a NEET-Shut-in here with too much free time I have no idea what to even do with it, I read books, go outside for walks, watch cartoons and documentaries, used to read manga/LNs, but not anymore, I do some light language learning and that is it, I could also play vidya, but, i am saving cash to buy some gaming-material,I am a bit interested in learning about the people's routines and what they do in their daily lives, esp the NEET/hiki crowd.

figure out what you care about first and then problems and challenges will naturally appear to you, waiting to be solved. when you become aware of them, pick one and start tackling it willingly.
currently you only care about physical and emotional comfort, and since you're a neet-shutin, most of that is already solved. you don't have to worry about a job or responsibility, but boredom and ennui are starting to set in. so figure out your values and that becomes your guide. do you want to compete and prove you're better than other people? do you want to figure out some deep, troubling question you've been curious about for a very long time and there is no one that can answer it? do you want others to respect you? do you want to experience everything you possibly can? do you want to fulfil your duty towards god or your community?
start with your values. if it's only comfort, then you're pretty much succeeded, apart from the inevitable boredom and random stressors that you can't control. then you naturally don't have any reasons to do anything, it's just meaningless labor if it doesn't serve some value to you.

>go outside for walks
nice too, this is something you could build on. i hope this is not your only exercise. i have it easy, i like to skate and it is a wonderful expressive life-affirming fullbody workout and also a deepdive into my actual physical capabilities and how they translate into the effortless gliding of the ball bearing. i consider the ball bearing one of the few actual technologies that can withstand scrutiny regarding the original puprose of technology since it does make life easier as well as enable stuff that was absolutely not possible before.
>watch cartoons
i did my fair share of that but in the end it is all just entertainment and it does almost nothing to improve your situation.
>and documentaries
did my fair share of that too but these days i can't stand professionally produced videos anymore. gives me the creep if people use common establishment narrative mechanisms to convey information. i often watch youtube videos at 200% speed, watching a documentary feels so slow sometimes that i just ruthlessly skip through it to only watch the parts that i expect to be interesting

i'm trying to find one new thing to recommend to you but i know to little to be able to come up with one that would benefit you the most. maybe something related to creativity. you are consuming a lot of stuff other people have created. some people are so much in the habit of creating, they like to enjoy their own stuff and have very little time to watch anything others have made. i think it is a worthwhile habit to develop because it enhances your thinking to the point that the next time you have a problem, you don't look for solutions to other people and instead invent one.
if you could somehow get closer to that habit of inventing the things you need based on whatever your current level of skill and understanding is, i believe this would set off a chain reaction in you that you would benefit from in all areas of your life.

i have days like that, where i just say "you have been such a agitated chicken for months now, how about take it easy and just chill for a day and don't make a plan and be spontaneous"
and then i hate it, i sit on the chair or lie in the bed, scrolling on the phone, getting more depressed by the minute looking at what assholes people are through the mechanisms of memes.
maybe your experience of browsing sites is more pleasant then mine but i hate this habit of doomscrolling and when i keep myself busy, life is great. i can't imagine how many people live like that and just scroll their phones all day and hate their life, when a nice life is to be had. i live in a tiny place and only now i have understood the way i would like my home to be and for months i have been busy all day home improving.
i came up with a storage system, a ridiculously flexible furniture building system, i throw away old garbage that i had been hoarding, try to by new stuff that benefits me. i don't understand what takes so long about this but this has kept me busy for half a year now. i basically threw everything out and replaced it with stuff i built myself and it is so much better to be able to account for little details. i think the single thing that started this was having an old truck that is large enough for me to transport furniture. is my first car, i got it late in life and i love it. i consider my life before the car a mistake and a waste.

my car is an old delivery vehicle, boxtruck 100% utilitarian, 0% style. cheap to buy, cheap to maintain ( i had no idea how affordable it is, even with buying gas!) reliable, easy to repair, nothing digital about it, no camera inside, looks too cheap and impoverished to interest any thieves, i love it. i built a nice bed inside and shelving and a table and there is still enough space for me to transport big stuff.

there are other talented woodworkers, the dude i like is older. he recycles a lot of stuff and uses wood other people threw to the side of the road, he picks it up with his station wagon and builds the stuff he needs from it. the younger dudes make good videos too, they use 3d printers and cnc machines more.
the best dude i have ever seen is some dude from asia, i try to find him. every time i watch a video of him, i have my mind blown how simple and elegant he does something that would have been so ugly if i had attempted to do it XD

don't feel comfortable in for-profit places, their undignified marketing and salesmanship, their ridiculously suspicious security measures because apparently only dangerous people go to hotels, rules for when to arrive and when to leave, requirement for the use of a credit card that they add all kind of charges and i have to make sure that they don't add charges by mistake and then have to argue and negotiate and threaten just to not get tricked out of money. the act of paying to sleep someplace is just to annoying, complicated and regulated.

>>315112>Thank you, I will bookmark them, now I just need to find the material wood and tools for it, I am a NEET, so, it is tricly, OBVthat's the one thing that has kept me from building stuff with wood because where i live, it is just too expensive. i would have had to focus on using trash wood from the side of the road right from the beginning and maintained a wood collection to do it right, which i regret not doing. every time there is something left by the side of the road i should be all over it, pull over the car and investigate it to see if i could make use of it. i learned this too late in life but you don't really need money to have a nice functioning place. you can find materials like that. you need the tools but even those you could buy used for next to nothing. i didn't even know this was possible but it absolutely is.
i have started to use cheap "wood" pressed from from sawdust and coated with a slippery/smooth resin from the construction store. it is sold as shelvinglayers but i use them as tables and workbenchsurfaces and of course as intended for shelving layers.
see this one is 60cm * 200cm and it is 25€. an actual tablesurface of the same 60*200 dimensions i have seen being sold for 4 to 10 times as much. of course you can't do everything with it you can do with real wood. they are sold in depth of 20cm, 30cm, 40cm, 50cm and 60cm and the length is 50cm, 60cm, 80cm, 100cm, 120cm, 160cm, 200cm and 260cm. that means i usually find almost the exact dimensions i am looking for. it is possible to saw them to specific length no problem. a real wood worker would probably look at me strange for using those but they have worked good for me so far. they are barely sturdy enough to be a table, i used those to build shelving and table in the truck.
the tools to do it now have been becoming cheaper then ever. a few weeks ago they sold a real functioning miter saw at a supermarket for 50€. if i had the space i would have bought one. great times to get into building stuff. when i was young tools were so expensive that i couldn't afford it. that's one nice thing about this time period.

i almost bought a used RX 6800 (my second ever GPU) a few days ago, there are specific videos that run through what options make sense this month ("what used gpu to buy in october 2024")
tldr terrible times for many endeavors but great times to build stuff even with the lowest of neet budgets.

>>315127>for what purpose you need to upgrade your computer?the computer i replaced with a new one recently was the first i ever built completely myself ~8 years ago. it ended up fitting my needs pretty good i would say. it had weak energy efficient components, ran silently and cool but it was underpowered. i knew i did not care for the modern games so i did not bother to optimize it for gaming and made it all puropse with a weak RX 480 GPU that i am still using until the next gen of AMD gpus finally drop, hopefully still this year. i should have spent 200€ more and have a way better machine but i was pretty bad at it back then.
i'd sometimes end up editing video and it took a long time, which was annoying. after 6 years i noticed that 8gb ram was too little and upgraded to 16gb. i always believed i could easily upgrade the pc later but the prices for intel cpu of the socket i had just never came down, meanwhile all these newer better cheaper cpu came out that i could not run with my stupid socket. it ran stable without issue but i regretted using intel, would have preferred amd.

>video editingwhat for? is this your job?
mostly for cutting parts of videos that i like. sometimes i watch a cool video and i discover a part i though was funny and i don't want to forget it so i download the whole big video and cut out the part that i like and then when image boards were possible i would often include videos in my post but these days it's all very dead on the internet.
>components too expensive but do you have money saved to buy new components for your pc to upgrade, don't you?<there's must be another way to get those expensive things cheaper, hmmm..
everything used to be too expensive to me but ever since trying to do everything myself, no matter how much money comes in, i noticed it always accumulates. i can always make due with less, there is always money left at the end of the month no matter how little comes in. for the longest time basically all i ever bought was groceries (and i have gotten pretty good at that too) and since the car also diesel. but other then that no expensive hobbies, no children, no pets, just nothing that costs me anything.
i did not know this when i was younger but you can live like a king with next to no money, it is a skill that grows. all you need to know is that is possible.
for whatever you want to have, you may not be able to afford the stupid consumer version that attracted you to it, but you can find some kind of DIY/used/mcgyver version and through a lot of learning happens.
some people pay lots of money to go to the gym and work out, powered by poverty i have found ways to be fit that are way better then gym.
the consumer reality can be easily transcended to reveal that there are usually better unintended options that are cheaper.

>>315128For video editing, you should definitely sill go with a post-LGA115 socket Intel as H264/5 encode and decode is optimized greatly for them. Consumer AMD needs to emulate a lot of the encode functions and my Ryzen 7M chokes decoding UHD H265 in medium bitrate. Assuming you're using a GPU-accelerated renderer (Davinci Resolve for example) then any last gen Nvidia GPU will be fine. I can smoothly play and edit 4K DDCI RAW video on a dusty 2060M, assuming Windows doesn't try to powwer the decoder with the CPU. Nvidia cards are bottlenecked by Ryzen CPUs, and frankly, Windows's handling of integratted GPUs is crummy so the users is always going to have to battle to tell his own computer to run his games and software with the GPU instead of the APU.
AMD is cheap because it's the budget option and it shows in the performance on anything that isn't programmed specifically for them (i.e crappy itch.io unity asset swap slop). Stick to an Intel CPU + NVIDIA GPU combo for best overall performace
