been playing darksouls for a while and took the mage, I can kind of get the magic weapon ability. But having gems that reinforce your weapon to boost int damage? I never understood that when str and regular reinforcments would do the same. especially when magic weapon is now blocked from being used on the int reinforced weapon.

I've only ever played through Dark Souls once. I've seen people online claim that magic is really good, but I played a Strength/Faith character so I have no idea personally.

Not the OP, but assume you mean Skyrim specifically? I don't have much experience in TES1, but in 2, 3, and 4, magic is very powerful and basically becomes god-powers at high levels with enchantments.
