Yeah, hypothetically sure, but I wonder how this looks like in practice.
Privacybros always overestimate the competence of such agencies.
Maybe in the US/UK/Ger/FR etc. it goes like that but the rest of the world is rather lax.

This isn't privacy per se but: How can I defeat or manipulate, algorithms? Mainly google ones, should I shift to TOR+GDG? Firefox, Opera, and use proxies?
my main goal is seeking and purchasing niche stuff (of certain types) online, Im sure the algorithm would play a BIG part in what it shows me, maybe rt it's keeping me away from the truly obscure stuff I so eagerly seek …

Using FOSS because it has FREEDUMS is like wearing a pair of flip-flops instead of boots when hiking because the flip-flop manufacturer shared their foam dye cutting template online for free.

How Wizchan higher up are dealings with AI generated slop? It seems that some dude data mined 4chan feed to some AI and created a bot to spam 4chan and made people think that they are talking to actual people, it seems more and more the internet is being flooed with AI slop, how to escape the AInet?

 No.319958

>>319954
Your comparison is rather flawed. Using free software is more like cooking all your food yourself instead of eating some pre-made slop. Cooking fits this comparison better in my opinion, because it's something where you actually can remix and adapt recipes as a mortal person, thus the those freedoms are relevant here, not so much with shoe-making. The free software ideology was created in a time where almost every computer user knew how to program, which just isn't the case anymore.

 No.319959

>>319958
A boot is something you can make yourself and remix too, but nobody does, because nobody needs to given that boot is good as it is. The flip flop is in dire need of remixing because of how flawed it is, and while the flip flop enjoyers rave about how they're ALLOWED to fix it, they don't because they're gay. Why do you consider Windows to be the equivalent of "slop" and how have you cooked your own meal (compiled your own, better version of linux)? And why did you sage? Your post is on topic. Wow that's a bad post you've written.

 No.319960

>>319958
>Using free software is more like cooking all your food yourself instead of eating some pre-made slop.
This analogy is correct in that nobody ever actually does that. Michelin star chefs microwave their ramen. OSS ideologues run binary blobbed flatpaks on Intel chips over NVidia proprietary driver packs.
>>319959
>A boot is something you can make yourself and remix too, but nobody does,
this is incorrect in that not only do cosplayers, metalheads and third world militant organizations alter their boots for aesthetics and for additional metal plating shards, but in that boot repair and resewing kits are sold in stores to men like me and you since I don't know if you're aware of this but rethreading a wellworn boot manages to cost perhaps $2 and an afternoon instead of the entire monthly budget of surplus that is charged in repair.
>Why do you consider Windows to be the equivalent of "slop"
Slop has gained a new meaning referring to anything related to AI so this question seems to be self answering?

 No.319980

>>319960
Actually, just checked repair kit prices and a 48-piece boot repair kit still only costs ~$10, so most boot repair will take a weekend and ~$0.50, and I can see by the thousands of such kits that are shown as sold in the last month on Amazon that this is not an uncommon activity.
When I was young and stupid I had thought that my longterm bachelor uncle was peculiar for repairing his own shoes, especially leathers that required manual awling. Such was the ignorance of a sheltered existence. Every man who is single, lifelong, past the age of oh let's be extremely generous and say 25 comes to understand the hard financial value of practical skills.

Add decorations to their boots, which aptly analogs Windows users only needing to change their system's appearance on account of the functional aspect already being sound.

 No.319983

>>319982
No, steel lining and insertion of small plate and wire into soles for militarization is typically practical and is imitated (badly) by metalheads and cosplayers for pure aesthetics, due to the inavailability of quality steeltoe and reinforced sole PPE in their countries. This is more closely aligned to Windows users needing to run Titus Script and WinUtil to get performance out of W11 due to its functional aspect having been fundamentally designed for office use cases.

 No.319989

>>319983 again
I will add that those sorts of tools to make Windows highly performant for normal users DO exist and are often unfairly excluded from Windows-to-Linux comparison benchmarks. Just like boot releathering kits. The only circumstance in which Linux is necessary for performance is when running SLES on an actual supercomputer intended to study things like quantum chromodynamics in which case extraordinarily specifically tuned thread and interrupt control are indispensible. At that point it is more like talking about some sort of scifi rocket boots and you're not going to find those on store shelves or ever make them out of some home releathering kits.

But the thread topic is not performance. Nor is the thread's topic flexibility, or stability. It's privacy. And privacy is a lifestyle, not an operating system. There are people who adopt a privacy-oriented lifestyle who use all sorts of operating systems, the best of which for mid-to-high tier privacy for a generally law abiding citizen would probably be MacOS with Brave Browser. Linux is often recommended as a privacy-for-beginners tool simply because there is so much documentation and so many guides available for privacy-ization in that space, and because reading and understanding said documentation generally increases the beginner's awareness of certain privacy concerns that don't occur to most people.

Gaming, particularly current-gen gaming, is intentionally incompatible with a high privacy lifestyle. Gaming performance dickmeasuring should only be relevant if someone's already settled into low or mid tier privacy. If you're okay with Steam, or GoG, or any other account locked digital storefront up to and including DLSite, then a laptop that uses only Apple Store software on MacOS should be secure and private enough for you.

>upset a roving band of karens and they start calling your boss at work.
That doesn't happen, and even if it did, you shouldn't be letting yourself as a man work in any industry where your bosses would have anything but a giggle at whatever these "karens" have to say. Office and corporate culture is for office and corporate people. If you need to hide who you are and pretend to be one of them as to not be "found out", then you should just get another job. It's pathetic to allow yourself to exist in a state of hiding your true self from the people you chose to work with every day.
