Do you really think the world's a sinking ship? I hear people say we're in the fall of civilization all the time but I am skeptical because I think this can go on and on, people enjoy society to much to let it go. I hear lots of arguments saying the debt, new world order, totalitarianism, economy etc., I think only a huge natural disaster or world war could possibly spark the end of society as we know it.
Secondly, what would it be like? Are we talking about a Mad Max style apocalypse, or nomads eating berries, or dark ages?
It does feel like this could go on seemingly forever like it is now (worse outcome) but at least I get to enjoy creature comforts more. I love to hear what you have to say

To me it just doesn't feel like we're in a top down spiral, knowledge is more easily accessible and we can see how cruel things are, and will always be.
What does """"feel"""" like what's happened is that society is running on less cylinders. I don't think the engine is going to blow anytime soon, or ever. Too many people in the world now to ever let that happen.
A mass die off event seems unlikely, even in the event of war. Could a nuclear hyperwar end civilization? Sure, but I don't think the West or the Asian steppe or the ME is going to get nuked anytime soon.
Are we living in a society of orchestrated chaos like what HyperNormalisation was on about. The answer is open to interpretation. Why is everyone so bloodthirsty for a great war again? And then there's what happened with COVID.
Logic and rational thought seems the easier option

I believe in two things, climate change is real, and natural resources arent infinite.

If you accept this then you have to think the future is grim. Most likely water wars, mass immigration, extreme weather events, slow deindustrialization

you mention mad max, the original, kind of like that. It will happen slowly, there will be more crime, and rolling black outs, and less food, and one day the cops wont show up.

i can imagine a slow gradual decline, but not a fall. we will continue existing throughout the decline in various forms. and once civilization ends, we will still exist. likely we will blast off to other planets and moons before we reach any definitive end.

The truth is people have been doomer since industrialization started in one way or another. I'm sure something will happen eventually, whether it's dysgenics, malthusian population limits, resource depletion, but every time one of these things comes close it just seems to be delayed. There's no point in speculating on the collapse, it hangs over our head like the sword of damocles but nobody knows when it will fall.

actually industry is the 1st time the idea of progress even made sense, before that everyone always thought they were at the lowest point from a fallen golden age

All ressources are recyclable.

Everything self regulate. More people = things get more expensive = people make less kids.

World self balance.

Very easy.

I’m spending my money now taking my mother places she’s always wanted to go because I think we’re only years away from a serious collapse in living standards.

how is it not already falling? We are already in the midst of a mass extinction. Your comment reads as thought the doomers havent been correct, but to me they have been. I thought i was a doomer but every year things turn out even worse than i expect

what are you exactly talkin about though? because if it's climate change, it's going to change the world a lot and bring various kinds of damage, but it's not bringing extinction at all.

The book of revelations isn’t a prophecy, it was meant for 1st century Christians and it’s clearly describing Roman persecution on them. It’s very similar to the book of Daniel which also isn’t a prediction

sounds interesting do you have any videos, articles or books talking about the culture of 1st century christians and how it ties into revelations?
