That aside imo dark souls is very overrated. Don't care for it one bit. Masochistic combat is gay and lame and waiting for enemies to do their cool moves while you walk around and dodge for 50 years like a cuck to hit once or twice is boring as fuck. Halo 2 is also overrated campaign-wise which actually does pain me to say because I like Halo and was very disappointed in the smoke and mirrors revolving 2's campaign as well as unbalanced design of high difficulty probably from lack of playtesting

those games are very grindy. the fanboys like to claim that grinding for items/souls is optional, since you can beat the game on level 1 with a club.
In practice most will grind. why? most don't like the idea to roll around, wait for an opening to barely do any damage for hours until the boss finally dies. dark souls has similar issues to most jrpgs just in a different form. but treated like they are above games like Final Fantasy.

As much as i have tried to get into JRPGs it was so not for me. Its as you said. Do 1 damage, jerk off for 20 minutes then do it again. The only JRPGs i've liked have been pokemon fan games and even then I never max lvl and barely touch post-game

When i played it (before all the dlc and mods) there's a problem with size of savegames bacause quests, exploring caves and other thing just turn up the size of the game to an absurd size (and everything except quests just get deleted at 45 days in game passed, so press T to wait in a cave 24 hours x 45 times to reduce save filesize) this problem is still in the game i believe.
The game have bugs and etc, the mods are very good. Trailer was epic but too much hype. Some school of Magic are a shit that scalate bad with level of enemies and your lvl, combat was dull, some quests are ruined or never finished by devs. The world is natural but kinda empty at times. Horses are a shit, Dragonborn isnt neccesary for gameplay you can just ignore history mode and do wathever you want.
You can become a god in Skyrim very easy like in Morrowind or Oblivion.
The game still have the hype but is good bacause of mods not thanks to the devs.
NSFW and Asian mods of aesthetic and combat change A LOT the game and turn the game into a Tera or some mmo asian dark souls-mecha-fantasy-dragon combat shit if you get the right mods lol

Skyrim had so much potential. unfortunately todd howards and his minions aimed for the bare minimum and still delivered subpar results.
The game has a PEGI rating of 18. Yet the story and writing feels like a kids story just with blood and gory violence.
The design is also very repetitive, many samey dungeons, lack of variety(got sick of fighting bandits, wolfs, spiders and the undead), the same voice actor for dozens of characters, many quests being some kind of simple fetch quest.

Agree, the game is easy to a boring degree, just to make everything as accessible as possible for the player. This might be fun at first, but then everything will start to feel like a chore and not a challenge to overcome.
Where is the sense of adventure and danger, when everywhere you go the enemies and quests are pushovers? Skyrim does have a few good moments like the Dark Brotherhood quest. Would had been better if Bethesda scaled down the game just to have more of those moments.

They made the game out to be something it was not. Made people believe it would deliver the most "epic" adventure. Normies still praise the game like it's the best thing ever. one of the reason Todd gets away with re-releasing skyrim for more than a decade and still rake in huge profits.
have these people never played any other RPG in their life? More than a decade later after the release of skyrim. Still no Elder scrolls 6 as of 2025. But why would Bethesda bother? When they can just port skyrim to the next-gen consoles or release a new edition and call it a day.
