I believe you'll need a pass like on those porn website to use the internet in the future…I find it kind of funny

 No.324070

you could try re-creating the old internet. nothing is stopping you. you can still make phpBB forums, you can still make IRC channels, you can still host cs 1.6 servers. i bet there's more people like you than you think.

 No.324071

>>324070
cs 1.6 is shit, 1.5 was the last good version before gabe betrayed the community with cs 1.6 and steam

 No.324073

It's fitting considering the real world is declining at a much sharper rate. When age doxification is ubiquitous on every single place of the internet I will just cope with whatever media I've hoarded on my PC, along with trying a few creative hobbies. When real life is just as unbearable, I might go offline from that as well. Every single aspect of the time I was born in is so demoralizing that something I giggle at the thought of it.

 No.324076

The quality of the internet is pretty low on my list of priorities, man.

You must bow down to Gabe.

 No.324077

Why do you believe that you need to "cope" with the loss? You're an adult with a computer. You can just work to bring it back.

>You can just work to bring it back.
That's the real cope right there.

I'm curious what I'll do once they start implementing all the batshit surveillance state ID requirements on the net and your home computer. Cause once it gets there I'm gonna drop it entirely. Spend lots of time sitting in the woods and thinking I guess…

The old internet wasn't a matter of technology, it was a matter of userbase.
Too many normies, minorities, low IQ third worlders are on it now.
Can't bring it back. It's like wanting to be a kid again or something. It's gone.

Try to towards the real world. If you don't want human contact and can afford being a hermit just hoard as much stuff online as you want and disconnect.
There is much to experience that is worthwhile. Much to numb yourself with if that is what you seek.

I'm trying to detach from my desk for the same reason.
There is just nothing much online anymore for me, aside from maybe this place, but then again…
I hope to do more fun stuff and make some fond memories that isn't tied to this digital land of nothing.

It was also matter of technology though. When a computer is fat, squat, and stationary and costs upwards of $2k in old school dollarydoos (I don't know how much inflation dollars these days), you're just going to have a different relationship to it. The internet back then was a magical virtual space you had to consciously log into instead of it being all pervasive where it's everywhere including in your pocket. Normies were on Xbox Live, and even that was good back then.

I mean sure. True.
Still at the end of the day it's a demographics issue.
Even if you recreate the circumstances the people are just way different now. You can see this sites culture shift over a decade.
My point about the tech part is that you aren't just going to magically web1.0 your way back to those times.

stop saying normies, it's the normalfags who say it

Enjoy. My curses will keep on flowing.

Today the internet is so boring people prefer to chat with bots

 No.324207

Are you sure it's just the internet?
Both real life and virtual space seem to be accelerating towards a singularity of soullessness and meaninglessness.
I guess finding small or niche places with original content is the best you can do, but it still doesn't really bring back this 'old internet' feeling.

 No.324208

Bad Platforms, with bad concepts, administered by bad people.
Social Media CREATED these people, with intent.
We as a society didn't look through their scheme and have let it happen.

Good platforms with good intent draw in the right people, and will raise next generations better.

>Both real life and virtual space seem to be accelerating towards a singularity of soullessness and meaninglessness.
Because they are the same space now and have been for a while.

>>324208
>and will raise next generations better.
The damage is done and cannot be undone. The moment that line between real life and the internet finally disappeared in the very early 10s was the end. To "return" would mean that whole thing would have to somehow collapse.

It starts like that with a reasonable face scan and then it slippery slopes into one of those sci-fi dystopias. One of the 1000s as seen on TV, or maybe we get surprised.

>>324073
>I will just cope with whatever media I've hoarded on my PC
They're bringing device scanning so you will definitely end up on some list.

That's the scary thing. I'm not used to reading maps to plan my driving. I want to continue using my smartphone to run my life. I just want to own my devices.

If real life and the internet are the same, controlling one must mean controlling the other.
