentally challenged design philosophy of androgynizing everyone by turning cute witchies in to buff succubi and cool guys in to "cute" boys. Shame on Toby "Fucks Dogs" Fox. for pandering to such mentally maladjusted men - and succubi who degrade men and boys - with such labels and pet names by drawing "cute boiz UwU". It's infantilism. And yes, this cretin frequently elates at the fact that people recognize his character design's purposeful queerness and age-play.

That makes a lot of sense. I'm still a fairly young apprentice, the thought would have never crossed my mind unless you informed me. I'll stop demeaning boys by refering to them as if they were pets or toddlers. Thank you.

I quite liked Undertale. Gameplay was engaging. Setting was interesting. Soundtrack was quite good. I liked the off-beat humor. But, when I tried Deltarune pt 1, I got nothing out of it. It seemed uninspired. Should I try part 2?
